Re: The Mandalorian
Lol - you’re welcome.
Totally noticed the Starbucks thing… but btw, my go to for her is Dana Walsh in 24 and the ridiculous role she played in The Flash (a show that I have gleefully come to hate) as some weird pathetic character called Amulet. Can’t take her seriously at all since then. Poor poor actress.
Bo-Katan and Starbuck are both military with spaceships and never lose, the reference is just so parallel.
I remember Jack shooting Dana into a clear tarp that had Dexter vibes.

Latest ep struck me as one of those that wasn't actually very good but the neckbeards will lose their minds over.
Re: The Mandalorian
I have trouble understanding how many mandos are there. There seem to be like 30 of them. But then they are manning a full goddamn star destroyer.

Re: The Mandalorian
3x8. Epic. Great season finale. Huge scale and more serialized than previous seasons; probably my favorite.
Did Moff Gideon step out of his mando outfit into this:
Play the villain long enough and it just starts to blend.

I've been calling him Moff Gus since s1.

Yes, I never got that either. I never thought the Force was something you can attain somehow, you either have it or you don't.
Re: The Mandalorian
Even in the original movies everyone 'had' the force, it was just a matter of degree. They say the force connects all living things, some are just strong enough in the force to wield it. When they made it quantifiable in the prequels with the midichlorians it opened up this can of worms.

Crap. I prefer the series. You know they will screw the movie up somehow. I have little faith in Disney. They got too big. They are google now.
How can you say you "prefer the series" when the movie hasn't been made yet? And this isn't new news, they've been saying the next installment will be a movie ever since the last season aired. Hopefully the same production team will work on the movie and maybe they'll be able to do things they can't in the series. Let's have hope. A new hope maybe...

I can only speak for myself: TV shows have gotten so good that I frequently prefer a good one over a movie. Being able to explore certain aspects in detail is one thing that harder to do with a limited run time.
And this isn't new news, they've been saying the next installment will be a movie ever since the last season aired.
How could we know, you didn't tell us!
(And nobody else did.)
Let's have hope. A new hope maybe...

Re: The Mandalorian
while i really liked the mandalorian when it first came out, i have found that it is not holding up overtime.
maybe i am just expecting more from new shows as time goes on.
or maybe i am seeing the faults of old shows more after a watch or two.
maybe i am looking for more then a story with little to no nuance and a lack of a moral lesson or direction.
don't get me wrong, it was great show, when i did watch it and not think past the second what was showing.
( and i do not want to be preached to politically or religiously )
is the dumbing down of media going to increase?
as the lowest common ideas are the simplest and least interesting but also the most increasingly profitable?
but should not the biggest productions have more to say to society then box office payouts?
i am going to call it now without seeing it or any trailers..
7/10 great effects, story was good but lacking a great plot. ending was obvious and lacked any real closure.
LOL
Re: The Mandalorian
I thought pretty much all of this has been discussed to death in the various platforms and YouTubes and so on. That any of this seems to surprise anyone who's a fan kinda surprises me.
Disney going more and more woke and thus more and more broke.
Everyone talking about how the first couple seasons were good then crashed fast.
Lawsuits against Gina didn't help their P.R.
Personally I love how brutally honest from a lifelong fan perspective Snarky Jay has been. She was a "true beleiver" until Disney got ahold of it, so if someone that devout can be turned it doesn't bode well for a big chunk of the fandom. She goes in to some real detail about how everything that was good about Bobba Fett was shoved into The Mandalorian, so when they did Book of Bobba Fett there really wasn't much by way of characteristics to give him. Etc.
So many channels pulling apart the consistent drop in special effects quality with each season. The trailers, especially that Superbowl one, looked horrible. I hope the movie itself is better.
The show stopped being "The Mandalorian" and became "Adventures in Baby(yoda)sitting" as a cash grab.
Now this movie that is really just the 4th show season as a 2 hour feature to help sell more merch like the new Mattle animatronic Grogu
Movie expectations are it will financial bomb even worse than "Solo" did. Only time will tell if that comes true. But so many people are saying "I watched the first 3 seasons streaming: I'll wait to stream this as well". Then again S.W. fans love a reason to dress up and go to the movies. I'm curious to see which way it goes.

Going woke does not equal going broke. Hazbin Hotel and Helluvaboss's success proves that. As we've definitely discussed on this forum, political messages can be done well, if the writing isn't garbage, but hamfisting it in anywhere at the expense of the narrative ruins everything.
As far as Gina goes. She chose to spread the false narrative that the 2020 elections were stolen, spread misinformation about vaccines, and compared covid restrictions to the Nazis. Disney had every right to fire her. Her acting career afterwards has been basically over. I was especially amused about how she played in this heavily conservative film that cast her as the heroine, only to be panned by the audience of the movie (which was largely conservative men) who said it was unrealistic having a woman in the role of an action hero. That was just... amazing to see her get treated like that by the right wingers she chose to join.
The Mandalorian and Andor were good. The first couple of seasons of the Mandalorian were actually excellent. It fell apart the instant they pulled Luke Skywalker into the show. Disney messed up so badly with those terrible movies that having him in there was a detriment to the show. We get to see his doomed school being built, knowing where that goes, and we couldn't exactly see Grogu join the school cause we all know he'd have been killed by Kylo eventually.
Then the entire story stopped being about The Mandalorian and was instead shifted to the female lead, Bo Katan. The entire show shifted focus from him to her. Why couldn't he be king of the Mandalorians, he did everything. Why couldn't we have ever had some big moment where he removes his helmet and casts aside his ridiculous dogma? Because Disney is allergic to character development I guess. But none of that had to do with some 'woke agenda'.
Re: The Mandalorian
the show shifted to bo katan because Pedro Pascal is far to in demand to be paid millions to never show his face.
disney and he have already said many times mando with the helmet on is not Pedro Pascal just a stand in.
disney really messed up and drove the budget up for the mandalotian for a lead actor to rarely show his face.
that is an insane way to run a franchise.
there was never a really good reason givein for death watch to not show their face.
i was happy to see luke in the show, it was pointless to have him, but nice to see.
you could not have a baby jedi and never mention luke skywalker. but he did not need to show up.
more bad writing from disney in action after creating an antagonist that the hero could not
stop alone. (robotic dark troopers?? really??)
gina was a nothing actor, and a nothing story.
well ....she was a strong role model for women...... until she opened her mouth.
liberals love to raise a women up as long as she does not think for herself in any way.
while a like the character of grogu, he was far more important to merchandising then he was
to the show. and it would have been good for disney
to have mando teach grogu morals and discipline of a mandalorian.
they did not go that direction.
