Re: Almost Human

I liked it. Sci-fi cop show, probably will be a procedural but a solid one.

Re: Almost Human

So. The visuals are great, well thought-through, nice attention to details. Urban channeled a lot of Dredd here, which of course is not a bad thing. The story didn't feel dumb, not but original at the same time.

Overall it wasn't anything bad, but neither anything that great. So the question is, where do they go from here?

Also

The premiere of Almost Human notched a 3.1 adults 18-49 rating.

Re: Almost Human

I liked it. It's like Alien Nation meets Deus Ex meets Dredd. It's not perfect (some of the side characters are pretty bland but it's only the beginning), but I enjoyed it more than all other sci-fi shows that have premiered recently.

Re: Almost Human

Re: Almost Human

I like how the second episode started. big_smile

And the rest wasn't bad either, but judging by the huge ratings drop it'll probably have only one season.

Re: Almost Human

It's nothing original, but it's not bad. It just hasn't convinced me to stay. But I'll wait, just for Karl Urban.

Re: Almost Human

I liked it. Its not too bad so far. Will be interesting to see where they take it.

Re: Almost Human

I was impressed by the 1st two episodes....it has promise!
Hopefully the Writers maintain the story-line, action and character interaction.

Re: Almost Human

Reminds me of Continuum, where the future is 2077. That was 65 years into the future (the show first aired in 2012) while Almost Human is 35 years in the future. Was there that much new stuff between 1988 and 2013, or 1953 and 1988? Even 65 years has not seen really radical changes, as in between 2013 and 1947. The big changes are cell phones and the internet. I know because I was around on all these dates. For younger folks there are movies. Then again, without amping up the situations, you don't have an entertaining show.

Re: Almost Human

Heh agreed, they never seem to get the time difference believeable... as a writer, I'd give myself at LEAST a hundred years, prefereably more, for any sci-fi just to be on the safe side.

Ironically, Star Trek was one of the few that gave itself enough wiggle room, set a couple hundred years in the future, and we achieved some of their tech in like 30 years O.o. (wireless personal communicators, tablet computers, motion sensitive doors, medical scanning equipment etc)

Well technology have moved forward alot in just the last 5-10 years, so I dont think its THAT far fetched. We already have robots and we have dolls of wax and so on that look just like people, so a lot could happen in 35 years. And btw 1988 - 2013 is only 25 years, I'd say quite a lot have happened since 1978 with technology.

Anyway, i really enjoyed the first two episodes, sci-fi isnt usually my thing but this show is promising.

Re: Almost Human

Agreed, its fascinating. Music score is - thank god - a bit more modern than the usual classical fare too.

But I would not say Robocop/Dredd really, while its similar of course, it reminds me more of Blade Runner..or Philip K. Dick's "Do androids dream of sheep". Less about bionic bodies/tech/one-man-jury, more about if robots can feel or not. Love the humour too, more present in ep.2.

Def. on my watchlist.

Re: Almost Human

I wonder if they are using the same team as with Fringe (since the guys behind are from Fringe).
