Topic: Marshall and Lily's apartment

After years of not watching TV, I am getting caught up on lots of programs.  I watched Season 8 of How I Met Your Mother but it was never explained what happened to the apartment that Marshall and Lily had purchased. In Season 8, they are back in the apartment they originally lived in with Ted.  I must have missed Season 7. but at this point don't want to go back. I'm watching the new episodes in Season 9 but the writers I are really drawing out the engagement and wedding of Robin and Barney not to mention the "mother" was revealed at the beginning of Season 9 but then disappeared again.

They sold the house the bought when Lily's grandparent or something like that gave them the house in the suburbs for cheap when they decided to retire. Then Ted having bad memory's of the apartment because of Robin moved out and let Marshal and Lily move back in because they hated not living in the city.

Ted is also moving to Chicago the day after the wedding (or so he has said) and he has the house he bought.

I predict Ted will stay in NY. The house he renovated but told Lily he is selling has a fireplace which looks like the setting of his children on the couch while he tells them the story of "how I met your mother".

I'm sorry I missed Season 7 but it wouldn't be fun to watch after knowing what happened in Season 8.

Yes, that is why I wrote "so he said" because he has already revealed that this is the house the children grow up in. We have also seen a kind of time lapse where he builds the room.

I'm sorry. I agreed with your "so he said".  It is funny, lighthearted show. I enjoyed it but thought it was canceled after Season 6. (I am a new member of next episode.)  I wish I knew it was continued.  Since I missed several seasons and haven't watched for some time, it has been really confusing. I recently viewed the episode when Ted shows Lily the house but had seen the episode of Ted's list of things he wanted to do before leaving NYC so trying figure out the time line is tough. Maybe I need to go back and watch Season 7.  Until I rediscovered the show, I thought the "mother" was Victoria (or think that is her name - the woman who was getting married but left with Ted). Then, I started to watch again and saw the episode  that revealed  the "mother" and it wasn't Victoria so for now I'm just enjoying the humor and trying to get caught up.
