https://next-episode.net/another-life Watchlists: 1366
Cast: Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica, Riddick), Jessica Camacho, Selma Blair, Jake Abel, Samuel Anderson, Justin Chatwin, ... Another Life centers on astronaut Niko Breckinridge who is focused on searching for alien intelligence. She leads a crew on a mission to explore the genesis of an alien artifact. As Niko and her young crew investigate, they face unimaginable danger on what might very well be a one-way mission.
Sounds promising!

Re: Another Life [Sci-Fi, Drama]
Even if I have 100 shows on my plate, there's no way I could force myself to hate anything with Katee Sackhoff in it. TV movies excluded. ▼Spoiler The part during the first episode when she demanded manual control of the ship to try and escape the star had me yelling, "YES, THAT'S MY GIRL, THAT'S STARBUCK!!" Okay, time for me to resume...

Wow, episode 1 was so bad, I skipped through some of it. It's like she has forgotten how to act. Truly awful.

Did we watch the same show? I wouldn't nominate the show for best acting awards, but it was a good first episode in my opinion.

Really liking this - has that thing that makes you want to see what happens in the next episode.

Cast - awful Dialogs - facepalm Acting - sad It's supposed to be the most important space mission ever, but for some reason the crew of that spacecraft is like a teen reality show

Hehe, totally agree with you and lighton. It was difficult to let go, but I had to stop at episode five and get some sleep.

Also what the hell is with that never ending LGBTQ force feeding in basically every American show nowadays, it's really necessary to have an Armenian descendant character wearing a lipstick - wtf? Well earned 4.1 on IMDB.

I guess the movie (and TV show) industry went from never showing LGBTQ people to overrepresenting LGBTQ characters (and other minorities) a bit. Several times I wondered when watching Blindspot: does the real FBI employ as many women wearing a headscarf? Muslims make up 1.1 percent of the total U.S. population, but easily 10% of the show's female FBI workforce in some episodes. g371 wrote:Well earned 4.1 on IMDB.
Already 4.2 I understand that some people don't like the show, but 26,9% voting 1/10? That's absurd!

And 0.1% from that 1.1% wear a head scarfs. Same with LGBTQ, they are around 3-5%. There literally are more blind and deaf people than that. A total brainwashing. It's like an ultra liberal product placement.

Not quite... "A 2017 Gallup poll concluded that 4.5% of adult Americans identified as LGBT" Blind: 0.33% of the population* Deaf: 0.38% of the population** * Number of blind persons in the US: 1.1 million* / 327.2 million people in the US = 0.33% - https://actionfund.org/blindness-america ** https://research.gallaudet.edu/Demographics/deaf-US.php

Meh. There has been a severe lack of diversity in movies and TV shows for a long time, and it very much was for oppressive reasons. Now that most of us are trying to leave those times behind some are just overcompensating a bit, that's all. That too will fade eventually, and we will be better off for having both of these "extremes" behind us to be embarassed of. As for the actual show... literally fell asleep during E01, though mostly due to watching it late. They crammed quite a few (often barely related) events into the first episode, did they not?

Yes, they did. I wasn't a huge fan of that, but it all made more sense in following episodes.

Re: Another Life [Sci-Fi, Drama]
I'm on Episode 3. While I can understand the criticisms, I still find it to be an entertaining enough and decent enough show to watch. The point made about the crew selection not reflecting the gravity of the universal predicament, is well taken. You would think they would send the most qualified and renowned experts on the planet, and it appears that is not the case. ▼Spoiler One guy is even questioning his training and why he is there (but there may be reasons for that) At times it has a little "B-movie Budget" feel to it, but if you like the genre enough there is ample quality to maintain interest. I suspect I will finish the entire season with little to no complaints.

Re: Another Life [Sci-Fi, Drama]
Cringed a lot at the complete lack of safety procedures and amazingly stupid stuff the characters got upto. Way overboard with all the sex scenes and relationship dramas. Most of the crew seemed just so... incompetent and stupid. Oh well it had space travel and aliens, so I can mostly ignore the bad in it.

A bit? It's hard to name a TV show from the top of my head that is made in the past 3 years and don't have at least one gay or lesbian in it. But this space Armenian is simply off the charts I certainly hope that it's a trend that will die off and Hollywood will find a new "cause" to fight for.

Re: Another Life [Sci-Fi, Drama]
Lots of potential but Another Life is another example that the current explosion of new scripted shows is dependent on a talent pool of writers, directors and showrunners is increasingly unable to support all the promising projects available. I thought the first episode was somewhat painful to watch. Does it get any better in later eps? On a more positive note I saw the first episode of Pennyworth and it was much better than Another Life. It caught the vibe of Gotham with a British twist and did so quite well. The usual mix of the bizarre and humorous plus those dark Gotham settings. All that fog and mist makes more sense in London.

Yes, the following episodes are more focused. Give them a try.

ep 4 is filler, you can skip it to the end, only last 10 seconds are important

Haters gonna hate! It was only somewhat of a filler episode, I enjoyed it almost as much as the other episodes.
