Re: Day Break

I think it's weird to have limits on download. Can't remember there ever been such a thing in Finland apart from cell phone data transfers. Our DSLs have always been priced according to speed. Is it a common thing globally to have a download limits?

28

Re: Day Break

The only reason they have caps in the UK, is because the aging phone lines can't handle the speeds that the ISPs advertise, and can't handle the bandwidth, so they cap people, its a shame, roll on Fibre big_smile

29

Re: Day Break

That sucks... are they doing anything to fix the problem, or are the government happy it's there?

30

Re: Day Break

There's big talk about rolling out fibre across the country, but BT (British Telecom) are estimating a £15bn cost ($30bn) which is a lot of money, lol.

There is a company that are doing it through the sewer system, but its all slow at the moment, as far as I'm aware, people are just talking about how to proceed, and hopefully by the end of the year, plans will be afoot.

31

Re: Day Break

not only is there a limit on downloads here, but in my last house i lived in [cannae remember the isp] uploads were counted in that limit also, which is what essentially got me in the habit of NOT using torrents at all... nowdays i only use bittorrent for full seasons of older shows...

i'm going to eat your brains and gain your memories...

Re: Day Break

It is in Australia. I go through about 80GB a month, and always ride that to the very limit.

Re: Day Break

Re: Day Break

It's available, but it's expensive. You can get an unlimited plan for around $90 - $100 bucks for a standard 1500 down 256 up type setup.

I have a 48 gig cap, but between 1am and 9am everything I download only counts as half (so if I download 2 gigs only 1 gig is counted against my cap), so I do a lot of my heavy downloading then and can effectively squeeze around 80 gig a month out of my cap. The plan I'm on has been grandfathered though, so it's no longer available to new customers, and if they ever decide to remove it for existing customers then I'll be moving on to new pastures. Right now though I'm waiting in the hopes of ADSL2 opening up in my area.

If you want to browse available plans in Australia then I suggest you use whirlpool's broadband choice tool here: http://bc.whirlpool.net.au/

Happy hunting.

Re: Day Break

I know some of my friends have limits (we're in Sweden), but most of us have no limit whatsoever. I guess Sweden or Scandinavia in general is a very good place to live in when it comes to Internet connections.

I suppose I'm talking about Bogus episodes that have viruses ?? there is the problem that you have to download from another place (download limit).

Do you need software on the computer to find the bittorrent??

Currently we are locked into the isp we are with for 5 more months
(they throw in the modem with the pathetic limit 2year term) if you opt out before then you have to pay for the modem in full. So it could be another 5 month before im ready to start being serious about it tongue.

If I'm lucky the writters strike will have been settled by then!!!!!. (dreaming)

Re: Day Break

honestly i wouldn't bother with bittorrent to grab single episodes... most forums that have rapidshare links usually provide enough alternative links [from different filehosting sites] so's you don't have to worry about the waiting period between links, or paying for a rapidshare account... too many 'bogus' tv episodes and movies turn up on bittorrent, find a trusted provider and stick with it [i get most of my links from a forum a friend pointed me to a while back [http://www.xsharex.info] and haven't looked back since]...

then there are numerous blogs that post links [tv-rapidsharelinks.blogspot.com are pretty reliable [and fast]... just look for the HiO tag and you can't go wrong wink] and with using direct links you will make the most of your download speed, where as with bittorrent, unless you grab it in the first few minutes of coming out, you are at the mercy of thousands of leechers with shitty upload speeds slowing your download... i'm kind of of the opinion that if i pay for xMbs i want to use xMbs...

just a bit of food for thought, there...

edit: and then there is the simple fact that that if using torrents, general consensus seems to be that eztv is the only real reliable source... most direct links are posted in some forums/blogs WELL before they show up there smile

i'm going to eat your brains and gain your memories...

Re: Day Break

Amen to that tC.

And for the old shows, which are often hard to find via torrent, there is always the ed2k network. A very reliable source for tv show links I'm happy with is tvu.org.ru wink

Re: Day Break

I've never had a 'bogus' episode from torrents, always downloaded using torrents, and always enjoy the show, I suppose it depends where you get them from...

Re: Day Break

i mostly use tvtorrents.com Ratio site but gennerally good speeds and have alot of the old shows smile

42

Re: Day Break

I use eztv.it They have new episodes up quickly, and the torrents are listed by show. They also have RSS for torrents.

43

Re: Day Break

sometimes i use eztv aswell tvtorrents are better for older episodes tho imo, but you have to be a premium member for RSS

44

Re: Day Break

Oh, yeah... I didn't get the RSS from eztv.it, but from bt-chat.com (where the torrents actually are..? maybe... not sure...) But anyway they have RSS for torrents to EZTV. Just started to use RSS two three days ago. So, clearly I'm an expert on the subject. smile

Re: Day Break

limts... isn't that like in the old days of internet ?   I'm very happy I don't have a limed not even a fair use policies ... they just don't give a f$%k what you do with your connection...   I'm really surprised that a lot of peopl here have a limit.. sad

Re: Day Break

yeah no limits here either, I don't think that they could introduce it since it's always been unlimited download here.
