Re: Black Mirror
Well wasn't that multilayered and every way coherent with current events. Brilliant! Eps 2 and 3 tomorrow. First I thought it was gonna be one of those "would you kill someone if that would save the lives of 2 people" simple dilemmas, but they really managed to portray the event at every angle possible. And somehow you can relate every angle to some current events and the way they were handled. Kinda like a nightmareish version of Newsroom but with more points of view. The actual act wasn't as shocking, mainly because I remember my co-worker mentioning this show and the said act when this was originally aired. He said that this was basically a weird comedy he didn't understand and didn't recommend to watch it.

Heh, reactions to this show are kind of a Rorschach Test. Reveals much about the viewers sensibilities and taste for the odd.

Re: Black Mirror
. Are the real airdates known? Cause epguides.com doesn't have a date filled in. Only that it's gonna air in 2013.

Re: Black Mirror
As much as i love 'Black mirror' I still love his one on one's with a camera blabbing about whatever as in Newswipe or Gameswipe. Tomorrow night he starts a new series of 'wipes' ------- ENTERTAINMENT: Charlie Brooker's Weekly Wipe On: BBC 2 North West (102) Date: Thursday 31st January 2013 (starting tomorrow evening) Time: 22:00 to 22:30 (30 minutes long) The programme that wrings a little laughter from a hilariously troubled world. Charlie Brooker and guests cast their collective eyes over all that the telly, cinema, news and computer games have to offer and squeeze half an hour of fun out for this topical weekly show. It's good, so you really should watch it.

I watched it today and I must say it was brilliant. I liked it waaay better than episode 1. As for episode 3, I liked the premise very much and the story was more than ok, maybe except for the final (bathroom) scene. The episode IMO would've been even better without it.

2x01 is how 1x03 should've been.

Re: Black Mirror
Yeah... the whole thing kinda ruined the episode for me, because it wasn't taking place like 50+ years in the future. Would've been better if they stayed with the phone conversations (or some kind of video chats) idea.

Re: Black Mirror
I thought it was pretty obvious that it's the future. Georgian rebels using computer viruses, syntetic muscles, phones like paper, thumbprints as a signature, ultrasound with a hand (?), kinectic use of a laptop, all is there. This is the 20th century flaw, 30-40 years in the future and we have flying cars and shit, well helloooo Back To The Future. This was actually a very plausibly realistic view, technology change, but we stll drive cars, not fly them. As of the episode, I thought it was mesmerising. While 1x01 and 1x02 kicked you in the head, (I try to forget about 1x03), took a slower tempo and made you anwsering questions long after the viewing. It talks about the hole after losing a loved one AND how technology can't possibly make that whole, as it only copies, never creates. Hayley Atwell outdid herself with her performance here, which was easy AND hard with the material provided. As of now, my list of episodes is: 1x02, 2x01, 1x01, 1x03. And btw, Iron Man Jr. bought the rights for 1x03 and Hollywood will probably produce a dumbed down version of it, or maybe they'll use the concept and create something new based on that.

Re: Black Mirror
I considered 1x02 as a overblown distopia which was created to fulfill a message on the current state of the world. As of the 'no change', with every decade we see less change. Yes, there was a 90's style, that still qualifies, but was there a 2000-2010 style (besides hipsters and other such garbage)? Not really, we are aiming in design to be as cold, colorless and unimaginative as it can be. If you put two people beside each other, one from let's say 2001 and from 2013 now, you couldn't probably see a difference. As of the cars, I don't really care about them, but even now they all look the same to me, so in the future it will be probably even worse, if it's possible.

Re: Black Mirror
Hmmm... I wasn't that impressed with 2x01. I left every episode of series 1 thinking, "Hmmm... That was interesting" but 2x01 didn't. I hope it improves. Come on Charlie - must try harder!
2020. Meh.

Re: Black Mirror
2x01 - The last five minutes kind of fell apart. It was interesting up to that point, but it just seem the writers either ran out of time or had no idea how to get to the ending better. 2x02 - It was an interesting idea, but the chick was so damn annoying that it ruined the episode for me. I don't like characters who are whiny and that's all she was.

Re: Black Mirror
Not a fan of this season... episode 2x01 was only decent (see my earlier complaints ) and I didn't like episodes 2x02 and 2x03 at all.
