Using that particular name was definitely a nod to the audience, but the way I understood it, she was actually excited about Starfleet having been around long enough to have "J" versions of names. ▼Spoiler Re: Star Trek: DiscoveryThe only problem I have with the show is that it isnt a Netflix show as then could watch them all in an evening or two. These drip drip feeds not really satisfactory Re: Star Trek: DiscoveryI like binging as much as the next guy, but sometimes with shows it's better to have some time reflect on a previous episode rather than just be done with the whole season in a lazy sunday. I think this is one of these as I'm not really a trekkie and I enjoy getting all the lore tidbits other fans point out during the week after. Re: Star Trek: Discoverymerc_1 wrote:
Really? I grew up watching weekly episodes, binge-watching wasn't a thing. Plus living in the UK meant a series (not a season) consisted of 6 epispodes, then you'd have to wait for a whole year before the next one. Netflix seem to cancel everything too early now though. It's good that we have so much choice, but I'd prefer quality over quantity any day. 2020. Meh.

I don't hate it, it just didn't interest me. The mood seems pretty different in here, I get the impression a lot of you seem to like it, I'm curious how many of you are big original and TNG fans? Re: Star Trek: Discoveryproteinnerd wrote:
Me, I'm a big fan of TOS and TNG. Disco doesn't feel anything like either of those, it's different in probably every single way. To be honest, up until this series I've not been that bothered, but this one is definitely better in my opinion. While it's still not anything like TOS or TNG, it's just heading in a better direction. Maybe. 2020. Meh.

I didn't like TOS that much, but I'm a big TNG fan. Discovery is very different but I look forward to each new episode. Some shows you might <3 too: https://next-episode.net/messiah https://next-episode.net/devs https://next-episode.net/ted-lasso https://next-episode.net/the-outsider

I'm bored of the old shows watched them all and probably more than once like Gilligan's Island and the like. I didn't get into any of the other Star Treks much if any any but I do like Discovery. Something refreshing and appealing about it. It amuses me how she (actress Sonequa Martin-Green) reincarnated from a TWD zombie who surprised Negan ; ) to Burnham, haha. Daemons are benevolent or benign nature spirits, beings of the same nature as both mortals and gods, similar to ghosts, chthonic heroes, spirit guides, forces of nature or the gods themselves. 237 2020-11-25 05:25:01 (edited by LuC 2020-11-25 05:26:07)Re: Star Trek: DiscoveryDaemonius wrote:

Loved TNG DS9 - Never got into it back when it was aired, as it was too different to TNG for me but i recently watched the whole thing on Netflix and enjoyed it VOY - First season meh, second season a bit better, third season better, fourth season as soon as 7of9 comes, Voyager got very good and very much enjoyed the rest of it. ENT - First season meh, second season a bit better, third and fourth season better, but was never a big fan of it Disco - First season visually great, characters not really likable, dident care much, second season a bit better but still only okish, third season so far not bad but The Orville reminded me that i like the older style better 240 2020-11-26 04:16:11 (edited by merc_1 2020-11-26 04:17:33)Re: Star Trek: DiscoveryWhat about "Picard"? ps be careful or the negativity cop will come after you Re: Star Trek: DiscoveryI've probably seen all of the older series (TOS through to Voyager) at least once or twice, I enjoy it if I happen to see it but its not something I actively seek out to rewatch. Enjoyed Voyager the most, especially once 7 of 9 appeared, yes for the obvious reasons but also felt the stories improved as well. Haven't seen Enterprise at all...may check it out one day. Saw Disco S1 and kinda enjoyed the new direction even if it didn't feel like ST, got thoroughly bored midway through S2 and didn't finish it, I haven't bothered with S3...I just don't really like any of the main characters. Only lasted 2-3 episodes into Picard, that really didn't feel like a continuation of the same character from TNG. I do keep hearing good thing about The Orville though so might try to check that out instead. 242 2020-11-26 13:02:33 (edited by Lollie 2020-11-27 01:58:03)Re: Star Trek: DiscoveryOh that was civil.
