Topic: Android Games / Apps recommendations
I'm probably not the only one with an Android Phone / Tablet, so i thought let's make it a little easier on ourselves with finding the right apps in the millions available. So let's share usefull apps, links, and all other things related to a nice android experience here! If you know a better app, or just an app or game that you think i can use, i would love to hear it! To get it started, here are some apps i find very handy: - Remote Web Desktop Really handy app that let's you remote control your android device threw a web interface from every computer in the world! It's let's you type sms messages on your computer, run an FTP server on your phone, let's you view the phone's camera, and if you're rooted, even displays it's screen and you can control your android device! And some stuff more... check it out... - Chrome to Phone Lets me send weblinks to my phone from my browser. It's made for Chrome, but there's also a Firefox extension that works for it (which i use). - BSPlayer Lite Finally a player that let's me stream my movies and all from my normal network shared pc without any BS ! - Superbox Let's me adjust settings on the phone, let's me clean my memory, SafeGuard, taskkiller and build in App2SD. -Winamp My favorite music player! It has a nice wifi sync function. But it doesn't work that good with me. -Soundhound For recognizing music.... 3G watchdog To view how much 3G data i consume. It even warns me when i'm about to hit my limit. For most, not all, programs there are also free versions available. There are more apps that i can recommend, maybe i will add them later.

Re: Android Games / Apps recommendations
Does anybody know a good website or youtube channel or something where i can view the latest and best apps and games? It's really hard to know which app you must have out of the thousands that practically do the same. And to install them all...... A youtube channel would be nice, so i can just watch the latest reviews......

Re: Android Games / Apps recommendations
This is a good post... I've recently bought a Galaxy S2 and have just started looking into the apps to get... My favourite so far is "Sid Player" - old-school C64 tunes on my phone - how cool is that? It's not sad - honest! Well, maybe just a bit
2020. Meh.

I can recommend a very addictive game: Carcassonne! Otherwise, I use Dropbox, sudoku, local bus app, Spotify and Swiftkey on a regular basis.

Re: Android Games / Apps recommendations
Appbrain and Androidpit for new apps and recommendations -andless -> can play also flac music files -blinkx Beat -> funny and thrilling videos -Tunein radio -> best radio app -go weather -> besides different clocks which show the time and weather, also the wallpaper shows the weather cinetrailer -> newest trailers titanium backup -> to backup data and apps My favourite app tho i can not tell here because it's not entirely legal let's say it belongs to the streaming apps and combines the advantages of the next-episode app and watching TV shows.

Re: Android Games / Apps recommendations
Is it me or is there no good media player available ? I'm testing the Asus Slider and I can't find a media player that renders 720p fluently.

Re: Android Games / Apps recommendations
Did you try moboplayer? from what I have read it's the best one out there. Might be a bitch to setup correctly but once you get it running it's supposed to be the best. I have it installed but I haven't tested it as I prefer watching my TV-shows and whatnots on a bigger screen.

Re: Android Games / Apps recommendations
It seems to be even crappier than BS Player. Come on, this is a dual core Tegra 2, why can't it run HD video ? I see and hear people bitching about Apple's "restrictions" that you can't play an AVI file but an iPad can atleast handle 720p out of the box.

Re: Android Games / Apps recommendations
i can help you with that, what do i get in return? Anyway the tegra 2 seems to suck when it comes to video rendering or atleast it's not fully supported yet with hardware rendering of video files, Tegra 2 can decode 720p with high profile and 1080p with baseline profile compression. The best video player for the dual Tegra 2 which i found so far is the dice player but it costs a few €.

Re: Android Games / Apps recommendations
It isn't free ?! The main complaint about an iPad is that "all" apps cost money and now I have to buy a media player for Android... OK, I just tried the Dice Player and it still has a lot of issues on a 4GB h264 ([email protected]) 720p movie.

Re: Android Games / Apps recommendations
is it in mkv format? it works better with mp4. Make sure that u chose hardware and not software rendering but yeh the Tegra 2 sux, the processor of the Galaxy S2 (equinox?) is much better with decoding of viideo files and should have been used instead. Well not all apps are free on android and the developers should be supported aswell for their work.

your welcome, even tho moboplayer diden't work so good for me, as it doesn't seem to support hardware accelleration yet atleast i could use it only in software mode, maybe i did sth wrong. Atleast Dice player supports hardware decoding too.

Re: Android Games / Apps recommendations
two new Android app recommendations: -Alicoid: If you are from germany/austria/switzerland or can speak german, than check this app out.. it's like Siri a virtual assistant/personal butler and i love it. It can set and show u your appointments, set your alarm clock, you can open any app on your phone via voice, it can calculate, show you images, send sms/email/status updates, can translate with 39 native languages, can tell jokes, you can teach it who your contacts are -> call my boss, it can answer knowledge questions -> what is gravity, how high is mount everest, what is the capital of, what will be the weather tomorrow, when leaves the next train to, what is currently running on TV, how did Bayern Munich play, and a lot more it costs 0,99 cents but worth any penny -TVGo Live TV: With this app you can watch live TV on your phone for free. 38 countries with different TV channels are supported already and new ones are added aswell. From germany you can watch all major channels like RTL, Sat 1, Pro 7, RTL 2, Kabel 1, ARD, ZDF, ect, from USA you have HBO, SYFY, Fox movie, Fox crime, Hollywood, Cinemax, ect. Since it's live TV you will see commercials and also Android ads but those Android ads vanish after a minute or when you press fullscreen. And some channels have russian subtitles but oh well. You need the flash plugin and for some channels Vitamio Plugin which you can get from the Android Market for free aswell

Re: Android Games / Apps recommendations
The only mobile game that has got me really hooked is Dismount. The idea of the game is to push a guy down stairs/buildings/what nots and inflict as much damage as possible. It's based on a PC game from yesteryears. There's a free version available and if you want extra levels or different types of people to dismount you can throw a few €€€. I think it's an awesome game and cannot believe it's not on the top free games in Android Market. Go download it now, you won't regret it! And no I'm no way affiliated with the game or its makers, just a fan.

Re: Android Games / Apps recommendations
yep first there was Shazam, then came Soundhound which was even better because it could recognize more songs (also remixes) and faster than shazam could. Soundhound can also recognize songs which are sung or hummed by youself. But snce the newest updates Shazam is again faster than soundhound, good competition. If one doesn't know a song the other probably will, so they complement each other pretty well.

Re: Android Games / Apps recommendations
another fantastic app in case your Android Phone/Tablet gets stolen or you forget it somewhere this app is very helpful Cerberus anti theft you can -locate the phone/tablet -track it -lock it with new password -wipe the phone + sd card -record sound and listen to what the thief is saying -make photos with back/front camera and flash light -scare the finder with extremly loud sounds or send texts/voice messages even tho it's set to silent -the app can be made invisible in the app drawer -you can see the call log with the incoming and outgoing phone numbers, which wifi network it is connected to and who the provider is -even when the gps is turned of, the app turns it automaticly on again when the phone gets located The app can be remotely controlled via website or sms from another phone/tablet, so you can either protect your phone or maybe spy on your loved ones, friends, employees
