agreed. but i will add season 3 too.
season 4 got new adds from 2 new girls. with too many characters the main characters do not get a chance to shine that much. but in a way  i like Amy as she is very straightforward person, and there has been some great episodes with her.

Another way to look at it is, with Friends, HIMYM, and Community all the characters work together any combination of people in an episode will work. Also over a course of a season all the main characters screen time is about equal.

Not all the characters combinations work on this and Sheldon has about 80% of the screen time over the course of the season (rightfully so since he's the only one consistently funny).

This is also the only comedy that I can think of that has added people to the main cast without subtracting anyone.

I disagree. To me the first two seasons were the best, but it was slowly getting stale. "These four guys are extremely, socially-incompetently nerdy" can last only so long. While the jury is still out on Bernadette I find Amy to be the highlight of almost any episode. Sheldon's quips and quotes are very predictable and he doesn't surprise me. Amy manages to do that every single episode. I think the show would be much poorer without the girls and all of them are well written.

I guess she's portrayed as a cute blond girl with large breasts, that doesn't stereotypically have to be slutty our "outputting" because she has large breasts. Although we want her to show those puppies the way Penny does.
