Topic: Letterkenny

https://next-episode.net/letterkenny

Anyone seen it?
2 series so far ( 12 episodes + a bonus)
I am absolutely loving it!
I only discovered it from a random clip someone posted on Twitter about a month ago, and I've already watched both series 4 times..
Unfortunately It's only (legally) available from CraveTV.ca
The sooner this gem gets released to the world the better.

Plenty of clips on YT to tell if it's your sort of comedy but as I say I can't get enough!

A little clip showing what sort of comedy it is.

Really surprised nobody on here has heard of it..

I watched a few of the clips on YouTube, but it's really not for me.

I found the main character to be like a really unfunny Gordon Cole from Twin Peaks.  And Gordon Cole wasn't funny.

2020.  Meh.

Re: Letterkenny

That's a shame, I have to admit it took me a few episodes before i 'got' the humour, now I literally can't get enough
I only started watching as i'd loved the hockey clips i'd seen, but it's so much more than just hockey guys banter.
The characters are so well written/acted I honestly think it will be a massive once it gets outside of Canada.

I never watched Twin Peaks, though I heard it's good (and coming back)

PS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9rSBmOgpcDE
A better clip^^ the opening of the 1st episode

Re: Letterkenny

Series 3 out big_smile
(well the first 6)

Only watched 1 so far, but loving it.

- I'm going to keep bumping this as I'm honestly astounded that none of you have seen it -

Greybags!
I'm upto date with Twin peaks now weirdly..
I hammered the 1st 2 series and now caught up. (loving it btw)
But I honestly don't see the resemblance with Gordon and Wayne.

And I actually think Gordon is well funny.

Re: Letterkenny

It's his deadpan delivery and accent more than anything.

I find Gordon funny too, Wayne... not so much.

Still, I'm glad you're loving Twin Peaks, me too.

2020.  Meh.

If neither of these clips convince you non-watchers then I might give up trying (might)

Both Kevin Smith And big Brad Pitt are huge fans  big_smile big_smile

I just want to chat about it with someone outside of Reddit...

Well with such a witty retort you must be in to some GREAT comedies, what DOES make you keep your eyes open comedy-wise?

In this clip we see the Dyck's (pronounced dik's)
played by Jonathan Torrens of Trailer park boys and Lori Grimes of The Walking Dead looking for their daughters.

Re: Letterkenny

Well those are all really good shows that I enjoy too.
Silicon valley is the only one that makes me laugh anywhere near as much as Letterkenny though, and it's over now so only Letterkenny to watch wink

BTW How have you managed to become admin when you've been here less than 2 years?

Re: Letterkenny

the first time i watched the first episode it felt like the first time i saw a balloon slowly deflate when i was a child
the second time i watched the first episode it felt like it was my birthday

it contains multitudes to be sure, and definitely grows on you
it's just wholesome and f'd up all in one

i'm going to eat your brains and gain your memories...

Re: Letterkenny

Finally got enough of a gap in the endlessly regenerating queue to watch some of these. I'm in s3 now. In a parallel universe where I weren't oddly compelled to watch tons of crap and could watch only what I actually like I could envision parallel me just keeping these on all the time.

I do have to rewind for dialogue more at normal speed for this than I do on other shows at double or more speed. And sure as God's got sandals you know this'd be the one show where the sub synching is just a dumpster fire. Found a set that syncs for s3 on my third try but had to go without on 1/2 as it was easier to go without than keep trying to adjust them.

23

Re: Letterkenny

Yeah those first 3 seasons are relentless, just back to back one liners, all so good it's hard to keep up.
I find myself rewinding a lot myself too, either because I missed some of the local dialect (it's apparently very close to the region of Canada the show is based) or because I was laughing so hard i couldn't hear it.

It really is one of those shows you get more out of the second watch too, as like you say, there's so much going on so TO BE FAIIIIIIRR you are bound to miss stuff. But more than that, there is some REALLY nice camera work going on, the cinematography is just outstanding but can be missed as you are thoroughly concentrating on the characters/writing.

There is serious love in this show.
You can tell the writing/directing/acting is all done by all the same people.

And there's also Gail.... How amazing is she... yikes lol
She is so talented irl, just playing this crazy barmaid to perfection.

I'm so glad there's someone else here that enjoys it.

Re: Letterkenny

Yeah she's great. Really every character is just amazingly done.
Saw that Shoresy is getting a spin-off. Be funny to see how they have a show based on an unseen face.

Yeah looking forward to that, the latest trailer actually shows his face for the first time.
