Ha, I had the same impression! Looks like they moved to the new StageCraft volume: In September 2020, it was announced that a second permanent volume was being created at Manhattan Beach Studios in Los Angeles, in addition to the first built for The Mandalorian, which was expected to be completed in March 2021; one at Pinewood Studios in London, to open in February 2021; and a larger, custom one at Fox Studios Australia. These new volumes would be larger, use more LED panels, and offer higher resolution than the original Manhattan Beach one.
And this bit from an article about the StageCraft limitations surprised me: It has another drawback, as well, Favreau revealed. "The exterior stuff with sunlight is the one thing you really can't do well here," he says. "So we still have outdoor sets that we go to with traditional blue screen ... What we've learned is when the light hits the walls, it reflects. The screen reflects."

I want Carl Weathers to direct every episode. In and out, 30 minutes.

Ya, I just saw that Carl Weathers directed 3x4 and said the same thing, such a tight edit, no wasted time, made for a great episode, love the prequel flash back. Also.... ▼Spoiler Starbuck taking a viper out for a spin, to save the day......again. @Lighton, ya it shows, they've expanded everything for this season.

Re: The Mandalorian
Another good episode. This one even felt like all main quest.
▼Spoiler Zeb from Rebels making a cameo was a nice touch. Wish the dread pirate swamp thing could've stayed around a bit longer though. Liked his ship.

Ya, 3x5 was fun; the story tied in nicely with what's come before. ▼Spoiler You're right, it would've been fun to keep the swamp pirate around for a few more battles, and to have hijacked the ship instead of destroying it, because the Mandalorians kinda lack ships, oh well. I like that they have a new base of operations, and Bo-katan has a new purpose to seek out other Mandalorians and bring them together, glad they're making use of her in a more central role, wish she was in it from the start instead of Gina Carano! Come to think of it, you could put Bo-katan as the lead and put Din Djarin to the background, and I'd be fine with a Katee Sackoff Starbuck Bo-katan Mandalorian, that sounds awesome.

Re: The Mandalorian
3x6 was also great, well, the cameo's were really really great! This played out just like a cartoon from scene to scene, and I kept saying throughout, this feels too playful and plucky, like a Bryce Dallas Howard episode....I was right, lolz. ▼Spoiler Jack Black and Doc Emmit L Brown sometimes called Christopher Lloyd, so surprised to see them in this, and totally felt like a party favor "can I be in Star Wars pretty pleeeeease!!", I can just see Jack Black doing exactly that, lolz.

Yeah, the cameos were fun! When I read up on the episode after watching it, I found out that the obese woman is not only very US-American but also pretty famous.

Yeah, I should start a different thread for this topic. Not for that other show, but in general.

▼Spoiler I worry that Lizzo's going to get a distorted view of her acting ability being in scenes with a puppet, jack black, a stunt double in a helmet and sackhoff.

As long as she doesn't sing. Saw her on SNL some time ago. So bad.

Stop disappointing me, man. I'm old af and still recognised Lizzo straight away. Maybe you don't listen to her music but no need to be a dick. You clearly knew her name before typing this shite post out, why not use it? Her and Jack looked great together, I nearly spat my tea out when they popped up on my screen.

To be fair to Lighton, I've heard of Lizzo and know of her, from what I understand she is "famous" in the USA for being obese, wearing bikinis, twerking and promoting the body positivity movement lie of health at any size (apparently she is quite a good flute player as well...good for her) but I had no idea this was her....I'm pretty sure she is only "a thing" in the USA and I doubt anyone from outside the USA would recognize her out of context like this, I certainly didn't.

Re: The Mandalorian
Thanks for the link nightcrow, Matt Walsh is hilarious, "an utter dreck." If the episode seems too plucky and playful, and geared for kids, it's probably a Bryce Dallas Howard episode! I don't think Matt Walsh understands that The Mandalorian doesn't sail with a singular voice, like Andor or Obi-wan or Boba-Fett, but is open to guest directors so it gets wild one-offs. All the cameos just felt like a party favor to me, old school Hollywood cronyism. I kinda enjoyed the ham. (That's a double entendre for Lighton....as in hammed up performances and ham as in fat.) I like how nobody questions how Starbuck handily won that fight at the end of the episode, yet again. She's invincible, and hasn't lost a contest, and always swoops in to save the day. Getting repetitive. Nobody noticing this? It's almost as though a cartoon writer who's a fan of BSG made a live action series. lolz.

Is a harbinger of death a space angel, I dunno, maybe you're right. I enjoyed the fight though, but I start picturing everything as a cartoon more than a dramatic series when the leads win so easily.

Been too many years since i saw bsg. i just remember calling her a space angel at the time after it went kooky. At least her acting has improved. Well when the helmet's on, anyway

There is also the rumor that the aim is now to make her "The Mandalorian" and get rid of Din Djarin from his own show. https://www.ign.com/articles/mandaloria … din-djarin

Lol - you’re welcome. Totally noticed the Starbucks thing… but btw, my go to for her is Dana Walsh in 24 and the ridiculous role she played in The Flash (a show that I have gleefully come to hate) as some weird pathetic character called Amulet. Can’t take her seriously at all since then. Poor poor actress.
