Re: Suggest TV Series
So between Outsourced, Burn Notice, and The Wire, which one should I try out first? Currently we're still very much impressed with Breaking Bad...such intense drama... ...also, more suggestions for comedies would be welcome. -Rob

The Wire man. If you don't like it, shoot me in the head.

Re: Suggest TV Series
Mike & Molly, Glee, My Name is Earl...comedies that are ultimately about goodness and how it(goodness) prevails despite us...even HIMYM and TBBT and The IT Crowd qualify in this category of comedy, although less transparently. M*A*S*H might be worth a shot...I've never heard a bad review of it. Something contemporary would be preferable though. -Rob

Re: Suggest TV Series
I think QI is something that I'd enjoy, but probably not Flo's cup of tea...and since we only really watch tv series together, it's probably something I'd save for some time when she's away for a while...marathon it over a weekend or something. I never was much of a fan of 7th Heaven, though your comparison does seem to work...of course, better acting, dialogue, and production value always helps too, lol. -Rob

The Wire. It's even better TV then Breaking Bad, which is hard to pull off.

Re: Suggest TV Series
I watched fragments of Breaking Bad, but nearly felt asleep. Can somebody explain me what's so great about breaking bad? If i recall right, nothing happened in that show.

Actually it happens quite a lot, not just all the time. There are slower moments also but they are needed for the story. You cannot watch a show like that "in fragments" like you would some sitcom, reality-tv, gameshow or something like that. Also the writing and the characters are good (entertaining) and the cinematography is quite excellent.

Re: Suggest TV Series
lol, watch the first 3 episodes. The only way you won't understand the intensity of what's happening is if you're a sociopath... It's not really a show that seems like it would work in fragments, since every scene builds the tension. Ultimately the show seems like it is just a really powerful character study plagued with moral dilemmas. -Rob

Re: Suggest TV Series
Okay, so we just finished the first episode of The Wire. I think it definitely has potential, though my fiancée had a difficult time following it all and doesn't think she wants to keep going with it. I'm wondering if it's just because it's a first episode where they're trying to introduce a lot of characters, or if the show is always like this? I kind of like how all the character stories seem to overlap, but it's probably not gonna fly with my sweetie if it's going to require so much attention to be able to follow all the relationships and if it requires the viewer to infer things as much as this episode did. -Rob

Re: Suggest TV Series
Done. However, there are shows on my watchlist that I wouldn't want considered with respect to suggestions. Heroes, for example, was awful...it's just on the list because I did watch it. Any input on The Wire though? does it get easier to follow? I only want to know so I know whether to get my fiancée to watch it with me, or if I have to watch it by myself. -Rob

Re: Suggest TV Series
You suggest Luther based on what from my watchlist? ...I mean, there is some crap on my watchlist, and I don't want to add more. Current popularity for Luther is 1 star, and the 3 shows that its NE page suggests that I might also like aren't on my watchlist... ...plus, your previous recommendations have been shows that I already have a strong dislike of (It's Always Sunny) and one even uses the mockumentary format, which I've stated that I don't like (P&R). So, without at least a little explanation why you're recommending it, I'm hesitant to give it a chance. -Rob

Re: Suggest TV Series
It's a psychological thriller crime show, John Luther is a genius detective that tries to get into the mind of the criminalist he's chasing. And, in contrary to the CSI brand, we know already who the bad guy is, so an episode is not about finding how 'who did it', but 'why he did it'. It build tension in a fantastic way with beautiful scripts, based on you liking Breaking Bad, I suggest Luther.

Pretty much what he said And while I can see how It's Always Sunny it's not for everyone , Parks and Rec gets amazing after the first season. Spyder out!
