Re: Under the Dome
but my question is, should i read it asap before watching even the promo. because i do like king's story telling, and i like to read books without knowing what the characters look in tv.. Like i did asap reading of ender's game before watching trailer.

Looks nice - saved. I almost never read the book before watching the movie. Otherwise, I don't enjoy it as much with all the changes and missing stuff. (The Firm, Misery, etc.) Reading the book after gives a face to the characters and all. Some like it better the other way around I suppose.

I read the book but can't remember the ending anymore, so this will be nice. The Simpsons version was great though

There is Game of Thrones, but maybe that's an exception of the rule. (although in my opinion TV show is superior, because it's better paced)

Re: Under the Dome
I'm over half way through the book, and whole time i have been thinking that it would make a really good tv show if executed correctly. Even if it's not that good i will be watching the first episode, just to see how will they make the Dome Day aka the day when dome appears. (also i would bet that King got his idea for the book from Simpsons.. and i'm not even mad, it's pretty good book even if i don't agree with Barbi decisions sometimes. Also how conveniently evil people are doing conveniently evil stuff at the conveniently right moment. and good guys do conveniently bad decisions at conveniently wrong moment. But i guess it's just the formula to write thrilling book for people.) edit:

Kings book what ending is as good as the rest of the book, that would be something new (at least general opinion is that King is bad at endings) but i mostly have liked his endings, mostly.

Re: Under the Dome
OK episode... it had some poor acting and the final shot at the dome suggested it was much smaller than it should have been, but overall I liked it.

boring concept. I'll give it a few episodes, though.

Re: Under the Dome
▼Spoiler Not sure killing the best actor of the bunch is a good sign. Not every show can pull a Game of Thrones and make it work. Other than that, sticking to it. Gives a small Jericho feeling and it's been awhile something original enough came up.

Re: Under the Dome
Too all the people saying its boring....just wait till things ramp up, its a great story with a bit of an iffy ending... "wont last", its a single book, probably 10 episodes max, you really think it wont play out a single season of 10 episodes?

Re: Under the Dome
It was well done with a good cast, decent script and the CGI worked for me. It also got good numbers and I expect it will hang on to most of those.

Re: Under the Dome
I'm being over critical of it b/c I get a "Lost" feel and if it does last thru a full season I foresee a stupid ending

Re: Under the Dome
just watched the pilot, it was ok. Hasn't it only got a small season 10/11 eps so expect it to progress more over the next few episodes. Wait and see how it goes

Re: Under the Dome
Hopefully they will focus more on the sci-fi element and not turn out into: "this small town has secrets, let us dwell into all of them and teenage love and drama and shit... there is also an invisible wall which we will completely ignore until the massive cliffhanger of a season finale after which the show gets cancelled because we bored everyone to death"

I take it you haven't read the book then? If they stay true to the book the dome is more just a vehicle to produce the stress level and bring out the good & bad in the inhabitants. Sure it features more in parts but to be honest its more about the town secrets and the crazies... I'm going to be really disappointed if they even need a cliffhanger, they should be able to wrap up the story in 1 solid season.
