Topic: Gotham
Gotham
Everyone knows the name Commissioner Gordon. He is one of the crime world’s greatest foes, a man whose reputation is synonymous with law and order. But what is known of Gordon's story and his rise from rookie detective to Police Commissioner? What did it take to navigate the multiple layers of corruption that secretly ruled Gotham City, the spawning ground of the world's most iconic villains? And what circumstances created them - the larger-than-life personas who would become Gotham's supervillains. Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0d1zpt6k5OI
...where did I put that rat's ass I could give?
Daemons are benevolent or benign nature spirits, beings of the same nature as both mortals and gods, similar to ghosts, chthonic heroes, spirit guides, forces of nature or the gods themselves.

Re: Gotham
I never understood one thing in the comics - how come all the heroes and villains know each other and constantly bump into each other in a city inhabited by millions of people?

Re: Gotham
Hmmm so it looks like it focuses a lot more on Gordon than Wayne....I don't know about this, its a superhero based show with no superhero in it? I know the writers probably don't want us to think about it like that but who else is going to watch it other than Batman fans? I'll give it a shot and hope it surprises me, but I'm not expecting much tbh.

Re: Gotham
I'll give it a go, although not going to raise my expectations too high. Shows like this don't normally live up to the hype I give them

▼Spoiler Mostly 'ok fair enough I can see where you're going with that'. But I thought Cobblepot was always old money, not a self made gangster, wtf.

Re: Gotham
Not a good pilot imo. Too much procedural stuff, too much focus on Batman's future villains and on how they're already involved in the plot (even not directly like future Poison Ivy), relatively slow paced and a lot of bad acting (Catwoman and Bruce are the biggest lols). To be honest of the only fresh thing about this show was a more rude version of Alfred... I already like him. I'll maybe give it a few more eps, but I imagine it won't stay long on my watchlist. PS. Bruno Heller is involved so expect to find out who ordered the hit in about six seasons. ;p

Re: Gotham
I actually really liked it. Yes, it has flaws, sometimes the writing falled down on its ass and made a fart sound, Selina looked too exaggerated, and in 50 minutes we met most of the basic Batman villians. However, the cinematography is great (not the level of Hannibal, but still darn good), Donal Logue and Jada Pinkett-Smith KILLED in the acting department, with the rest of the cast being fairly good (I'm looking forward to seeing more of Nigma and Oswald), and it kept me interested throught that I really would like to see more of it. Overall a solid 7/10. And about the thing with all the villians - it's just a pilot. If they cram everyone into every single episode just to maintain a quota, then we can complain.

I thought it was a good start. Hopefully they can keep it good and interesting.

Re: Gotham
It has potential and it is well acted. I really disliked how they rushed the episode though, I understand they want to pull the audience in, but they could have paced it a lot better - perhaps let you meet one of the villains and catch a glimpse of another. Overall seems to be of good quality though, so I will definitely watch the next episode.

Re: Gotham
I really liked the premiere, but more interested in Fish Mooney, Barbra Gordan and Selina Kyle way more then Jim Gordon though.

Me too, we'll have to see how it pans out - even though we know how it does from the previous films. It didn't make me excited for the next episode, but I'll keep watching.

Re: Gotham
So, guys? I personally liked it more than the second episode, the dialogues were better, it didn't feel as cramped like the pilot, and I even enjoyed Selina Kyle's acting (nothing jawdropping, but nothing horrendous either). They have some real potential here, and we can safely assume that we will see at least 22 episodes, because FOX spent quite a dime on marketing for it.

Don't get me wrong, I love Batman. He is one of my favourite comic characters and while the connection is what drew me to watching this show initially. I have to say however, the young Bruce Wayne scenes are the least interesting thing about this show...

Maybe if the young Bruce Wayne would dress in a Batman Costume, it would be better....just kidding. proteinnerd wrote:Don't get me wrong, I love Batman. Re: Gotham
I always though Montoya was the rookie in adult batman era, so why is she old hat special squad in the kid era? She should be half Gordans age. But I suppose there is only just so much cannon they can make this. I like the polish, verdicts still out on the spit.

Re: Gotham
Second episode actually convinced to drop the show for good. It was even slower than the pilot, too much emo Bruce and Harvey Bullock's character is exaggerated beyond any limits. They should make a spinoff about the Penguin though... I'd watch that.
