Re: How many TV shows are you currently watching?

After giving it some thought, I realize I'm into a lot of shows even though I thought I wasn't, it just doesn't feel like many shows, because they are so short, with most of them having around 10 episodes per season, and they can be binge watched in a day, and my level of interest is only moderate for about 75% of them.  TV watching is different these days because before there was a show per day that I was totally invested in watching, that would air throughout the entire year with around 20-25 episodes, but now that doesn't really exist for anything good.

Try to spread out a show over a certain amount of days or weeks. Just because you can binge-watch it doesn't mean you have to. I was never tempted to do that (and never did). See what that does to your level of interest. If it's still only moderate most of the time, maybe you need to watch/discover better shows. wink

It's not a total wasteland out there on TV, it's just that seasons aren't as long, and the stories aren't quite as inspired as they once were, at least in my opinion.  I'm always hopeful someone will produce something inspired that lasts for generations.  We really were spoiled in the 2000's.

I didn't see your post when you posted it, but it's still time to disagree. cool

There are so many good shows out there! Just a few for you that you didn't list:

And "lasts for generations" isn't really criteria that I - personally - find important. I want to watch something great now, that I enjoy/that inspires me now... not later. smile (And I hardly ever watch a show again later.)

Re: How many TV shows are you currently watching?

I feel you I'm currently at 122 Active Shows... it's hard to filter and if I miss something I tend not to notice for awhile... like I'm behind on The Sinner. I try to curate my series but for every program I drop, that's no longer fun or wasn't that good, 5 more new series premiere and either I'm starting my 4 Ep Test on them or just downright into them from the start.

The hardest part for me when reviewing what I watch is dropping a series, but at the same time I was so much happier after losing most of the Arrowverse and The Rookie from my watch list.

Good Luck!

You can look at the list under here what I am watching. But these are the ones I watch right now: Another Life, Legion, The 100, Blood & Treasure, Younger, Suits, Private Eyes, Pearson, Krypton, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Elementary, Agents of SHIELD, Killjoys, The Rook, Poldark, Pennyworth, Instinct, and Whose Line is it Anyway.

I watch episode for episode as chronologically to the airing time that I can manage (in Europe). I use the app SeriesGuide for that (has similarities to NE, but has other qualities). If I don't start a show within 4-5 episodes of the first season, I can forget about it. Some exceptions for Netflix and like. I don't like to binge, so if there is a show on Netflix, I mingle it with the others. For example : I have found out that I have to watch 3 shows each day (not more) until the fall season come. Then I watch Another Life as the third one each day. Some days life gets in the way, and I don't watch the third show at all, but it is ok. When AL is finished, I will watch 3 "ordinary" shows.

Stuff has changed since this post. I took on way too many shows last fall, so now I watch 114 shows. I am now in the week after Valentines Day and have over 200 shows in my VLC-list, and more added (and subtracted) each day. I hope I finish during summer, but most shows will start later than normal this year (because of you know what), so I will manage to catch up. I need to be more critical of the shows I take on. I am current on Outlander, Westworld and When Calls the Heart because "everybody" is talking about them.

What really annoys me is when someone quotes a huge long list of text and just replies "Thanks" at the end.  FFS people!

DRM "manages access" in the same way that Prison "manages freedom".

Yes! Forum software should point out stuff like that to the user before accepting a post, teach the users. smile
