Re: Vikings
Hmm heard a bit of Finnish in the background in this episode (34:20-ish in E07). That is a bit odd. Were the Finns Vikings? Viking-ish, why not, but allied with Scandinavian Vikings proper? I seriously doubt they made raids to England. Or am I wrong?

Yeah, someone said "Nyt ne tulee, nyt ne tulee" and it translates as "Now they are coming, now they are coming"

Daemons are benevolent or benign nature spirits, beings of the same nature as both mortals and gods, similar to ghosts, chthonic heroes, spirit guides, forces of nature or the gods themselves.

What bedroom thing?

Re: Vikings
So I convinced myself to watch it. Wasn't sure at first, but then I saw that it's a Take 5 & Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer production, so okay, that's a start. Overall it's fine. It doesn't shout BAAAD like Camelot and wasn't really bored by it. Might try more.

Re: Vikings
Episode 7 was very good... Floki is by far my favorite character in the series. I'd only get rid of the pregnancy storyline - it felt like a filler.

Re: Vikings
A show about Vikings? Starring Gustaf Skarsgård? Using a Fever Ray song in the intro? With episodes directed by Johan Renck (Stakka Bo)? And with characters going to Uppsala? The patriot in me tells me I HAVE to watch this! I watched the first episode and I enjoyed it. Definitely a keeper.

I still haven't seen the episodes yet. I have a hang up on Might and Magic 6.. But I have seen loads of articles about this episode. And having a stave church in Uppsala is just wrong. They weren't christians yet, nor did the church type exist in the viking age.. The time aspect is also wrong, if I'm thinking of the right Æthelstan. In the series, he is supposed to be the "first king", or something? If so, the timeline is "wrong". According to the sagas Ragnar lived and raged in the 9th century, wereas Æthelstan ruled in the 10th century. And the sacrificing? Sure, there might have been human sacrifices at Uppsala in the viking age, but not at the scale I have given the impression they did on the show. And no, there were no priests in the norse "religion". The chieftain was, amongst many other aspects, the religious leader.

Re: Vikings
That being said, I would've loved it if Ohthere (Ottar) of Hålogaland was put in the show. His appearance at the court of Alfred the Great, lead to the first description of the norwegian (both natural and political) landscape and economy. And when I say first description, I mean in a real historical source - not sagas. They were written down hundreds of years after the supposed events and characters.

You should watch it, it's a good show. The inaccuracies aren't a big bother, that place in last episode meant to be Uppsala was hilarious, but other than a laugh I can easily overlook it.

who is ridiculing this? i was marely asking questions about the accuracy in history from Vana. She mentioned in one of the first posts, that this show is mainly made out of legends. I personally think this is an awesome show. With very little, they make an immensly huge show. they do not have stars starring there. all the actors play their roles very well. story is decent, scenery is super awesome and if there is at least some historical truth, then this rocks extra!!!

Re: Vikings
Well, the episodes aren't as tied together as you might think. One of them might be about invading foreign lands and another one about seeking spiritual guidance.
