Re: Defiance
Terra Nova I haven't seen - but it reminded me a bit of Firefly. Just a tad though.
Gonna keep watching but I do hope there's more action in it, than the "game of thrones - lets marry our children and kill the parents" stuff.

(Hoping it doesn't turn into Terra Nova) Some of the CGI did make me laugh though, ▼Spoiler
Re: DefianceSupprised by the high enjoyment factor on this show, loved the "aliens" reminded me a bit of farscape. The Dad and Daughter combo seems pretty thight, and those grey skinned/haired aliens was kinda cool. Looking forward for the next episodes:D Re: DefianceToo cliche for me, but to each his own. It was well done (especially for SyFy, which has a talent for trashing good concepts), but because of the reliance on so many old tropes I find it too easy to see where this is going. Re: DefianceSuasor: keep in mind that this will co-relate with the game aswell where someones characters from the game also will appear in the series - and to make a series like this cliches are unavoidable, it all comes down to execution. Open your mind and your ass will follow They Call Me The "Jax Lovah!" Machine!
Re: Defiance15 minutes aaaaaaand it's gone... not for me. ...where did I put that rat's ass I could give?
Daemons are benevolent or benign nature spirits, beings of the same nature as both mortals and gods, similar to ghosts, chthonic heroes, spirit guides, forces of nature or the gods themselves. Re: DefianceDaemonius wrote:
Ragequit, lol! It's a keeper for me, still curious to see how it will develop They Call Me The "Jax Lovah!" Machine!
Re: Defiancewell second episode reminded me too much of BSG. the music and how the story suddenly went from high action to "everyday life". 37 2013-05-04 16:24:03 (edited by fathead2k 2013-05-04 16:24:37)Re: DefianceI really want to like this show but it's such a bore. I was hoping for more alien stories but they even managed to bore me to sleep with that. it just moved to my "if nothing else is on" list. Shame, it had such potential. Re: Defiancethe music still "annoys" me, but the beginning of episode 3 was simply droolworthy. Re: DefianceWatched 1x02-4 and I still immensely enjoy it. I like the way the portray the different races nad the new world, as well as the dynamic of the father/daughter duo. Although the show does have some flaws, like the somewhat Romeo & Juliet storyline and the constant out of place music in the end of each ep. And anyone else thinks that McCreary is still to much into BSG in his music here? The intro is like from a Battlestar episode 1:1. Re: DefianceOrlando wrote:
Yes. I didn't know it was McCreary but I thought it was too similar to BSG. Now I know why. The show itself is good (acting and effects are satisfactory) but it kinda disappoints me. I am not hooked. I watch because there aren't that many good shows to watch, especially sci-fi. Re: DefianceMy guess since Network are usually at fault that the reason the episodes come off at times as out of place is their given a check list of things they have to have, yet no understanding of why the things are their to begin with. Let me explain since that might sound confusing. It seems they were told each episode has to end with some kind of music overlay. Almost all shows at one time or another will have it, sci-fi drama's tend to go to that well more often than not. The only problem is it works when the show is trying to contrive a deeper meaning to what's happening on screen. On this show it's just there because. The right music played at the right time can amplify a scene, but much like all CW pilots and this show when it's done without purpose it harms the show. Based on how the Romeo and Juliet storyline is shoehorned into episode I really don't think it's what the writers wanted, but all shows must have a love angst because everyone else does it. The show does have promise which is why I keep watching it, with the hope that this dead weight will be dropped soon. Re: DefianceJust watched the pilot aaand i loved it. My only complaint is about some cgi scenes but besides that nothing felt cheap. A mixture of farscape, stargate and firefly in which they put alot of effort and money, so if they dont have the ratings if will be canceled in a heartbeat. Goes straight to my watchlist for now. i have mentioned it at least twice now. Re: DefianceSyfy has renewed its groundbreaking series Defiance, giving a 13-episode second season order. Re: Defiancexrnzaaas wrote:

Can't say the pick-up is a surprise, between the video game and the budget they threw into the sets the ratings would have to be non existent for it not to get picked up. Re: DefianceWhy no forum for this show yet? They Call Me The "Jax Lovah!" Machine!
