Topic: Skyrim
..soo, anyone here had a go with skyrim? I'm 17 levels in, and haven't noticed any other glitches than slowdown (luckily). Hopefully I will also be buying a 50" TV very soon, so I'll get to enjoy the graphics properly! Not done with the main quest yet, but I like to take me time. There's so much more to explore and other quests to do.

Re: Skyrim
Almost everyone on my steam friends list plays Skyrim, while I installed Oblivion GotY for the first time. Gonna get Fallout 3 GotY for Christmas. Also. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzoLjjAQMS0

Re: Skyrim
I have been playing it slowly, noticed a couple of light problems and other small graphical glitches but game play is good. Couple of annoying things: the menus, they are awful and just don't work properly with a mouse. Also my ai friends keep getting in the way, its like they do it on purpose, very annoying.

Unfortunatly, Fallout 3 is pretty much unplayable on anything above XP, I've tried for years to get it to work on Vista & Win 7, it just crashes randomly or will refuse to load at all. As for Skyrim, haven't played in a few days since I got trapped somewhere off the map, not sure how I got there, and can't get back... So far, not even using the console... I'll try again when I get more time for a few hours, but I really don't want to throw away 20+ hours of play, no matter how awesome its been up till now.

Re: Skyrim
I've only had Lydia by my side, and she was annoying! They're always in the way, suddenly popping out in front of my sword as I am power slashing someone. I miss quicksave and hotkeys for spells/potions/weapons, it takes to much time switching between them even with a "favourite" button (I played Morrowind on PC, and Skyrim now on PS3). I am also a bit overwhelmed by all the possibilities in the new skills tree. There's so much (good) stuff to choose, but so few perk points! Arrgh.

Ah, I would've loved the opportunity to "like" a post, without replying to it with +1 and making the thread unnecessarily longer! Love all your comic strips Orlando

Lydia is annoying enough, i have a dog (part of a quest) who follows me around and he is so annoying, always right behind me, although he is good for tanking dragons!

Re: Skyrim
The first comic is very true. Lydia is most annoying in the Riverwood base of operations, because she constantly blocks the only staircase. Btw, does anyone know where she'll wait for me if I'll tell her that I want to travel alone for the time being? In Whiterun?

Don't worry, the favorite button is all you get on PC also. That's actually the reason I stopped playing it after a few hours. It was just stupid to be a caster that can bind 2 spells at a time when you got some kind of armor spell that lasts for 60s, a conjurable companions that last for 90s and you're supposed to cast some damaging spells and use wards too. Way too much swapping for my taste, not to mention the ruination of the mood when you're in the heat of a battle and need to use a different spell and the only way to do that is to pause the frigging game. That's just lame And I've always been more fond of casters than melee characters so just getting a sword and being happy isn't that great of an option for me either. Would it really cost that much for Bethesda to get a couple decent people to make some changes to the PC versions of their games? Can't really imagine it being that big of a deal to create better menus for PC (the ones in Skyrim are just horrible to use on a mouse) and giving a chance to use your spells/skills the same way as in pretty much every other game, instead of stupidly swapping them to your hands like they were some physical weapons. Otherwise the game seemed pretty cool and interesting but the gameplay problems are just too major for me to keep playing the game at least until someone creates a mod to fix them. Just happy I didn't spend any money on it, Bethesda doesn't deserve it

Re: Skyrim
You can assign hotkeys for items on your favourite list.. Just bring the list up and with the item highlighted simply press the number you wish to assign it.

I'm pretty sure I gave that a try, and if I'm not mistaken that just swapped the assigned spell to one of the hands. Not sure how that works on items tho. What I missed was a system that would allow me to bind spells to buttons and when I press that button that spell would be cast. So that I could have 10 spells immediately available without the need to "equip" them like they were weapons.

I actually mentioned this in the starting post There is some slowdown (frame rate dropping), but until they release a patch I'm okay with saving, restarting the game and thus clearing the memory and then loading the last save. Luckily I haven't got any trouble completing quests, trying to talk to people or sell stuff, crossing my fingers I won't.

If you have bought a house she will wait for you there. If not she'll be in the hall of the Jarl.. But yeah, those frost trolls killed her in my game too

Re: Skyrim
I don't find the menu system annoying personally but I don't play many of these type of games so maybe I'm not used to the way they normally are? Luckly for me I F5 a lot in the game so I don't have to many problems loading from a previous save when Lydia dies...and it's mainly from me because I'm a destruction Fire mage and my Fireballs are aoe and destroy her...if I didn't need the pack-mule I wouldn't go with a companion. I haven't had problems with dragon in this game it's those damn Scourage Overlords that one shot me that gets me...

Re: Skyrim
A nice solution to the favouritesmenu on PS3 would have been to separate weapons, spells, potions and also scrolls. The up-button could've been weapons, left spells, right potions and down scrolls. I am not 100 % sure, but I don't think the left, right and down buttons on the controller are in use. This way, you don't have to scroll "endlessly" before getting what you wanted. The last Deus Ex game i.e. managed a quick and smooth change of weapons, so the possibilities are there!

Re: Skyrim
okay lvl 17 destruction argonian archmage, and i must say iim liking it. And i am also seeing no real need to use the other spells, with pots most bossfights are over pretty quickly, just runnin around dualcasting lightnin bolt. oh and i was expecting something more from alduin. I basically just do alchemy & lockpicking ofc, proffs still not something id wanna put my time into. And instead of manpower ppl should give me income >.<
