I get it. It's not for everyone. It's probably all the "heists" episodes that do it for me. I dig all that planning and preparation for a "job", then the tension of trying to see it through as timed and planned, without allowing the "human condition" or unforeseen obstacles to interfere. Characters are interesting. Also, it's set in Oceanside/Vista, CA, right outside Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base. I spent about 3 years there and all the references and Tijuana mentions provide a very nostalgic connection for me, personally.
Unaware of excessive drama, but there is some weird uneasiness vibe throughout. Mainly caused by Ellen Barkin's character. Again, not everybody digs that, or the Cali-beachy eye-candy reputation it's garnered. People say it's Sons of Anarchy - like. I never saw that enough to compare the two...
