8.4/10 https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3230854/ Wow, this is really really bad. The wife and I only watched 13 minutes before switching it off. This must be one of the worst show I have ever tried to watch.

Re: The Expanse
Really? I thought the pilot was a good start. Overall quality looked better than other sci-fi like Killjoy. (It is based on a books series, but I haven't read it.)

Re: The Expanse
I really Like it. It has a very interesting universe and as i have learned from Dark Matter character development takes time. Very little that jumps out as "bad". Edit: Halfway to episode 4 i kept thinking "This is so cool!"

Re: The Expanse
I quite liked the pilot, haven't watched more than that yet. Really loved the "low gravity enviorment not allowing to survive on Earth concept" which I have seen in animes, but never in proper shows/movies. Also impressed by the production values. I might have some doubts about the plots future, but all the other technical aspects done right makes me not care about it much - well... for the moment. I geniuenly wondered how they did the 0-gravity shots so well at first, but it helped me get immersed in the world to the point where I stopped thinking about those things. PS: that sex scene in 0 gravity was the worst part of the episode. I kept thnking "how are they going up and down" and when the acceleration happened "shouldn't that have broken his dick?"... ... am I getting too old perhaps?

I was impressed by the production values but it didn't grab me at the time.....maybe I need to give it another go over the holidays.

Re: The Expanse
LOL, I came to this thread and the first two comments had me worried and leaning towards putting this series on the back shelf but as I scrolled down some more I started to breathe a sigh of relief. I'll reserve judgement once this season is completed and I've watched it all in its entirety but I'm glad to hear some enjoyed it, and I'm also surprised but glad to hear there's decent production values. It sounds interesting and I have it queued up to watch once the season ends, so I can binge straight through it. Damn you Netflix for engraining that method of attack in me. P.S. - Been meaning to dive into the books too but that's another story for a later time...

Re: The Expanse
I liked the first episode. Far better than an over-hyped 7th installment of a movie franchise known more for toys than plot. Kinda strange that episodes 2 through 4 showed up online all at once.

Re: The Expanse
I think that it is not fair to judge a series by the first episode. I've seen all four aired and I quite like it. I am not a prude, but the new series from this year have a lot of sex scenes. like Jessica Jones. @xzeal - the Zero G shots were made with wires in a blue/green sceen enviroment, but there was a special Airbus A300 where the Zero G could be "emulated". Re: The Expanse
Like it so far. For all the schlock SyFy produces they do manage to create some gems on a regular basis. Many of these seem to come from Canada.

The floating hair and the blood though, those were green screen? Those were the parts that had me impressed. Seen the next 3 episodes too now and thumbs up from me. No aliens, but the deformed humans will do . Plenty of great concepts so far, geniuenly fascinated with the setting. Might even read the books - that is the best rating I could give.

Re: The Expanse
This is the best tv-show i have seen in many years, it is just awesome. Both as scifi and also just as a tv-show. Really high quality stuff, but most important it is exciting and you really want to see more all the time. Perfectly balanced. I can not praise this high enough i just love it. Not just because it is scifi. 13 minutes of episode 1 is NOT ENOUGH you need to try again. You watched just until the sex scene. I also was kind of sceptical in the absolute beginning, worried it was a new defiance or something, but then it really takes off and gets good. Also, there are no more silly sex scenes after that first one, atleast not in the first four episodes. It is not even there to show sex, but to establish the relationship of that couple.

Re: The Expanse
First of all, defiance turned out great in the end as well. Second, yes, I really love the work they put into making it look like they're actually in space, actually doing high g burns, the gravity losses. And yeah, i think they just wanted to show zero g sex for science Having read the books as well, I kinda like where this is going.

Re: The Expanse
Attention to scientific realism and decent FX is impressive. Cast and scripts are good as well. Damn, it is a Golden Age (tm) for TV. So much quality stuff, so little time.

Re: The Expanse
The Expanse has a BSG vibe to it, especially from episode four on. The renewal decision may have been influenced by the similarity.

Oh yeah, most definetaly. I'm actually selling the show to others as "BSG with the action and politics, but without the mystical bullshit".

Re: The Expanse
From what I know of the source material for the show, there will not be any mystical BS, but there will be some interesting surprises.

Re: The Expanse
Yeah this is definitely the real deal! Just finished watching this season in like a day and a half and I absolutely loved it. Honestly, I was into it from the beginning because it just felt like the seams were going to burst, and the story was about to explode at any given moment, which was evident by the 4th episode onward. A fast paced, visually stunning series that contains political intrigue and vivid cultural display of a diverse solar system, large enough to the tell the story, and yet paradoxically, the story told is that the solar system isn't enough. The style, CGI, and political theme does remind me of BSG but The Expanse also has its own unique signature deeply woven throughout its deep complex and atmospheric story, dynamic characters and OST; shrouded in intrigue, mystery, suspense and horror, laced with action packed thrills. The story does start off slow but quickly gains ground and completes everything full circle towards the end. My favorite characters are Naomi, Miller and Amos, also gotta say that seeing Athena Karkanis (tv crush lol), Jared Harris and Chad Coleman was the biggest and best surprise for me. Man, Amos Burton is pure psycho!! LOL. Who would you pick in a FIGHT, Amos or Master Sgt. Ronald Greer from SGU?

Re: The Expanse
I really wanted to love this show, but after 6 episodes I kinda dropped it, I want to see the rest, but it feels like a hazzle, and a likable/good show should not. I think my main problem with the show is there is no likable characters for me, I loved the martian who interrogated the miners. He was very interesting, and would be a perfect fit to join their escape and helping in finding out who the unknown 3. party was. But sadly they killed him off, what a waste... I don't find the rogue cop, the mininer crew (except Amos, he was mildly interesting) or any of the people on earth interesting or worth cheering on. A friend of mine said the last few episodes were good, but I can't see how they can turn it around for the better. Is it worth watching the last episodes?

If you watched 6 episodes, there's no point. It's just not a show for you.
