Re: Worst Sci-Fi cancellation?
Huh, WAT!?! Surface?? Really?? The thing with the boy and his little muppet and hey at least there was the nice chick but... OMG People Please. Cancelling that show was an act of mercy. ------ As for people saying Firefly wasn't that good. Most people can say that there's been better shows since then but it was a big masterpiece that was barely scratched in terms of background (universe, alliance, etc.) and potential. And the way it was handled by the studios was what killed it, not the show itself. Lastly, if I remember correctly, not even all episodes were aired (at that time). So it easily qualifies as the worst cancellation or at least, runner up. Anything lower would be simply bad form.

Would vote Firefly every time - except for once in a while when a glitch would make me look for Farscape in the list.

The answer would be
poncherello wrote:i voted for I CANT BELIEVE THESE SHOWS ARE CANCELLED, because TBH... all these shows were pretty damn good.
So did I vote - I'm still "WTF" sorinri wrote:xrnzaaas wrote:Point Pleasant
Don't be sad about Point Pleasant, it is on the run now HAVEN - show with a very similar story line.
You are right - never thought about that. I liked Point Pleasant, it was set in a similar environment but it was easier on the eyes than Haven sorinri wrote:Surprising no one has mentioned FlashForward or Jerico.
I thought about that, but those shows are only borderline sci-fi. You could also include The 4400, Bionic Woman, Defying Gravity, Dollhouse, Invasion, Journeyman, Outcasts and Persons Unknown
You have taken the word from my mouth. Still I am confident in the new show Falling Skies to fill the emptiness on SciFi stage.

Re: Worst Sci-Fi cancellation?
I picked Firefly cause I still wake up crying that it was canceled. I didnt know SG-1 was canceled...I thought it ended. The only other two I would have picked were TSCC and Universe...Universe started off slow, but got better, still I can see why it wasnt getting alot of viewers...as for TSCC, season 2 was awesome...and the last ep left so much good to come, but it ended...season 1 is what killed that show, same with Dollhouse, though not on the list, season 2 picked up way better then season 1.

Ooh, almost forgot about Point Pleasant, really liked that show, but Firefly as #1 :\

Re: Worst Sci-Fi cancellation?
I voted for V because it got canceled since it did good first season. It seems ABC has canceled it when the second season started. I was surprised that ABC denied hulu to show the second season of V. Firefly is too over rated. In my book it is not a good show. I liked the movie Serenity, but Firefly has too many loose strains and the writers were not into the story. Also Firefly is a poor TV series because you have to watch it in chronological order to watch it. IMHO, Serenity is better at setting up the characters than Firefly. It is very hard to watch Firefly the second time because it is too hard to follow what it is going on. Firefly has a bad model for a TV series.

I'd +1 what tecknurd said, it's a overhyper and overbummed TV show. tecknurd wrote:In my book it is not a good show.
Though I don't 100% agree with this, it's certainly not a great show but I wouldn't say it was not a good show, it does have it's moments...

Re: Worst Sci-Fi cancellation?
LOL @ some of the worst attempts ever to argue that Firefly was less brilliant than it actually was. On a serious note though, can someone explain to me why they cared about Surface? honestly...it was going nowhere...the inevitable conclusion was predictable, and even if it wasn't, any twist would have been forced anyway. Inevitably, to draw the whole thing out, they would have just started building more of a soap opera for the characters and the creature thing would have ended up getting dragged on for way too long. -Rob

If you hold the mouse-pointer over the blue bar, you see the percentage of voters for each show. Just noticed that myself after you asked the question

Re: Worst Sci-Fi cancellation?
Based on the choices provided, Firefly is an extremely close second, however, I voted for Stargate: Atlantis because not only was it cancelled, it was cancelled to make way for the dismal Stargate: Universe, which had none of the charm which made SG:1 and SG:A such great shows. I didn't vote for SG:1 because it had 10 seasons and two movies, and had kind of petered out somewhere in the eighth season. Not that seasons 9 and 10 were bad, "200" was in season 10, and who doesn't love Ben Browder and Claudia Black? Which brings me to what I absolutely would have voted for if it had been a choice. Obviously an oversight on the part of the poll writer, of course. What about Farscape? At the end of season 4 we're left with a shot of two of the main characters blasted into little bits. Sure the Peacekeeper Wars were good, but it just wasn't a fitting and satisfactory end for such a great show that might have only gotten better if let to roam free. Unlike most shows, each season was better than the last one. Cancelling that show really should have resulted in someone having to serve a lengthy prison sentence because they denied something truly remarkable to the people of the world.

The worst Sci-Fi cancellation by far is actually Dark Angel.

Re: Worst Sci-Fi cancellation?
The worst cancellation was Firefly. Second worse was Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Both had Summer Glau in it, how the hell could anyone, in their right mind, vote against Summer Glau I will never understand. -=R=-
