I think the writers don't know themselves who the mother is, probably still debating if it should be a new character or one of the former girls, by trying a twist ending or something.

But to be honest, it's about the journey and not about the destination. If people have to high expectations, they will get disappointed like with the lost ending.

I don't think that people had too high expectations for the ending of lost. It is totally reasonable to expect that the writers who are going to base a whole series around a mystery would have a satisfying solution to that from the very beginning.

But I agree with you on himym being about the journey and not the destination. I'll probably be happy with the ending as long as there is one. Too many series have been left without any kind of conclusion due to cancellations lately.

Besides, she wore high heels in the closing scene so I probably won't like her tongue

Jason Segel (Marshall)  said he was gonna drop out for this season. They then told him about the plans on who the mother would be and how the series would wrap up and he decided to continue working on the show. Before that he didnt think they had any real plans on how to end it but since they managed to convince him that they do then i guess they might have some.
I would guess that doesnt only conclude who the mother is but also what happens to the other characters.

Weird I thought this episode sucked. I've gotten to the point were I don't think I'm even going to bother with season nine.
