I thought the episode was totally boring. The thing with Shane and Otis....saw that coming a mile away. It was such a great twist...a real character moment...but it could have been done so much better if they didn't waste so much time on Carl, Rick, Lori, Glenn and the girl (is it Maggie?). Also, if the guy playing Shane didn't suck so much too.
Reading the comics, I think the casting on this show is about 50% awful. Andrew Lincoln is a terrible choice for Rick...like, the worst. Rick in the comics isn't so fragile....he's conflicted emotionally about things...but he's all about doing the right thing...it's automatic to him. The Rick that we get in the show...I think Dale or Daryl make better and more natural leaders.
Shane and Lori are so poorly cast too...I just can't get myself to care for them on the show...they're so flat and unconvincing...
Glenn, Dale, Andrea, Daryl, and even Maggie and Otis...I think those are the best characters they've had on the show...but of course they're the least developed.
I have a feeling that the Shane plot from the comics may hit its climax at the finale of this season...and it would be a perfect cliffhanger for next season...it would develop the characters a lot and resolve some of the pseudo-drama that they've been forcing, and make things more real for everyone. I'm just bummed that that climax isn't likely to come sooner...
I think the chapter after Hershel's farm is going to be awesome if they can manage to portray it right...
