Topic: Stumptown
Stumptown https://next-episode.net/stumptown
Stumptown follows Dex Parios, a strong, assertive, and unapologetically sharp-witted Army veteran working as a P.I. in Portland, OR. With a complicated personal history and only herself to rely on, she solves other people's messes with a blind eye toward her own.

Re: Stumptown
Watched the first episode, looks promising - action-packed, easy show. Similar vibe as The Good Guys (https://next-episode.net/the-good-guys). P.S. Somebody needs to change the show image.

I watched it not expecting much but I really liked it. Looking forward to more. I submitted an image change too. It seems to have updated on my Android app but not the desktop site yet.

IT offtopic: seems that CDN cache headers are not optimal, I had to do ctrl+f5 to see that updated image, it relies on setting last-modified header, but browser can easy ignore that, that's why I still saw the old image. Edit: And looks like it's a known BunnyCDN issue: https://support.bunnycdn.com/hc/en-us/c … -to-update

Re: Stumptown
Yeah, when in doubt, overriding the cache and ensuring that all new information is pulled down during a refresh should always be your first choice. I never had to force load any updated images here at this site that I was made aware of, but in fairness, maybe X amount of time expired by the time I viewed the show page(s) and it eventually updated on its own. The updated image for Stumptown being the exception, but I saw that on first load before spicerack's post. For everyone else, force reload accordingly... Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows, Linux) Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Is it just me or did the show feel meh? It didn't feel like a premier worthy episode, lacked substance.

Re: Stumptown
Ah ha! Thanks Scorpius. I always tried F5 to reload. Didn't know about Shift + F5. I feel like a total computer newbie haha. imadsani wrote:Is it just me or did the show feel meh? It didn't feel like a premier worthy episode, lacked substance.
I actually like that it just jumps into it. Didn't spend a lot of time on her background. It'll probably slowly unfold as the show goes on.

1x1 was not totally what I expected, but it was "good" - will check out the next episodes.

Re: Stumptown
This was cheesy. Could feel the cheese soon as I heard the first background music tracks (not songs) they played...

Re: Stumptown
I like this show! Got a bit of a thing for Dex (my kind of woman) but it's much more than that. I was fairly surprised I liked it! But there you go, I do. My main gripe is that Dex wears a lot of rock band/artist t-shirts but the shows sound track is not really up there! Budget constraints I expect. I've read that a lot of the classic groups charge a relative fortune for the use of their tracks in the media. Which is a real shame as I'm pretty sure most of them are minted. I know there will be exceptions to that! Anyway, it's funny, the dialogue is often snappy and amusing (something I've always loved since I discovered film noir when I was much, much younger). The characters work well, deff some chemistry going on between the main cast. Yes it has plenty of faults but overall the show is well worth watching. I didn't expect a 2nd season but it has been confirmed. Cool!
I don't watch trailers. I never have and I never will. I don't like Tom Cruise, James Cameron and there's lots more to add, give me time I don't like Star Wars or Star Trek or any superhero *hit

Yep, it's a fun show. Nothing too deep, but good entertainment. vapdne wrote:My main gripe is that Dex wears a lot of rock band/artist t-shirts but the shows sound track is not really up there! Yeah, I agree... money is probably the reason. vapdne wrote:Yes it has plenty of faults but overall the show is well worth watching. I didn't expect a 2nd season but it has been confirmed. Cool!
Oh, where did you read that? I didn't see anything confirming season 2.

Re: Stumptown
Yeah, that looks and feels like something to generate page views... I've recently noticed there were more sites that were basically saying nothing ("We don't know if Show X has been renewed yet"), but in this case it looks like they took the show start of season 1 and added a year to that (while still paying attention to the correct day of the week), claiming that's when season 2 will start. I could be wrong, guess we'll find out at some point.

Oh that's a shame. Apparently the ratings are shocking so I was surprised. Something didn't feel right about the site. Thanks for the confirmation

Re: Stumptown
Just finished the series, I decided I really like it actually. Something I can eat dinner to but enjoyable and I hope it gets renewed. Won't loose any sleep if it doesn't though. And I'm pretty sure I'd never bother watching it again! Found a reliable site and as yet, 08/04/2020 (UK date format), its fate has not been decided.

I agree with all of that. And I like the "something I can eat dinner to" phrase. vapdne wrote:And I'm pretty sure I'd never bother watching it again!
I can say that about >98% of shows, even great ones.
