Daemons are benevolent or benign nature spirits, beings of the same nature as both mortals and gods, similar to ghosts, chthonic heroes, spirit guides, forces of nature or the gods themselves.

The second episode was also just ok, I'll keep it so far, but I'm not really impressed with the action.

I have no problem with adults choosing to life their lives however they want, but the Amish life style and tradition makes anyone wanting to leave the society near impossible.
"We are all creatures of habit and if you make good habits, good habits will make you." Aristotle If you think your life is any freer from indoctrination, you're delusional. Aristotle once said that “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.” We seem to think that the Amish are deprived somehow for a lack of exposure to things that could change the way they do things...but we consistently overlook the fact that the simplicity of their lifestyle is conducive to a high degree of excellence. ...for us, with all of our options and choices...we actually experience lives that are more rife with mediocrity. Also, as far as I know, the Amish are not gated...folks are free to leave...they're just discouraged from doing so. They have a standard of excellence which is well known for its take on forgiveness too. -Rob
Yes we live in a society that grooms people to live and believe certain things. That however is were the comparisons begin and end when it comes to this issue. The Amish lifestyle is an outdated practice that people who don't know better or are to stubborn to change chose to live. Maybe my views are blinded by dealing with them when I was younger since my Grandmother use to live next to one of the bigger Amish towns in the country. However I still hold the believe that everyone should have access to all information if they so seek it. Orlando wrote:
You are free to chose to live a life that society deems accessible or to make your own path and to live a life that does none of those things. Because 98% of society chooses to act like sheep and follow the herd doesn't mean it's wrong or it isn't free will. I have no problems with people making an educated choice or to chose to ignore that option. However to live in a society that actively discourages people choosing anything that's not the norm is wrong. This is a deeply complex problem that address's many of the core things addressing today world. Oddly of which that have nothing to do with this tv show...at least I don't think so having never seen it nor do I plan to ever watch it.

Pilot was a bit slow, second episode was better. It stays on the watch list for now.

Great. Unfortunately, unconditional access to information includes unconditional access to misinformation. The idea that one lifestyle is better than the other has everything to do with context. Spiritually speaking, there are benefits to living a simple life, and there are benefits to living a life 'in the world'. In one case, life isn't given the opportunity to overwhelm your senses so that you may remain fixed, calm, and balanced...In the other case, it's basically a trial by fire...your spirit is tested by many of the available distractions, lies, addictions, etc. that are available in every direction that you look. As I understand it, the Amish are free to go check out the world at some point...presumably once they are mature enough to make conscious decisions about it. -Rob

Re: Banshee
Besides, an old farmer who fed his hometown all his life and who has no clue what the iPhone is or where to put the Togo on the map and still managed to be beyond happy and satisfied... He's a frikking hero to my eyes. Hi Grandpa! The show is ok... clichés over clichés but... well. Seen worse.

Re: Banshee
Someone who is poor and doesn't know that he is poor, then everything is fine and he is happy. But if Someone who is poor gets to know the life of being rich and goes back to being poor, then the shitstorm starts. This will most likely not apply to the Amish but many other people tho.

Despite allowing their kids to go away and try the non-Amish life after high school, about 80 percent return and join for life (and most stay after that.)

I prolonged the third episode, until I realized I don't really care about this. It's True Blood without the supernatural.

Re: Banshee
So far, I always though the girl was mostly there to get naked (wich she does most of the episodes) even though the actress was doing a good job out of hump scenes. But they finally made her show how badass she was.

Re: Banshee
I'm of two minds about this show. While it's nice to see kickass action, it's getting a bit much sometimes. The dialogue is a bit cliché at times as well.. Still, it'll be interesting to see what happens next.

Banshee is one of several shows (like Nikita) filling the void left by the end of 24.
