The show might be less than what I expected...

Re: The Walking Dead: World Beyond [In Development]

The official show title has been announced:

The Walking Dead: World Beyond

(Still hoping it'll be better than that trailer!)

Re: The Walking Dead: World Beyond [In Development]

Ha, from the latest topics list on the homepage I thought another spin-off series was in the works, but I now see that's not the case. tongue

Re: The Walking Dead: World Beyond [In Development]

If I got to decide I would pick a good number of VASTLY different characters having various ages, perhaps including a couple of families, having them start out much like TWD and FTWD at the beginning of the apocalypse, but the entire first season would linger....WAAAAAAY longer at the beginning of it. And explore how they react and die and live and suffer, meet and gets split up and fight and live.
How hard is it to find some interesting characters and let them go through this hell and explore how it affects them?
Say a female physicist married to a previously navy-seal now stay-at-home dad with a few kids that has potential storylines in the future…
How about some sportsdude - perhaps a known baseball-player or something, a very successful gangster, drunken mechanic and a doctor way to attached to his pills. You can have a male librarian that is a wimp, a stripper and/or a (few?) prostitute(s), a loan-shark, a pilot, security guard at a mall that thinks he is a real cop, a zookeeper, some sort of goverment ppl, fireman/woman, coastguard, regular office-workers with some sort of interesting hobbies, failed preppers….dunno…its so easy to find SOMETHING that can be very interessting over time…
Nope…we want 6-7 teenagers. Yeah thatll be awesome!!!

Wow, what a promising idea! Add a few dead junkies (with needles still sticking in their arms and legs) and it's PERFECT! big_smile Hollywood, are you reading this?!

Edit: also, a junkie that still tries to score initially (and visits all the crack houses he knows of, that would of course be filled with crack zombies) could be interesting. At some point he withdraws cold turkey... while his former dealer tries to eat him. cool

Re: The Walking Dead: World Beyond [In Development]

is it not their ST: Discovery season 3? where they can go in any direction?
I thought it was meant to be set after the commonwealth were established with the survivors and after the final comic. So basically as I imagine it will be, after the 3rd Rick movie. Not putting a spoiler thing in because they change it from the comic anyway, but look up the comic if you don't mind comic spoilers

"city morgue, you kill em, we chill em"

New Walking Dead Spinoff: AMC Sets End Date 3 Months Ahead of Premiere
https://tvline.com/2020/01/21/walking-d … o-seasons/

AMC president Sarah Barnett declared that the franchise’s third series (following The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead) would not imitate its predecessors “in substance or form,” before announcing, “World Beyond is a two-season closed-ended series that will tell a very specific and distinct story.”

That sounds like an apology for ruining the IP with teenager rubbish, and a promise "don't worry this will be real quick!" ;-)
