Re: 2x20 - Gauntlet
But the planet they were going (where the people from Novus evacuated to) must be in the same galaxy as Novus, so once they leave the galaxy they're not going to get back...

Someone did say they were going to rewatch with a tally on the number of people; it'd be interesting to say the least!

Re: 2x20 - Gauntlet
Wouldn't it be kind of awesome if they start up this show again, in three years?

Indeed Maybe that's the producers hope. Give them a rest after 14 years, let them think up some new story lines etc. It would be easy for them to go back to it, even if half the cast don't come back, like BB said they can just kill them off in the pods. Then in those 3 years Earth has managed a viable way to connect to Destiny, and they get resupplied along with a new compliment of soldiers/scientists to refill the cast. Sorted

Indeed.... it could work very well.... And if the fans send them some nuts, perhaps it will happen

Halo2 wrote:Halo2 wrote:Erm, what happened to the descendants?
I think they may have cut an episode out thinking about it now. Weren't they going to head to the planet the people from Novus evacuated to, and then drop the descendants off? Surely they wouldn't have skipped meeting them? They must have been dropped off somewhere otherwise they would definitely not had enough pods!
At the beginning of the second-to-last episode (2x19 "Blockade") they mentioned that they dropped the Descendants off at the planet where people of Novus were heading. Eli mentions that in passing. And as they mentioned at the end of the episode before then, the new planet is empty, because the people of Novus had sub-light speed spaceships only and it will take them several hundred years to get them - so the Descendants are the first to arrive there thanks to Destiny. And Destiny couldn't find the ships from Novus in transit, because the space is huge and they could be anywhere, so the Destiny couldn't pick them up or help them along. (Although I think that is a stupid excuse, because no matter how big and empty space is, the connection between Novus and the new planet must be a straight line and the ships from Novus must navigate along it, or close to it, otherwise they'd miss the planet. But I digress.) So ever since 2x19 we were back to having only the crew of the Destiny on board, the 20-something people that still survive, no Descendants.

That's incorrect as they when they find Novus and go through it's memory banks, that a lot of the population evacuated through the gate to [lets call it] Novus II.

True, I forgot about that.

Re: 2x20 - Gauntlet
It just feels wrong to end it like that, it doesn't feel like an ending at all but more like something that should be continued. With the new galaxy the writers more or less can reboot friendly aliens, enemies and the in-between. It's also quite stupid that there are no new space sci-fi to watch at all. Is space really that boring for most people or just too geeky? How would one make a space sci-fi that would appeal, yet be good, for a larger audience?

I think it's to do with half of the target audience being gormless idiots, getting bored quickly and giving up on a show after less than a season.

I don't think it's justified to call everyone who dropped the show early like that. For me the decisive factor was that it didn't remind me of SG1/SGA at all. Also I didn't have any favorite characters that could force me to remain longer as a viewer.

Re: 2x20 - Gauntlet
Halo2, did you watch the first series? It was terrible! TERRIBLE!!! I have no idea why I bothered watching the second...having said that, the second series almost completely redeemed the boring first series and I was/am very sad the show has ended, the second series was great but I think the damage was already done by then. In all honesty, I don't think you can blame anyone for stopping during the first season.

Yes proteinnerd wrote:It was terrible! TERRIBLE!!!.
There have been far, FAR worse shows renewed over the past two years. xrnzaaas wrote:it didn't remind me of SG1/SGA at all. Also I didn't have any favorite characters that could force me to remain longer as a viewer.
It was never meant to be a SG1/SGA clone though, which probably added to the reduced viewing figures. Actually the US networks are to blame too, having a outdated rating system...

Well, I didn't say it had to be a copy of previous Stargate series. I just didn't feel any Stargate magic. They could name it differently and I wouldn't even notice the difference. Anyway I hear a lot of good things about season 2 so I'll probably try to catch up over the summer.
