The After: New Amazon Series from X-Files Creator
“Eight strangers are thrown together by mysterious forces and must help each other survive in a violent world.”

Except the title, it's actually not bad for an Amazon original series, diden't feel cheap or low budget and was quite entertaining with a WTF ending.

I'm gonna check out more, for now.

Re: The After

Ok pilot. I thought it suffered from a bad script though (like 98% of the other tv shows out there, I guess)

Spoiler

The swimming pool scene was as much wtf as the ending I thought, it seemed so pointless, I laughed out loud at the lecture about the bee..

Re: The After

I'll wait until they announce if it's picked up or not.

Re: The After

I'm quite sure that when ever Chris "The X-Files" Carter is involved, it will be picked up.

It was a decent pilot episode. There were of course few things that left me hoping for a more quality script, but all in all this is easily good enough to have a go for 1. season.
+ Arielle Kebbel's nude swimming scene is good enough reason to watch the pilot! wink Rest of the cast deserves to be noticed as well.

This series is going to be great, perhaps not the next X-Files, but I'm sensing a hint of "Millennium" in it.
Let's see what they can came up with it...

Re: The After

I liked it, good sense of feeling as in the dark as the cast as to what was going on. Hopeful for this one.

Agreed! I loved Millennium, hope this show can be anywhere near as good smile

Is this going ahead, the pilot was months ago?

Apparently so:

2020.  Meh.

Re: The After

It was really great until the silly monster showed up. Monsters are not scifi. Religious stuff is not scifi either for that matter. The show is listed as drama/scifi but it is rather drama/horror. Disappointing because all the rest of it was really exciting and it really felt like you were there.

This... I'll probably not bother.

Myka : You slept with her didn't you ?
Pete : Well... you... you told me to investigate ok ? So... she's unarmed.

Spoiler

I was sooo disappointed, i thought i was watching a very entertaining scifi/post-apocalyptic show. Then that! What the hell. I had no idea the show was about things like that. It could have atleast been an alien! But no, not that either. I will not bother watching either because monsters and religious mysticism (or whatever it will be about) does not really entertain me. Atleast not in this context.

Re: The After

Sorry for bumping the thread, but I watched the pilot in my spare time. I thought it was bad... and not only because of what happened at the end of the episode. The rest also was mostly awful. Poorly written storyline and dialogues (does an f-word has to be in every single sentence?), characters acting dumb (hey! I don't mind that we're escaping from bad guys.. let's get back for my phone!). Plus the whole thing looked really cheap (did they hire the cheapest available extras?)... except maybe for a few short crowd scenes. I'm not going to even bother with the rest of the episodes when they're released by Amazon.

Re: The After

Of course it can be argued about the storyline and acting but i don't remember it looking cheap especially for an Amazon produced series.

Re: The After

Canceled after all (it got picked up some time after Amazon released a pilot).

Re: The After

Well that sucks. I liked the pilot and was interested in seeing where they would go with it. Oh well...

Re: The After

Damn, was probably too expensive for Amazon to produce. sad

Re: The After

From what I read the pilot just wasn't as popular to justify turning it into a proper series. Or maybe they're not thinking long-term like Netflix (they're not afraid to spend a lot of money on new risky projects).
