Topic: Iron Fist

Next up in the Netflix canon of Marvel adaptations is Iron Fist.

These Netflix series have become some of the highlights of my TV year. All episodes released March 17th.

Re: Iron Fist

I do want to see how they adapt the "punching the dragon through the heart" backstory!!!

Re: Iron Fist

I'm like'n it a lot so far, but i may be biased cause i think colleen wing is a hottie ;-)

7

Re: Iron Fist

OK - 4 episodes in.

Hooked from the very 1st few scenes.

8

Re: Iron Fist

did 9 episodes and great. a lot changed from the comic, which as a huge comic fan, i actually enjoy, because it keeps it surprising. Like the latest Arrow. Actually surprised me, when I was sitting there thinking I knew what was going to happen. I think they have done a very good job with the characters and story. And all tie ins are a nice smirk here and there too

"city morgue, you kill em, we chill em"

Re: Iron Fist

I have no idea what the negative initial reviews were about (they pre-released the first 6 episodes to reviewers and they weren't great reviews at all) ....I'm loving it so far...much more than Luke Cage.

Re: Iron Fist

Luke Cage was crap, this is good.

Re: Iron Fist

Is it just me, but the intro music sounds a lot like Tron.

DRM "manages access" in the same way that Prison "manages freedom".

You mean Daft Punk in Tr2n? And no, it's not just you.

PS. This show is great.

Re: Iron Fist

I've seen a lot of negative reviews but I don't care. Just because 2 or 3 doofballs don't like it does not mean that the rest of the planet wont.

Re: Iron Fist

Left after 20 minutes. Not feeling the need to come back.

Re: Iron Fist

I was also put off by he bad reviews but found the first episode as good as Jessica Jones and the other two set in that universe. Will try the rest.

16

Re: Iron Fist

Watched it all in a day. I think the show is a bit more fragmented than the previous shows. The main antagonist shifted a million times.

I also think that there was a tad too much idiot plot going on here.

But overall i don't regret watching it, I especially liked Wards character. The actor was perfect fiit, that dude had THE most fucked up life of everyone in that show.

17

Re: Iron Fist

I enjoyed it, but it wasn't up to the same standard as the other Netflix Marvel adaptations IMO. Something wasn't quite right with the portrayal of the main character. We know as much about him after the series as we did when it started, there was zero character development.

Still prefer the adult nature of the Netflix adaptations compared to the "early evening family entertainment" ethos of CW's DC Comics titles.

Re: Iron Fist

I think the show was OK, but not more. I disliked the main character more and more, through out the series. Like a five year old, he kept acting without thinking and threw fits of rage whenever someone disagreed with him.

It might be that the character was meant to be this way on the count of him growing up without a somewhat normal emotional development. But even so, I found him a bit dim while he kept seeing himself as having the moral high ground. It made me dislike him and I like to like my heroes smile

Re: Iron Fist

Danny, the most annoying asshole in TV history...

20

Re: Iron Fist

This must be the most annoying show i've seen in a while.

Main character is garbage, and every cast from the other shitty marvel series is garbage.
dannys asian chick is garbage, not to mention she has no skills in posing or fighting. It looks awful.

The fighting looks cheap and it feels like there is 0 force behind punches, you can clearly see they have been trained for about 10hour total on how to move around trying to look good. It's also way to obvious when dannys fighter step in takes over.

I was really looking forward to this show and forced myself to watch 9 episodes, but that was my limit.

Oh just a side note, watched the 2. season premier of Into the Badlands. Now thats how you do fighting scenes...

Re: Iron Fist

ok, as a big comic fanboy, i see pretty much every comic related show out there. I won't say this is the worst (because it isn't) but I will say its the worst Marvel Netflix show... by far!

All I could think of when watching that dumb Danny actor/character was Napoleon Dynamite!
Exactly the same.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9veiT0hCf0

His acting was poor, he was portrayed as such a dumb character (no idea if that was deliberate), he made ridiculous constant facial expression and omg, what a bloody baby!

Basically, overall, extremely disappointed with this show.

Brothers! What we do in life...Echoes in Eternity!

I think Im OD'd on superheroes.

Re: Iron Fist

Yeah I kind of feel the same way when it comes to this show; barely topping Luke Cage as the worst from Netflix's original Marvel series lineup as far as I'm concerned but FAR from being the worst ever. One of the main points I took away from the series midway through was that the makers of Iron Fist have decided to take the long road to unveiling certain key points based on its comic book counterpart. Major key points if I may add that will undoubtedly thrust this series forward. Currently as it stands, season two of Daredevil IMO remains the #1 best Netflix has to offer from its vault of Marvel adaptations followed by, wait for it........ season 1 of Daredevil. wink

And honestly IMO the fighting scenes were pathetic but far, and I do mean FAR, from being the worst I've ever seen from a television show period! The Iron Fist that I want to see fight is the one we saw in the black-and-white footage defending K’un-Lun! In retrospect it's kind of unfair to compare the fighting scenes from this show to the likes of Into the Badlands, or even shows like Banshee, Arrow or Daredevil for that matter. Those shows are in the upper echelon when it comes to ass-kicking.

With that being said I did expect better but wasn't sitting beside myself with grief and disappointment (I watched all 13 episodes). Hopefully they'll get their act together in season two, no pun intended...

The Defenders better not disappoint!! hmm

Re: Iron Fist

Weakest link in the Netflix-Marvel partnership yet. Seems just a bit too "wait for the defenders" for my taste. Too messy, to many angles going at the same time, to many plot twists to make one really care.
Plus, I particularly did not like the way the handled Danny's personality, he does not sound or act as someone who spent 15 years training as a zen-kung-fu-master. It should have been a bit more mystical too.

Everybody lives, just this once, everybody lives!

25

Re: Iron Fist

Overall I enjoyed it but it wasn't "great". I didn't make it all the way through Luke Cage so I guess that means I enjoyed it more than that one.

I dont know anything abut the character but for a zen master, he doesn't really seem to be in control of himself or his emotions? Maybe that is part of who he is in the comics?

The main thing I was disappointed with was the quality (lack of) in the fight scenes....Daredevil was so much better than this its not funny and surely the actor playing Danny could have hit the gym....the guy looks as soft as my 4 week old baby...again, the guy playing Daredevil looks the part.

Not hating on it, but it should have been better.
