Re: Next Episode for Android Released!
Looking good I do have a question though.... Why does it need phone state and identity permission? I really hate that permission and try to avoid it where possible. I want to buy it to show my support. but that stupid permission is bothering me.

Re: Next Episode for Android Released!
Yea, I added a disclaimer about this in the app description, but it seems it'll take some time (maybe a couple of hours) to update and be visible in the market description. Anyway, the disclaimer is this: ** Please note, the READ PHONE STATE AND IDENTITY permission is needed ONLY for the app to be able to read your DEVICE ID which is used when storing your "My Shows" list etc. It's harmless, and could not be reliably done without having to require that permission. **

Re: Next Episode for Android Released!
First of all, good job. And now some (hopefully constructive) criticism: - Regarding the READ_PHONE_STATE / deviceId thing, you should read this post on the Android Developers blog. - Notifications would change this app from useful to indispensable. - The app feels outdated, especially with the big tabs on top. Many recent Android apps generally tend to use the dashboard and/or action bar design patterns. Examples are Google IO, Google Docs, Google Places, Facebook, Twitter, ... The IO app is open source, so you could use that as inspiration. You can also use the GreenDroid library. - Going hand in hand with the previous point are the modal dialogs displayed when updating content. Nowadays these are generally eschewed in favor of something more subtle, e.g. displaying a spinner in the action bar. To sum it up, you've got the functionality down (except the notifications ), but the UX is somewhat lacking. (Yes, I realize this is quite subjective, so take from this what you wat.)

Re: Next Episode for Android Released!
Thanks guys @HomerS - I'll look into it these days and will notify you in here in case I release it there @benvd About the device id thing, I've read this, and I picked the most reliable method, which is to use multiple ways to get a device id, unfortunately, including the one that requires the additional permission If I get enough feedback from people being bothered by this, I may compromise reliability a little and use only one method which won't require the permission. About the modal loading dialog, I agree completely and wanted to make it more subtle (like it's on the iphone version), but I couldn't do it in time for the release - it'll be changed in the next update for sure. As for the global look and feel of the UI, unfortunately I don't have much experience with Android, and I wasn't aware of those new trends in ui design. Will look into it though, and try to improve it in a future version. Thanks a ton for the helpful criticism/feedback!

Re: Next Episode for Android Released!
Great news and great app!! I was waiting for it anxiously!! I just miss the feature that allow us to mark an episode as watched on the tab "Episodes". I use it a lot. I hope this will be released in an update. Besides that the app is much better than I thought it would be! Thanks!

That feature is in there. Please tap the helpful question mark icon in the app for a TIP on how to do it:)

Re: Next Episode for Android Released!
Oh! Sorry for that!! Swipe on the episode and then tap on the watched/not watched button! Nicely Done! As a suggestion, I think that a window with this help could appear when you open "Episodes" tab with a "Do not show this again" checkbox. Thank you very much and congrats!!

Re: Next Episode for Android Released!
Hello! First, let me say: thank you for this great app. It works great on my phone, but on my Honeycomb tablet it keeps "force closing". In the future, will there be native support for honeycomb and an honeycomb-like-UI? Best regards Sam

Re: Next Episode for Android Released!
I excluded all honeycomb devices from showing the app in the market. How did you manage to get it on it? What device do you use? And yea, probably in a future update, compatibility may be added...

Re: Next Episode for Android Released!
Hi! I use the Acer Iconia A500. Oh, that is the reason, why the app doesn't show up in the market on my acer. I managed to get the app on my acer by accident. First, i bought the app on my phone in the market, then started up the acer and was surprised that the app didn't show up under "my apps", then i thought maybe the market wasn't up to speed today, so i started the appbrain app on my phone synced it to the cloud, the started the appbrain app on the acer synced it and installed the "next-episode app" on the acer.

Re: Next Episode for Android Released!
There seems to be no ability to add or remove shows from the "Shows you are not tracking" list. I use hat list for shows I intend to watch eventually, but do not want to see every time I look at the stuff to watch list. It would be a bit of a pain to need to return to the site in browser to remove a show from the list if I decide to start watching it. (That is likely to happen now, as none of the shows I follow will air for the next 13 days ). I looked through the ? buttons and found nothing, so I'm guessing there is no support for it at he moment.

I love it, it runs very well on my Motorola Milestone, all it's missing is a BotD menu
