Banshee is an American drama television series created by Jonathan Tropper and David Schickler, who serve as executive producers along with Alan Ball, Greg Yaitanes and Peter Macdissi. The series is set in a small town in Pennsylvania Amish country and features an enigmatic ex-con posing as a murdered sheriff who imposes his own brand of justice while also cooking up plans that serve his own interests. It airs on HBO-owned Cinemax and is produced by Your Face Goes Here Entertainment.

Anyone see the first episode? I thought it looked promising!

"Is this about my Myspace page..? Because I can take that down."

Re: Banshee

Thought it was going to be a comic book show based on the name. Watched the trailer saw it wasn't (obviously) and that disappointment is were I left the show at. I also hate small town USA so theirs that to.

3

Re: Banshee

It was OK, a bit predictable, worth another couple of episodes before I decide.

4

Re: Banshee

Well done and has potential. It's got a "True Blood" vibe but without the supernatural stuff. They use Amish and Ukrainians instead.

As much as I don't care about the Amish, one could argue that what you call "get with the times" is a complete waste since they can live happily (sort of I guess) but more importantly peacefully without most of the crap we think is a good way of living.

Will check first ep...

Myka : You slept with her didn't you ?
Pete : Well... you... you told me to investigate ok ? So... she's unarmed.

Re: Banshee

Not bad for a first ep. Some pewpew, some licking, etc. It's been awhile I saw so much clichés in a single episode up to russian playing chess or the bad guy having family on the good guys side but it was still entertaining.

Will keep an eye on it.

Myka : You slept with her didn't you ?
Pete : Well... you... you told me to investigate ok ? So... she's unarmed.

Being stuck behind a horse and buggy for long periods of time that you can't pass several times and you will think it to.

Re: Banshee

Sigh I feel like I have to actually defend my statement even though at the time most of it was a joke. My problem with the Amish is the active ignorance of knowledge. Most of the people who live in an Amish life style grew up learning nothing but basic information needed to life only a Amish life.

Restricting access to modern technology is fine if the decision is made from a standpoint were all the facts are laid out. The entire Amish life style to me feels like an indoctrination. I have no problem with adults choosing to life their lives however they want, but the Amish life style and tradition makes anyone wanting to leave the society near impossible.

Yes I also of superficial problem with them. Being stuck on a dirt road unable to get around them for long periods of times, and my own problems with organize religion which is why I crack jokes. My point however still stands as to them needing to get with the times and embrace knowledge for their children so when they are adults they can make an inform choice as to the life style they want to live.

Re: Banshee

It's a nice show. Needs more interesting characters to hold in a longer run, and he needs to up his sheriffskills to have more credibilty. I'm keeping it for a few more episodes at least.

"We are all creatures of habit and if you make good habits, good habits will make you." Aristotle

If you think your life is any freer from indoctrination, you're delusional. Aristotle once said that “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.”

We seem to think that the Amish are deprived somehow for a lack of exposure to things that could change the way they do things...but we consistently overlook the fact that the simplicity of their lifestyle is conducive to a high degree of excellence.
...for us, with all of our options and choices...we actually experience lives that are more rife with mediocrity.

Also, as far as I know, the Amish are not gated...folks are free to leave...they're just discouraged from doing so. They have a standard of excellence which is well known for its take on forgiveness too.

...where did I put that rat's ass I could give?

Daemons are benevolent or benign nature spirits, beings of the same nature as both mortals and gods, similar to ghosts, chthonic heroes, spirit guides, forces of nature or the gods themselves.
