Topic: 7x13 - The Name of The Doctor

Well do to a screw up here in America, people were sent the Season 7b blue-ray's a few days ago. Meaning people were able to see the last two episodes of the season before it even aired. So avoid all things Doctor Who related until Saturday or when the episode leaks online.

So I have to put myself at Defcon 1, emergency spoiler avoidance mode activated. Thanks for the heads up.

Re: 7x13 - The Name of The Doctor

The Doctor Who facebook page are asking for it to not be leaked or spoiled.  They have said:

"We understand that a small number of US fans have received in error their DVD edition of Series 7 Part 2 early. We respectfully ask those fans not to divulge information or post content publicly so that fellow fans who have yet to see the episodes do not have their viewing pleasure ruined.

If everyone keeps the secrets safe until next Saturday we will release a special new clip featuring material of the Tenth AND Eleventh Doctor!"

I'm still hoping for it to be leaked. smile

Re: 7x13 - The Name of The Doctor

Well based on the fact I read the entire breakdown of the season finale four weeks ago, I would say it's just a tad to late for it being spoiled. Granted when I read it a the time I was skeptical, but it turns out that was what happens (Haven't seen the episode, but have seen 3 key spoilers from people who have that confirm what I read.)

It being leaked is really going to depend on if someone who got an early copy knows how to upload to a torrent site or not. The clip of the two Doctors isn't going to be a factor.

Re: 7x13 - The Name of The Doctor

Still no leak (that I can find). I'm calling bs. Total publicity stunt.

Re: 7x13 - The Name of The Doctor

Seems like it except the complete breakdown of the episode is out. It's possible those who got it have no clue how to upload it, bugs me that most of the episode has been ruined when I wasn't even trying to read spoilers

Re: 7x13 - The Name of The Doctor

I find it more likely that those who got it have no intention of uploading it. I know I wouldnt.

Re: 7x13 - The Name of The Doctor

So 9 is 10, 10 is 11, and 11 is 12 and now we know which Doctor is responsible for ending the Time War. Unless someones got a better theory to the reveal of Twelve Doctors.

Re: 7x13 - The Name of The Doctor

The 11th Doctor (Matt Smith) is still the 11th Doctor, you heard The Doctor say, Hurt doesn't carry the name of The Doctor as he broke the promise so the numbering is not effected... He could be The Valeyard that the Great Intelligence mentioned earlier in the episode, or he could be the Time War Doctor, who did something un-Doctor-ish to not be called The Doctor by any of his other incarnations. I guess we'll find out in 6 months time for the 50th episode.

EDIT: I like the sneaky clear up of the "Fall of the Eleventh" though big_smile

Because Hurt is still The Doctor, as a person, a legitimate regeneration, only he's "exiled", because he clearly ended the Time War and killed all the Time Lords and the Daleks.  That's why The Doctor himself considered Eccleston's regen to be the 9th, Hurt's Doctor wasn't truly The Doctor in his own eyes. And Hurt's regen didn't use the name The Doctor, but his real one. (It might sound like babble, it's early in the morning).

Re: 7x13 - The Name of The Doctor

The 11th v 12th Doctor "title/name" for Matt Smith becomes a matter of semantics.

What I see as clear though, is that Matt Smith is the 12th incarnation (not 11th) who has regenerated 11 times...

Also, this Matt Smith's incarnation the second to last incarnation, according to normal canon..Although, the 12 regeneration limit canon, can be possibly disputed/circumvented at least in 3 ways:
a) The Master exceeded 12 regenerations.
b) The 12 regeneration limit may be moot as the High Council of Gallifrey no longer exists.
c) Other alien technology/process from earlier episodes in the series (pre-2005).

Side Note: It would be interesting to see a movie made (controlled by BBC) of the Time War with John
Hurt smile

Re: 7x13 - The Name of The Doctor

1. Matt Smith is the 12th incarnation, but the 11th Doctor.
2. River gave him all of her regenerations, that's why she dies in the library.

Re: 7x13 - The Name of The Doctor

They could also just say cause there are no more Time Lords apart from the Doctor, his regenerations are unlimited......no other Time Lords to use up the universes regeneration resources...or something like that, or maybe when he killed them, he absorbed all of the regeneration energy from them...
