But in the original show everyone is infected and they all turn after they die. So imo the only logical explanation is the airborne spread (maybe water supply infection if it was intentional)... question is how long it takes to cover the entire planet. But yeah, we won't find out since the show ain't about that. ;p
Later on maybe everyone will be ordered to take flu shots or something, and it's spread widely at that moment. And maybe the guys in the original show got it from a bunch of natural, infected water supplies (or from eating animals they hunted), after all the dead had piled up and leeched all their virus bits into the water table (and upwards from there).

Re: Fear the Walking Dead
It was ok, pretty much what I expected. The biggest issue I see is, its following primarily one family....do we really expect any of them to die? That was/is the best part of TWD, apart from a very small number of people, anyone can die at any time.

Yeah this is a problem, makes it far less realistic. Though at least we'll never get to lose a fav character if any of the family manage to endear themselves to us.

I've watched the last scene a few times and it's hard to say if ▼Spoiler the mother was bitten or did the fabric prevent her from being infected.

▼Spoiler Well they have said that the 2 main characters are the guidance councillor and the school teacher so I highly doubt they will killer her off in the first few episodes...

Maybe the kids are up for grabs then at least My pick for first we care about to die is the father's actual son, Chris (not Nick the junkie, his stepson). I imagine that will get us some sad face closeups. I expect the ex wife (Liza Ortiz) won't die for a while - ▼Spoiler she established herself as "the bitch" with her sneery triumphant facial expression, when the real son made it clear he didn't want to hang with his dad (remember that phone call), plus she's a trainee nurse, so I imagine they'll keep her around because she's "needed" with her medical experience...she can provide extra conflict for the family (arguments/affairs/general drama).

Re: Fear the Walking Dead
The pilot was ok but felt a bit long in parts. I nearly dident recognize the daughter without her face paint and weapons, she looks a bit innocent but maybe she will slay some zombies later. http://www.hypable.com/the-100-season-2 … -synopsis/

She also played a role of a hot teenager in Into the Storm.

The ▼Spoiler fabric definitely saved her. They also didn't show her nursing any wound, and in all the later shots her sleeve looked intact. ^chompFAIL - zombies aren't very bright

If anything is going to get this family killed it's ▼Spoiler the father and his terrible driving skills... ^hey yeah let's reverse at high speeds into a big truck
Also, I am rooting for ▼Spoiler Tobias, hope he doesn't get killed off.

Second episode was okay. Let's just hope that the religious bullshit won't take over Travis's part of the story.

Beverly 902102015.8 , with zombies. Just saw eps 1 and 2. Sorry, can't see it happen: What's happening, what's happening, what's happening, people screaming, dying, riot, police not doing anything except shooting somebody 20 times, and STILL look at your phone to see what'sapp, whoehahaha, take out back and silently put to sleep please. Thank you. I'm not one to post a bashing, first time in years actually, everyone his own thing. Don't like it, don't watch it. But this is an insult, even for a spin-off. Yech 1.85 min of life wasted. J.

Re: Fear the Walking Dead
I always give shows three episodes to come of age. Also this is the first zombie show I've been able to share with my more mainstream friends, and have them enjoy. I don't think this is aimed at hardcore hack n slashers and people who like all the usual zombie fare (gore and splatter)...this is one more for the majority view, and people who like a bit of story with their chaos. I think it's good this is getting out to the wider public. If you take the time to notice, there's some reasonably contentious viewpoints being subtly expressed.

It was just one prayer. Kind of not surprising given what he saw . jsj wrote:But this is an insult, even for a spin-off. Yech 1.85 min of life wasted.
I find it quite the contrary. A nice realistic (sort of) take on the first days. As for the drama, it could have been any other family with a different background but it had to be something and so far I'm ok with this one. Seeing people bite each other for hours would've been redundant and boring.
Myka : You slept with her didn't you ? Pete : Well... you... you told me to investigate ok ? So... she's unarmed.

I was talking about the entire Mexican family they encountered. The old lady is clearly very religious and the imdb says they will all star in at least 4 episodes.

Who cares if they pray or not, TWD series has made it clear praying has nothing to do with anything. Let them take comfort where they can.

Re: Fear the Walking Dead
Normally I would, but there's a chance they'll do something stupid, like because God thinks killing zombies is a sin and praying as a group is the only solution to survive the zombiecalypse. ;p Besides Travis and his family are guests so I assume they won't have the final word on what to do.

I expect a bunch of people to do dumb shit. Religion, bad driving, junkie problems, family drama, wrecking your own neighbourhood in riots, hostility towards strangers...this is basically what the show is about - normal people and how they're not ready to deal with a zombiocalypse *end of life as we know it* situation.

Re: Fear the Walking Dead
You're probably right. It's because I grew up watching the 80s and 90s slashers and I always shouted at the screen, because the characters were doing dumb things and getting themselves killed. Guess that stayed with me and I always like to comment if what they're doing will help them survive or not. If I was in a zombie apocalypse I'd stay away from the religious folk. ;p

Re: Fear the Walking Dead
I was shouting at the screen during that ▼Spoiler zombie attack on Tobias, when the mom was just standing there derping. I figure thanks to all our collected yelling she finally woke up and took that zombie out :3 The mystery remains though - did they ever get that trolley full of food?

Re: Fear the Walking Dead
I really liked episode 2, it was much more entertaining than I expected. It's probably pretty realistic in that a lot of people walk around not really looking at what's going on and are oblivious to stuff happening around them....they are zombies in their own way I guess. Anyway it was much better than I was expecting, not a lot of action it its interesting to put yourself in their shoes, until something clicks and you know that your dealing with a walking corpse, I'd be pretty reluctant to put a blade in someone's head , or deliberately run over them for the 3rd time in your car.

Re: Fear the Walking Dead
The pace of this show makes sense - ▼Spoiler it'd be about right having the first outbreak then having the military come in to contain it. So now everyone is all relieved thinking everything is under control...this actually makes it more interesting, seeing people relax, then hell breaks loose again and probably in large numbers instead of the one zombie weakly tapping on the fence...when hundreds of zombies start tearing through the nice neighbourhoods they'll realise there's no going back. ^calm before the storm
Also that Spanish guy Daniel Salazar seems like an asset - knows how to handle a gun, already knows it's all gone too far. Wonder if he'll be able to kill the wife when her foot rot kicks in though...

Re: Fear the Walking Dead
Its kinda scary to think how reliant we are on power for almost everything! Even including simple stuff like basic entertainment, I don't think I actually have any board games in my house (apart from a deck of cards and UNO)!
