The series focuses on Eleanor Shellstrop (Kristen Bell), who wakes up in the afterlife and is introduced to "The Good Place", a highly selective Heaven-like utopia, as a reward for her righteous life. However, she realizes that she was sent there by mistake and must hide her morally imperfect behavior while trying to become a better and more ethical person.

The Good Place is such a gem.  I was not expecting much from the dumb comedy, but I loved every bit of it.

This is the bad place. Tonight at the Television Academy in North Hollywood, creator Michael Schur said The Good Place TV show would end with its upcoming fourth season. Schur sounded the death knell during a promotional panel for the show (for Emmy consideration). Season three of The Good Place completed its 13-episode run on January 24, 2019. The fourth and final season should premiere this fall (i.e. in the 2019-2020 television season). Schur and the creative team made the decision to end the comedy — and they have a final season to see it off, so although it is ending, let’s not call The Good Place cancelled..

NBC’s The Good Place is offering up its own version of the Bardo in advance of its final season: The Selection, a six-episode digital series that will serve as a storytelling bridge between the end of season 3 and its fourth and final season, which bows Thursday, Sept. 26 at 9 PM ET/PT.

All six episodes of the digital series are available by downloading the NBC App.

The series features demon Shawn (Marc Evan Jackson) and his cohorts as they decide which deceased humans to send to Michael’s (Ted Danson) newly formed afterlife neighborhood to thwart his benevolent plan. The series is written by the staff that creates The Good Place series.

Since the NBC App won't run on my device (based on the reviews that might be a good thing) and their site (apparently https://www.nbc.com/the-good-place/vide … on/4027739) seems to be blocked for anyone outside the US (sucks when that happens) I'm hoping the specials will show up on YouTube some day...

Watched the whole series but didnt even bother with the last 3 episodes. Have heard the finale is really good but the last season was so soppy and funless I don't know if I can be arsed. Felt like it was taxiing in towards the end and gone too preachy

The only fun characters in the last season for me were Bad Janet and that straight-laced looking hell head-honcho with the foul mouth and imaginative torture regimens.

I liked seasons 1 and 2 very much. Season 3 was a little confusing and not so funny and heartwarming as the previous ones, but season 4 got better again. I especially liked the ending. It was very moving. smile

A very good series, worth watching. smile
