http://xkcd.com/488/ Re: Dark Matterseriously it feels like all these episodes are just filler after filler, i will watch this though cuz there isnt anything else to watch on saturdays. I wish they make a good scifi space someday.. Re: Dark MatterThe young girl, the big bad good guy, the reapers... I mean infected and much more. Although a Firefy-like was needed, stretching dangerously to the copycat-like. Myka : You slept with her didn't you ?
Pete : Well... you... you told me to investigate ok ? So... she's unarmed. Re: Dark MatterThese are old ideas. Another similar show is Cowboy Bebop, and then there was Star Wars and so on. Re: Dark MatterSuasor wrote:
Heh? Must be something I'm not familiar with (SW after Bebop? ) or I'm misinterpreting the sentence. Anyway, there's almost nothing original today but to this point, if falls under the wee bit annoying (for me). If there is a train raid or a no fuel episode, it will strike a nerve. Myka : You slept with her didn't you ?
Pete : Well... you... you told me to investigate ok ? So... she's unarmed. Re: Dark MatterThere are only so many plot devices that work. Some of these plots go back thousands of years (based on surviving works and possibly longer based on what has been lost.) It is generally the same from culture to culture. The plot devices for Star Wars came from Japan, for example. Google plot types for examples of this. A lot of this data is computerized now and many screen writers use special software to generate plots, breakdowns and so on. You can google for more on that as well. Oh, and more and more production companies use services that monitor discussion boards for audio reaction to detect problems (boring or repetitive plots) that can be fixed. You are being watched.... Re: Dark MatterI know most/some of that. The point is that there is obvious/inspired and then there is the very-obvious/near copy. This show is slowly reaching the latter for me. For someone who didn't see Firefly, it won't have that effect. It's an observation. I am fully aware I am being watch, I just received my tax return. They didn't bite that I was from Glendattu. Myka : You slept with her didn't you ?
Pete : Well... you... you told me to investigate ok ? So... she's unarmed. Re: Dark Matteranother filler episode... dont know why i am even trying to watch this, i had to fastforward thru most of the episode Re: Dark MatterWizard wrote:
I did the same after last weeks episode very poor Re: Dark Matteri'm sticking with it.... it's the only chance i get to see some of the SG:Atlantis peeps on a show again. Re: Dark MatterWhy are so many of you saying this is bad? I think it is quite awesome. I watch the episodes without even pressing pause, don't want them to end and look forward to the next one. All that only happens with the shows i like the most. How is it bad? I like it. Can't find anything bad about it. This last episode was defintively not a filler episode it revealed LOTS of stuff about their backstories, and even gave us the password for the door but the crew have not figured this out yet. Also, they do not copy stories from other shows, which show was like this one? Similar does not count as copy. Obviously all shows nowadays will be more or less similar to others because most things have been done. Re: Dark MatterAgreed, latest ep advanced the story quite a bit and was well done. 38 2015-08-02 21:56:38 (edited by Lollie 2015-08-02 23:51:35)Re: Dark MatterSix gets busted hoarding the good protein bars. I like this episode, what with the ▼Spoiler but with those things being possible and quite cheap, wouldn't that mean there'd basically be no point ever doing any kind of criminal activity unless you were using one? ![]() Re: Dark MatterApparently that stuff is relatively expensive and they could not afford it until they broke into the vault and found all that cash. BTW, "Star Wars 36", "supposed to be a classic". 40 2015-08-15 07:09:03 (edited by Lollie 2015-08-15 07:19:35)Re: Dark MatterFeels like this show is getting better, the cast seem to be growing into their roles so I'm going to keep watching it. They all have a bunch of secrets...for example, waiting for Two to finally rip off the bandaid... ...and expose her magical healing powers. ![]() Re: Dark MatterI really start to like this show. Seems to be solid Sci-Fi. Seems they tried to mix firefly, Alien(s), Startrek and farscape. It takes a couple of eps to get going though. Also nice cliffhanger this week Re: Dark MatterThis show is now at the stage where I would start recommending it to people - cast is really starting to grow into their roles and we're seeing some good interaction with each other. Also looks like we're going to see some good episodes coming up, with the latest revelations. ![]() Re: Dark MatterYeah, this has really surprised me. It gone from "I'll watch it because there isn't much sci-fi to choose from" to actually looking forward to it and enjoying it. Re: Dark MatterYeah and now the android has a cousin to hang with, one that is also an illegal alien (subject to disintegration, not just deportation). Re: Dark Matterdofus wrote:

I'm seeing a positive trend here and I like it! I started watching this series around the time of all the negative ep reviews (late July) and I didn't let it sway me from going in with an open mind. Honestly, I was pretty into it from the start. I dunno but there was something about this show that trickled greatness early on for me. Then again maybe it was just my sci-fi (space opera) thirst that needed some sort of quench ASAP?!? Well one thing's for certain and that's it has definitely been a delight for me so far, and I agree that it keeps getting better with each passing episode. Now all I need to do is keep my fingers crossed that The Expanse will set the bar just a teeny bit higher. poncherello wrote:
Haha... True that, they're all over the place! Re: Dark MatterBeen wondering when - ▼Spoiler -would show up. ![]() Re: Dark MatterAwesome show and awesome ending, really loved the final episode. I really thought it was ▼Spoiler after all. Re: Dark MatterI love this show. It's the right kind of silly. ![]() Re: Dark MatterRarely becomes predictable and is well done.
