Re: Fear and Loathing on Battlestar Galactica
Hold on, the fleet has to waste 20 minutes to spin up the FTLs, a hand full of vipers and faces what 3 ? 4 ? basestars (with a full compliment of fighters) ? I'd say that they are enough trapped already... IMO there really is a Ship of Lights, it really IS visible in the nebula and starbuck came with them. Re: Fear and Loathing on Battlestar GalacticaThe biggest hint to what is really going on can be found in the original BSG series from 1979. Even though there are a lot of differences between that show and the current series, the original BSG still serves as the skeletal structure for the new series. When you understand everyone's roll from the original, and begin to make certain extrapolations to the new series . . . Anyway. You can bet your bottom dollar that Starbuck is indeed a Cylon. But the question you should be asking is not if Starbuck is a cylon, but is exactly who/what are the Cylons? And why aren't there 13 Cylon models? One other thing about Kara, she is also most likely the person spoken of prophecies contained in the ancient scriptures of Kobol (season two); not President Roslin. This is going to put an interesting kink into things, I am sure. Re: Fear and Loathing on Battlestar Galacticaunfettered one wrote:
If you are talking about the prohecies in the scriptures of the dying leader who leads the people to earth, then.... That must mean Kara is dying. If Kara is dying, then she can't be a cylon as cylons can't die, they just resurrect. Plus Kara is no leader. Therefore, president Roslin still looks to be the one that is mentioned in the scriptures. I have a feeling that Kara is Pythia. Pythia apparently chronicled the 13ths tribe journey to earth. Therefore, she would know where earth is. So.. I reckon that Kara is pythia who is also a cylon and is one of the final five as she came back at the same time we found out who four of the remaining five cylons are. I think the final fives job are to somehow stop the other cylons from reaching earth. Re: Fear and Loathing on Battlestar GalacticaThe Cylons are obviously mormons. No but seriously... do people have a good grasp on how much of the BSG mythos has strong parallels to stuff from the Book of Mormon, etc... also the creator of the original show, and creative consultant on this one, Glen A. Larson is a mormon, and is professed (or so i've heard it) to have based a lot of the mythology on Mormon myth. Things like the supposed thirteenth tribe if Israel that supposedly colonized America, etc... etc... That and greek mythology, of course. No bias, from my side... it's just an interesting factoid. Regarding religious references, I found this on Wikipedia: * The twelve colonies are named after the astrological signs of the Greek zodiac; for example, Scorpia (Scorpio), Caprica (Capricorn), and Aquaria (Aquarius). *Several of the characters in the series have names or call signs corresponding to significant characters in Greek mythology, including Apollo, Athena, and Cassiopeia. *The name of the battlestar Commander, Adama means earth (or ground) in Hebrew. *Much of the original mythological template is drawn from series creator Glen Larson's Mormon theology. The planet Kobol is an anagram of Kolob, which, according to the Mormon Book of Abraham, is the star nearest to where God dwells. The Mormon marriage ceremony, where couples are "sealed" for "time and all eternity" is approximated in the original Galactica episode "Lost Planet of the Gods." Aaaaanyway.... chew on that Re: Fear and Loathing on Battlestar GalacticaGuys! Cylons, running under windows, used a sploit that Baltar provided (in hindu mythology Baltar is an spoonerism of Gates in hebrew translated from german and then into japanese and then english) that's why the colonial vipers' OSs crashed. Noone knew of the identity of the final five because they run on a beta version of Vista (which is as good as its voice recognition module) which, in turn, has a trigger built in to activate a given copy when you hear crappy music comming from the walls. Galactica wasn't affected because DD is black (because black people always complain that they are killed first in movies etc) and they run on macOS X, which has a better built in firewall or something... Shit.. it was in front of me from the beggining and I was soooo stupid not to see the obvious Re: Fear and Loathing on Battlestar Galacticamlin wrote:
Mlin, I saw the ep two times but could not really make out a ship of light in the nebula. Can you maybe give a pointer? Screen capture would be nice... I do agree that the ship of light did not make its appearance in the new series and if they do follow the old one it should at one point. And it could explain why the Cylons did not take advantage of the power loss by the fleet, maybe they experience it too? Also why did the 4 came and meet in that airlock? What was the purpose of it? 34 2007-04-01 21:57:24 (edited by mlin 2007-04-01 22:00:43)Re: Fear and Loathing on Battlestar GalacticaThe case with the ship in the nebula is something near believing in God. There are people who are certain that they see it and there are people who claim that there's nothing there. source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4T1lrgtx2Y Go to 2:13 of the youtube movie and pause in the moment when the viper is on the left side. Right above the viper's (i don't know the word) "Steering wing" (the veritical one in the back) you can see a strip of brown-ish matter. If you follow it down (and up) you see it forms the left side of a cocoon shaped siluethe of a really BIG ship. Now look on the right side. There is the same shape, covered partialy by a cloud (mind that the clouds are gray-ish, not brown). See ? Now look on the other picture Here, you can see roughly the same shape (but turned a few degrees). Noone sees the ship because everyone thinks that those brown stripes are a mixture of space (brown) and clouds (gray). I think they are not. Also.. I would not expect less from the creators of BSG... To put something that big in front of eyes of millions of people and make it practically invisible ? Plus, the power outage ? It's NOT a coincidence. And BTW there was a really big thread on this on the scfi forums (i just cant find the link). Just use your google magic What do you guys think ? =-=-=-=edit
First of all what triggered the music ? 35 2007-04-01 23:48:53 (edited by aydin1954 2007-04-01 23:50:14)Re: Fear and Loathing on Battlestar GalacticaI agree that it requires a leap of faith.... maybe when it will be out of DVD or the UK higher resolution version will be available it could be investigated better. OK the word is vertical rudder. Same as in a plane. and let see.... check my takes: I suppose that is what you mean. found the thread too I think... http://www.trekbbs.com/threads/showflat … er=7465462 but there is something else ... just above the SciFi logo and all over around... I think you are on the wrong track for the right thing.... check then: compare to the ship of light from the original serie: what do you think? 36 2007-04-02 07:04:55 (edited by eathemeek 2007-04-02 07:05:53)Re: Fear and Loathing on Battlestar GalacticaI think your both high Just putting it out there because it was said in oprevious episdoes.. BTW.. was crossroads #2 the last episode of season 3? If so does anyone know when season four starts... im having withdrawls (oh lord what will i total gym too! *sob*) Re: Fear and Loathing on Battlestar Galacticayes crossroad two was season final, there will be a 2 hour special in fall direct on DVD that could not have a direct linking to what happened in S3 and S4 will start Jan 08 38 2007-04-03 12:47:13 (edited by mlin 2007-04-03 12:54:42)Re: Fear and Loathing on Battlestar Galactica
Thanks as far as the ship of lights: I thought that these things might be some sort of pylons or vertical beams (going upwards) and forming outer rims of a ship that seems to EMERGE from the clouds in the nebula here: Mind that on the second picture the angle is shifted and you should look at the "ship" as if it is emerging in an isometric perspective towards the viewer. As for the ship's shape... hell knows what the creators did to its shape. It also might as well be dark and gloomy (in opposition to the "bright" ship in TOS). BUT when you pointed me to the entity above the scfi logo i started to wonder and now I am closer to your option and more in favor of disregarding mine. Nevertheless I'm almost certain that there has to be something in the nebula. The power outage in the whole fleet is too weird an event to be a mere glitch in the ships' power management systems. btw the creators of the show are monsters how can you mess with peoples' minds like that =-=-=edit
Who said that we weren't ?
IMO that were just cylon mind games. And beside that, too many people on the bridge and, in general, on command posts are cylons. Adama would be just "not right". But that's only my opinion. Re: Fear and Loathing on Battlestar Galacticaheh at this point we cannot do anything but wait.... and see what (and I am also sure something, Kara did not get there in a Viper for sure... and what a great twist would be if her destiny has not to do with the Cylons but with the third race) is in the nebula. As they followed the TOS in a way then it should be more than right they introduce a third race. Also by the way the concept of a human looking cylon was introduced in Galactica 80 (I am re-watching it). One wonders if they will introduce their version of Dr. Zee....
