The Outpost centers on Talon, who is the lone survivor of a race called "Blackbloods". When she sets off to the edge of civilization to track her family's killers, she discovers she possesses a mysterious supernatural power that she must learn to control.

Awesome little solid fantasy adventure tale, with tropes used in the best possible ways. The characters will grow on you.

Up to season 2, so you don't have to worry about someone pulling the plug. Looks like someone has the show's back.

Good to hear you like it. I wasn't convinced after the trailer, then the somewhat fishy IMDb ratings helped me to decide not to watch it. cool

Ignore IMDB. Have another go, as I said, the characters will grow on you. A lot of it is old school fantasy, some of the fight scenes remind me of those really old 40s swashbuckler movies. Just roll with it.

Ignore IMDB.

I know, sometimes a show is better than the ratings, we've seen that happening, and again. cool But...

...I can't do that, not with sooo many shows I'm currently watching or trying to watch the remaining episodes of when I find the time. smile

Re: The Outpost

No it actually really is good, has some comedy as well as a good solid fantasy adventure storyline.

Re: The Outpost

It's an adventure and I like adventuring haha.  I went looking for any updates about the new season and at IMDb:

Next Episode (airs 20 Jul. 2020)
Episode #3.1
With the Outpost taken over by hostile black-bloods, Talon must band with her allies to fight back.

I'm looking forward to it.

Re: The Outpost

Yeah, it's pretty well dome schlock. Keeps getting renewed because of that.

Is it just me or is that an awkward thing to say?

But no, because unlike Pandora, they seem to actually know what kind of story they are trying to tell and also do their best to follow up on its pretensions.

It does feel cheap at times, but is otherwise good enough to make up for it.

it is an "awkward" thing to say but its the truth sadly. Take that away and the shows are diminished, a lot. who are the intended audience? i'll let you answer that one

This show's appeal isn't the eyes of the female lead, at least for me. I like the solid fantasy adventure story and how all the actors managed to make something unique out of this.

Re: The Outpost

Agreed. They did a lot with what they got.

Re: The Outpost

I see the outpost is back on our screens? . Well better than that dreadful Netflix 10-parter called "Cursed"?

Re: The Outpost

The Brits have a thing with Medieval soap operas. Predictable, plodding and an acquired taste.

Re: The Outpost

Well, it was on the calendar, then it wasn't.  I guess season 3 episode 1 isn't airing after all.  It had been on it to air on Sunday.  I tried to watch it then, and tried again on Monday, but now it's not even listed on the calendar.  Ah, well.

Re: The Outpost

well season 3 is back and quite good.  Any one else watching this?

Re: The Outpost

I wanted to watch it before Star Trek Discovery, but alas I had to wait and watch it after because it hadn't aired yet.  The plot thickens, but don't worry, Janzo will save the day!

I wasn't impressed by the acting skills of the lead, or the lack-lustre fight scenes in the first couple of episodes, but on your recommendation and with Fear the walking dead and the Mandalorian episodes to be released later in the week as well as Raised by wolves season one concluded; I'll brave episodes 3-4 and see if it keeps me interested enough to keep going.

On the matter of not seeing things I wish there was a way to stop seeing that winking graphic of yours that takes so much useless space including the white space above and below that I have to scroll down to get to the next post. Maybe you should remove the plank from your eye first?
