Re: Grand Theft Auto V

Yeah, not much info given, except the title. But I'm probably going to be all over this one, just like the other GTA's.

Re: Grand Theft Auto V

I just started playing through Vice City again after god knows how many years. To me this is the best GTA to date, nothing comes close with the atmosphere!

+1

no doubt about it Vice City is the best one, the atmosphere is great and its just the right amount of size, its not too big as the others are, i know vice city almost as good as my home town after all the hours spent to that game. its the only gta i have completed 100% on.

Re: Grand Theft Auto V

I don't think they would call it GTA V when it's "Vice City HD".

Re: Grand Theft Auto V

Personally, I'm hoping for something new, plus the "five dollar V" is meant to give some hint to where it is located.

I would rather see it NOT in vice city, although I like vice city and played it to destruction the new game could make a mockery of the original.

We'll just have to wait for the trailer which is due in the next week or two...

I don't see your point, because if you look at it like that, then GTA IV was Liberty City HD. wink

As for the dollar sign, in my opinion it resembles the Latino gangs, so maybe the story will revolve around that.

PS. I hope it won't be Los Santos, because I hated that town in San Andreas and I spent the least amount of time there out of all three cities.

The point is that Vice City was a 1980's era setting, with 80's music, clothing and cars. I enjoyed that game but I don't want "just a better version" of that, I'd rather have it be a seperate DLC (probably won't happen).

Liberty City was used for GTA 1, 3 and 4, next to the various console derivatives. Liberty City in GTA 4 was also based a lot more on New York, while GTA 1's version was more Manhattan-like and GTA 3 was a mix of a lot of different areas.
So no, GTA4 wasn't just Liberty City HD.

Re: Grand Theft Auto V

Hm, the trailer IMO was only good. A lot of content, like the car models for example, seems to be copied & pasted from GTA 4. On the good side it doesn't like the main protagonist is going to be a homeboy and that's what I was afraid of the most. And I'm glad to see some countryside. Truck missions were one of few enjoyable things in GTA: San Andreas.

I particularly like the Red Convertibles "roof trick" nice to see it in a game for once ;D

Re: Grand Theft Auto V

I didn't see any remarkable GTA4 cars, the sports cars are all new models based on new cars (Ferrari California for example).

The one thing that bothered me was the lack of graphical detail, at first I thought it was a prank making it look like a GTA4 mod. It's obvious the graphics are held back because of consoles...

Yup, I've played GTA 4 about 90% on a console and the difference between that game and modded GTA 4 on PC is HUGE. Besides even GTA 4 had some major issues with keeping a stable framerate, even if nothing big was happening.

You mean they are the same because they have a dark color ? Seriously !? You don't see anything else different ? You are really defending your point with that ?

Re: Grand Theft Auto V

OK now I know you are kidding, haha funny one ! Almost had me there in believing you were visually impaired. Good show, making me think bitching about some cars looking the same, just like in the real world, was your main concern with the game. Good one, almost fell for it.

Re: Grand Theft Auto V

I know that in real life it's hard not to see the same cars over and over again since there's only a few dozen of car manufacturers and a lot of models are sold in million copies. But it's a video game and using the same models again is a sing of laziness, especially since they weren't so detailed in the first place (as compared to modern racing games). Of course I don't mind one or two classics finding their way to the next game like Stallion did in previous games, but I'm hoping there won't be too many of them. As for my ranting in general, I think it's safe to say that you should expect A LOT from a game that will be released more than four years after GTA IV.

Like Duke Nukem Forever, Rage, Gran Turismo, you mean ? They all disappointed because too much was expected from them. And because they had their own problems.

The thing that always was a limitation with every GTA game was the lack of many different cars. So expecting that to change suddenly is not a good idea, you are going to be disappointed most likely. Expect nothing, wait patiently and when it's released, let your happiness explode.

Re: Grand Theft Auto V

Trailer looks cool and I like the new City... Although I don't see that much improvement in the models compared to GTA IV... But maybe that's due to the still early stage of development, who knows...

Guess it will probably come out late next year, just in time for christmas... Would make (some) sense...

I just hope my Core2 Quad Q9400 and my Geforce GTX280 will still be enough to play it with decent settings wink

I don't mind waiting long for a game if it means that the attention to detail will be overwhelming (Alan Wake, Gran Turismo 5). But the more you wait your expectations are getting higher and higher. I'm pretty sure that GTA5 will be a great game, but after waiting for so much long the first trailer should leave you with a feeling of this being an entirely new product. And as for the cars, what do limitations to how many models can be in the game have in common with using cars from old games? You can still do 50 brand new models and operate (solely) on them.

Re: Grand Theft Auto V

I think that with GTA they are trying to do too much, I always love GTA games, they are my most played games, but i think they should focus a bit more with making the cars great and focus a little less on everything else, still there is no game that can compete with GTA where you can both drive and walk around in a city. I always have said that I would LOVE a game that was a mixture of GTA and Gran turismo

Do you mean how the cars look or how they handle? IMO their visuals should be improved a little, but overall they weren't that bad. As for the driving model, I was very sceptic when I first played GTA 4, but I quickly got used to 'driving small boats' type of play and it made me enjoy evert moment spent being behind the wheel. It was certainly better than driving cardboard boxes in Saints Row games.

i mean the graphic, the handle isnt excellent but its not something that bothers me either, but having the detailed graphic that gran turismo have in GTA would have been amazing
