Re: 5x01 Live Free or Die

What's with the opening scene where he is buying (in the future?) what appears to be a medium (7.62mm) machinegun.

Re: 5x01 Live Free or Die

I thought it was a shotgun...but then, all I know about guns is from Call of Duty.

I can't say I was very impressed with the episode...but it set the stage for the season well enough.

I kinda felt like Jesse was just a prop in the episode, too...which sucks. He's a good character, and I'm disappointed that it's going to come to light at some point that Walt poisoned the kid...I mean, that it's so obvious that it will come to light, and that the issue is really being forced by the writers...I'd rather have been caught by surprise with that info...it was so great how sneaky it was shown to us that he did it, and there's nothing eloquent about how they're dealing with it in this episode with the vial at the lawyer's office, and Walt putting the plant in the trunk...and Sal actually spelling it out in the office...

Glad it's back...

Re: 5x01 Live Free or Die

The problem with the poisoning was that at least most of my friends didn't believe Walt really poisoned the kid. It was a very dark thing to do, much darker than just not helping Jesse's girlfriend when she choked on her own vomit, and a big line for the character to cross. If it has to come back to him (I think we all agree it does) and the show is trying to show us how much off the rails he's gotten (both "I'm the one who knocks" last season and "Because I said so" and "I forgive you" in this episode are strong-enough indicators), these things need to spelled out quite clearly.

"We're on the side of the demons, Chief. We're evil men in the gardens of paradise, sent by the forces of death to spread devastation and destruction wherever we go."

Correct. An M60. They are a TON of fun to shoot. Him mentioning that it won't even leave the state is interesting. I wonder if it still has anything to do with Gus or if he's going to make more enemies.

I liked it. Didn't expect too much, it being a season opener and all. I think that this will be a great season if not the best. I'm sure the writers will want a fitting end for their show as much as us fans do.

10 Years and counting

Re: 5x01 Live Free or Die

Thought it looked familiar. I also fired (and lugged one, from time to time) way back in the 60s. That was in Korea, where climbing those hills with a 60 in the summer heat was, damn, I forgot how miserable that was. Mr While can do a lot of damage with a 60, but only for a few minutes, as I did not see any replacement barrels.
