Re: Star Trek: Discovery
I think Orlando's comment (way above) sums it all up Paraphrasing here It's cool to have two good SciFi shows at the same time If you don't like one or the other, no hassle Those of us why like both (including me) are rather happy ATM If you don't like one of them, simply don't watch it - the rest of us will love the other(s)

Re: Star Trek: Discovery
Amen to that. When it comes to decent (or any) SciFi on TV (or the movies) it is better to have too many choices than too few.

Daemons are benevolent or benign nature spirits, beings of the same nature as both mortals and gods, similar to ghosts, chthonic heroes, spirit guides, forces of nature or the gods themselves.

Re: Star Trek: Discovery
Well we all suspected this was gonna happen and alt universe If anyone watches After Trek (not generally in torrent but on Netflix outside USA) Tyler confirmed a long-held belief we've had that he's also the actor who player Voq - mucho fan-theories over that one... I guess we're headed for a few cliff-hangers. What is alt-universe DISCO doing in ours is the big one. I could mention more but won't for a spoiler-free(ish) post

Re: Star Trek: Discovery
As it appears they've been working up to this all season I can only wonder what surprises we've got left If you've done a torrent on it you'll have seen next week's teaser - I won't spoil As for AfterTrek, you could wait for the last ep - sign up for a week then cancel if you're in US/CA but I guess this is fairly pointless other than for the actor's takes on the scenes

Oh Just thought This one makes Orlando happy as it explains everything (so maybe he don't hate DISCO any more?) Damned good plot...

Re: Star Trek: Discovery
Yeah it definitely explains a lot but some of us already had an idea of what was actually happening after watching the sixth episode, 'Lethe'. I posted a link back on page three that pretty much hit the nail square on the head with much of what I suspected after watching 'Lethe'. Still jawdropping nonetheless watching everything unfold. I don't want to spoil things here either (even with spoiler tags) but I will say that there's definitely more to come than meets the eye.

Dude whats up with your listening/reading skills First you say Orlando likes The Orville, which he hates, then you say he hates DISCO, which he likes. Not sure what's happening here

One Q I have about last week Is that Doug Jones who Burnham selects out of the Kelpians? The eyes look very familiar It sorta makes sense that she'd do that by accident Roll on the next one - can't wait

Re: Star Trek: Discovery
Well if we're talking about the same thing here then, yeah, I definitely peeped that, however.... ▼Spoiler At first glance we were led to believe that PU Stamets was on the Discovery, and MU Stamets was on the palace ship, and they didn't switch, because it cut from a close-up on Prime Stamets' face with "Otherworldly Culber" telling him to open his eyes to the same close-up on some Stamets' face opening his eyes on the ISS Charon. But upon further review, I don't think it's right (though I think it's likely that we were meant to think that) The Stamets that wakes up on the Charon says "I'm back. He did it." This makes sense if it's Goatee Stamets; he had been trapped for a long time, was unable to get himself back, and had hoped that Prime Stamets would be able to do it.
On the other side, I don't think it really makes sense if it's Prime Stamets. Who's "he"? I guess "Otherworldly Culber?" What did he "do"? Did Prime Stamets think "Otherworldly Culber" brought him back? Eh, that's a bit of a stretch in my book... and if so it seems like a fairly tortured reading, whereas the "it's Goatee Stamets" reading seems straightforward and natural. On the Discovery, when Tilly tells some Stamets that "some things have happened" since he was last conscious, he assures her that "I know about Hugh". Prime Stamets knew about Hugh, because 'Otherworldly Hugh' told him.
Goatee Stamets, on the other hand, previously didn't even recognize the name "Hugh", let alone learn that Hugh had died or that that would be something that someone would think would be of special note to Prime Hugh. Might he have just been pretending not to recognize the name? Eh, another stretch... I guess, but... why would he?
Warning: Big time spoilers 8 questions I have after watching Star Trek Discovery season 1 episode 12 - Vaulting Ambition
