Re: The Expanse

Yeah, that's correct. Bobbie was still chewing on that cucumber sandwich from earlier in the scene. BTW, I love Shohreh Aghdashloo as Chrisjen Avasarala in The Expanse, and I also adored her as Dina Araz in 24. As a follower of the books, I can't imagine anyone else playing the role of Chrisjen Avasarala; and to think that they actually had to tone her character down for cable. Chrisjen Avasarala's vulgarity is brilliant character development that will most likely be on par with the books moving forward on Amazon.

It is rather disconcerting that you just so happen to have that particular random scene ready. I could not find it.

Not really a development at all but certainly a refreshing character trait in such a stiff diplomatic setting.

True, but it's more of a development with Shohreh continuing to improve as the character she's portraying; although her character's charm has evolved to razor-sharp precision levels in the novels. Shohreh had a hard time with swearing at first because it's so coarse and actually practiced in front of a mirror. It was one of many aspects she had to endure, portraying Chrisjen Avasarala on the show, but she soldiered through it and sold it IMO. She has made great strides since season one. Cussing up a storm is just one of many of Avasarala's traits, as she's also inspiring, sarcastic, cunning, rude, ruthless, and very effective at what she does. She can be brutally honest and fiendishly dissembling. She's not to be taken lightly.

Larger than life, well-drawn characters like Avasarala was a challenge for Shohreh. Here's a quote from her that best describes her reaching a certain level of believability as an actress...

"Being organic is all about understanding your character and not judging them. Finding the common elements in your character that relate to you. I call this part 'wearing the skin of my character.' Most importantly, be true to yourself, don't act – live the character." — Source

I think that's why Shohreh as Avasarala is an instant favorite for fans and the showrunners. Avasarala has always been a fan favorite in the books, and I believe most fans of the novels feel Shohreh has done an excellent job portraying the character on-screen.

Re: The Expanse

This is The Expanse we're talking about, so I'm not even gonna go there. For now, I will tip my hat to the impressive skills of the SFX crew and trailer editors and wait for the full serving. wink
