Me too.    No show is perfect, but I enjoyed this season even if it seems I'm in the minority.

I get the feeling from alot of the comments here that I'm way older than most of us here, and maybe this was a series for us nostalgic old folk, that watched TNG when it first aired?

Hmmm.

enjoyed as well + thinking the same about the age gap

I guess entertainment really is subjective.

I couldn't make it through S1 it was so bad, haven't bothered with S2 but really enjoyed S3, was it contrived nostalgia bait? Yes....and I enjoyed every minute of it.

Strange I am the other way - it got worse . Season 1 was properly called "Picard" by the time it got to season 3 it was a misnomer. They clearly ran out of proper ideas so fell back onto a safe bet. Any one know what the viewing figures were for the seasons? was there a deterioration? My view is clearly some thing went wrong

Yep! +1  Season 3 was a great ride, just enjoy it for what it is; super contrived nostalgia bait.

@merc  Not sure about ratings, but here are the Rotten Tomatoes reviews for Picard Seasons 1, 2, & 3:

https://www.rottentomatoes.com/tv/star_trek_picard

Season 1: 86%
Season 2: 85%
Season 3: 98%

My rating is more along the lines of:

Season 1: 60% - Floundering writers throwing something together.
Season 2: 65% - Deep dive into Picard's childhood and life, and it was Q heavy, full of time travel.  Just not Trek.
Season 3: 84% - The most epic fan service and largest shark jump in the history of the medium! lol  Because clearly they'd run out of ideas, and it's the last hurrah anyway, so might as well pander, and I got the sense the actors knew full well they were pandering and totally in on the joke.  "Swords are more fun", he says, Bahaha. big_smile So good.

I wouldn't put it past them cashing in and making a Season 4 but this time focusing on the other Picard....Jack Picard as per the tease in the post credit scene.

it seems the idea of a "Picard" show turned out to be a damp squib, but not damp enough to end it at season 1.( I see from that link an average score of just 57%, even Sabrina got 70%)  Maybe they had to make a season 3 as the actors were contracted to do so, or pressure from Stewart? But unlike you I deplore the "pandering". pandering to fans the way they seem to have done is pathetic and an admission of failure.  And as for ideas they seem to have the idea at the end of  season 2 with the good borg. I would like to have been a fly on the wall when they made the decision for season 3. I can not say I liked Season 1 of Picard but it was true to the spirit of the title

So that is now 2 dud trek shows - this one and that other one with the old fashioned guy with the 1950's hair style. I think maybe time to stop milking the Trek idea.

Star Trek obviously has a huge fan base.  I really don't understand what is wrong with making a show that the fans will enjoy.  Honestly, I think some people here just hate everything and then go to great lengths to explain why.  If you don't like something turn it off and watch something you do like.  Simple.

fans enjoying a show is not the same as pandering to them . As for suggesting that if you do not 100% approve of a show then do not watch it,is a strange viewpoint.

The show I miss is the one based on the space station"deep space 9" was it?. I am surprised that has not been brought back.

The show that fits into your category is the Mandalorian as I find it bizzare you have a show premised  on you hide your face so all you really need are stunt men and voice overs.

He didn't say 100%.

And I find it strange that you seem to think that every show needs to fit your taste. So he "hides" his face in that show and you don't like it? Don't watch it! You think "pandering" is happening in this show and you don't like it? Don't watch it!

Re: Star Trek: Picard

I am the older part of 69 and watched Star Trek from the start back in the 'old days' mid 1960s.

I did enjoy this last season and look forward to possibly new adventures of 7 of Nine as the captain of USS Enterprise NCC-1701-G.

I don't watch it ( The Mandy show). it seems that Picard DID pander to the fans rather than pursue its original title, it would have been more honest to call the show The Last Generation as in the title of the eps 10.

And see, I would've loved that from the beginning.  Season 1 and 2 were a waste of time, in fact, every Star Trek show from the end of Voyager to the start of Season 3 of Picard, was a waste of time!  At least they finally got it right and got Star Trek back on track, albeit, in a completely contrived lol nostalgia bait approach, lolz.

*Whorf was just messing with those Borg, lol he wasn't even trying to kill them, lol he was just having a laugh in the middle of saving the Federation! The stakes couldn't be higher and here he's screwing around for $h!ts and giggles.  Come on, the finale managed the perfect amount of action comedy to take the piss out of trek while pandering to their core audience, while making fun of their own pandering!  It was great TV, at least for those of us who have a sense of humor.

I really enjoyed the 3rd season. It was fun to see all the oldies back together again. The first 2 seasons were a bit boring for me. I hope they do a spinoff wit Commander 7 of 9.

what about "Enterprise" that detailed the start of it all?  That is the only Trek show I really like.

I already said that it was season 3 that went bad with Picard. Had it kept to the spirit of season 1 and 2 then fine. Well we disagree about "Enterprise" that was the best of the lot - you do not see trekkies doing enterprise do you? that must mean some thing good.

Enterprise was a dumpster fire!  I'd rather watch Discovery, Strange New Worlds, or the Original Star Trek, but everything outside TNG, DS9, Voyager, and Lower Decks, have been so unnecessary as the popular opinion of the core audience has wanted a post Dominion war tie in storyline since the end of DS9.  Perhaps the producers finally caught wind of this reality and, better late than never, decided to randomly insert the story into season 3 of Picard, which is why it feels so off to the first two seasons and yet so so good, for all the fans. lolz.

298

Re: Star Trek: Picard

I enjoyed the show, all three seasons in fact.  However, I'm one of the guys that think season 3 was what we all hoped from the beginning.  I'm with paisley1 on the post dominion war link though.  I really think that the powers that be should be writing a post DS9 (best trek by far) show as I think more fans are wanting that farrrrr more than the dismal Discovery.
