It's for your own good ... Just get an iPad, it's the better choice anyway, by far

Yeap, life's a bitch.

Re: Apple what have you done???
while i wouldn't get an ipad 2, if the rumors are right the resolution of the ipad 3 with 2.048 x 1.536 would be interesting but the competition will probably have something similar in stock by then. But i want my Galaxy Tab 10.1 now grrrrrr

Re: Apple what have you done???
Nice unfounded Apple hate there Deke, join the rest of the haters. I was wondering where this month's Apple haters topic was, I thought I missed it. I understand why Apple sued Samsung:
By the way, it's not like Apple is the only one who does this: every big corporation has an entire legal department engages for patent infringements, clones and other disputes, every single day. Seriously HomerS, why do you care about something a company does ? Are they putting you through pain ? Are they stealing your money ? Because if you want a Galaxy Tab 10.1, you can get it. But I don't think you want to buy it. You just want to express your negative view on Apple.

Re: Apple what have you done???
I would advise against an iPad 2 because of the shoddy camera. The poor quality is very noticeable, like taking a pic with a webcam circa 2003. We have both iPad and iPad 2 and thought the iPad 2 just wasn't worth it.

Lol Apple are just greed. They hold back on basics and then release a new version with one new lil thing so fanboys go hand them money. I dont get this apple obsession people have, wtf is the point of a Ipad. I never once thought to myself "I wish my phone was too big to carry in my pocket and lost its ability to make phone calls...."

i once thought the same way... then i used an ipad, and now i want one... its a really handy machine... and in the PC world how often do you upgrade your machines? i've had this mac for 3 years now, and see no reason to buy a new one for the next 5 years... a friend of mine bought the last G4 Ibook when it came out and he is still using it as his main computer - and he's not the only one... if Apple is greedy why do they make machines that people use a very very long time? shoulnd't they sell machines that brake down after 5 startups. PS. this i my second mac. i've used computers since the VIC20 to C64 to PC 386 and so forth... and i've always hated windows... 3.0 was just shit, 3.11 was just useless, 95 was a virus, 98 was just a piss, XP was the disappointment of the decade, Vista was just ridicilous and for win7 i actually have no experience, couse i already bought a machine i liked: a Macintosh PSS. i've had the IPhone 3G (first one) for three years also, and i see no reason to buy a new one for the next 5 years... PSSS. but i do want an Ipad...

HP releases new desktops and laptops every two-three months with usually just an updated videocard, more disk space or a little faster processor. Acer doesn't have a schedule, they just release devices on monthly basis with very minor changes. Dell does the same thing. Samsung and Asus also release new devices every few months. And you complain Apple only changes little things ? They rarely change any product in less than 6 months. Have you heard of Thunderbolt ? Lithium-Polymer batteries ? Thinnest laptops, which recently updated to Core i5 and i7 ? High-speed SSD's available in all their models ? ritman wrote:I dont get this apple obsession people have, wtf is the point of a Ipad. Yes a tablet is like a large phone, just like a netbook is a small laptop and a monitor is just a small TV. Also, a USB stick is a tiny hard disk and a smartphone is just a large phone. You clearly do not understand what a tablet is for, you aknowledge it and you still rant about it. Are you 14 ? If not, you are an ignorant fool.

Iphone and a pc are diffrent, i agree Macs are very good i dont see any diffrence between windows and mac TBH accept the layout and interface but apple are more greeedy with their Iphones and Ipads, look how quickly they keep pumping them out with minor change, Original>3G>3Gs>Iphone 4. With each new release all they have been doing is trying to catch up to other smart phones, it didnt even have a CAMERA! almost every1 i ask who upgrades to the latest iphone or Ipad cant even tell me what the diffrence is between the newer and previous version. And i know for a fact as soon as the newer one comes out people que up for DAYS to get a newer one and upgrade their phones to the newer model as soon as. But imm sure that it is a handy device but completely uncessary

I was talking about the Ipad and Iphone not Laptops or PCs, Laptops and Pcs are somthing you keep for years, phones are somthing you change on a yearly basis. My point is a Ipad is a waste of money becuase their are alot of better and cheaper choices than an Ipad that allows you to do more for your money, i can do everything on my phone that most people do with their Ipad. What is an Ipad for? Novelty Value. All people do is play games and browse the internet, why would you even have time for that if your not at home? and when your at home you could just use your laptop of Pc.

So you think 4 phones in 4 years is "quick" ? HTC released 70 (!) phones in the last 4 years. Looking at only one OS where they produced the LEAST for, Windows Phone 7, they made 5 in less than a year. Apple makes one a year... You want to talk about minor changes ? HTC is another good example of that. The same goes for other brands, but in lesser extent. Apple only has one device every year, where only the color or memory size is an option. ritman wrote:With each new release all they have been doing is trying to catch up to other smart phones, it didnt even have a CAMERA!
You mean this ?
That's the first iPhone, BTW. Or did you mean the front-facing camera that "EVERYONE WAS WAITING FOR !!!111" ? ritman wrote:almost every1 i ask who upgrades to the latest iphone or Ipad cant even tell me what the diffrence is between the newer and previous version.
Because most iOS owners are incredibly satisfied with the end-result and don't dwindle on nerd-features or the fact it's "not Apple". Most people tend to keep buying stuff they are happy with. ritman wrote:And i know for a fact as soon as the newer one comes out people que up for DAYS to get a newer one and upgrade their phones to the newer model as soon as.
That's a sign it MUST be crap ! Who would want to wait for something so awful ? ritman wrote:I was talking about the Ipad and Iphone not Laptops or PCs, Laptops and Pcs are somthing you keep for years, phones are somthing you change on a yearly basis.
I had an iPhone 2G and I had it for 3.5 years. It was the first phone I didn't want to upgrade after 6 months. Three of my closer friends also had their iPhone for more than 3 years and I know many more who have had theirs for years. ritman wrote:My point is a Ipad is a waste of money becuase their are alot of better and cheaper choices than an Ipad that allows you to do more for your money, i can do everything on my phone that most people do with their Ipad.
A lot better for you maybe, most people are just happy with browsing, emailing, gaming and photo browsing. Android isn't massively better at any of them. Obviously you have never had any decent experience with a tablet because you keep comparing it to phones. I suggest you try before you cry. ritman wrote:What is an Ipad for? Novelty Value. LOL ! All I'm reading from you is "this is my opinion, but also the world's opinion." Do you realise not everyone is like you ? I use my iPad more than my desktop PC or my phone combined. Not because I love it, it's just a tool to me. But because it's so handy without sitting in a chair or lugging around a laptop. And a lot of people like this kind of mobility without sacrificing too much of ease of use compared to a desktop or notebook. The only thing I read here are empty "I hate Apple because everybody likes them" and "People are stupid because they like Apple". I hope it makes you sleep better at night knowing you have something to hate so you can rant about it. I also hate something, it's ignorant people.

As for the torrent app, a tablet is not meant for that kind of use. Proper PCs and laptops are meant for handling files in that manner and tablets simply are not. Tablets are meant for lighter use, surfing, mails, pictures, video, not seeding torrented files. They don't try or want to be fully fledged computers, but rather something completely different from computers and phones. They just look like a mix of the two. the location data is encrypted on the phone, but not on the computers you sync it with. it's not only stored 2 weeks, you can track your movements years back if you want. it's not only used to help connect to networks, it's can also be used by applications that "need" to know where you are. the big deal is that it is creepy. and there's no way to get rid of that file unless you jailbreak it. the point is, maybe you dont find a problem with having all your movements registered and stored in a file you can't remove, but i do, and if i were to buy a smartphone i would like to be able to have the control over said phone to do as i wish with it. technology should serve us, i think. android had a similar tracking feature, but i think it was removed due to popular demand. with an open system i would not even have to petition a company to do so, i could just do it myself if i wanted to. as for the torrent app. if i had a tablet i would mainly use it to watch shows i guess, and it would make a lot of sense for me to be able to directly dl the videos i'm about to watch. proper pcs and laptops are meant for.. anything the user decide it should do. why not so with tablets? if i want a torrent app, why can't i have one? what's the harm in letting me decide what i want my tablet to do? my main issue is this lack of freedom. the hardware is there, torrent apps require very modest hardware, the limitation is not in the hardware, it's a company saying they know better than me what i want. "Once you get to using a tablet, you come to see you actually don't even want to do the things most people on teh internets criticize them for." that sounds like so much sour grapes you know i have used an ipad a few times, and i thought it was a bit claustrophobic because i knew i had no control over it.
Didn't Apple issue an update that changed the file to be encrypted on the computer as well and so it only stored it for two weeks after the story broke? Also, you can decide on a per app basis which of you apps can access your location. And you always must specifically allow it first, it can't be on as default. What to use a tablet for discussion is one one most common one. Saying that you want to decide what how you use a device and the company that made it should enable you to do it, is like saying I'd like to drive my car on two wheels, but Ford won't make a car that will let me do that. It's their product and it does what they decide. If you want to do something else, you need to get a tablet from some other company. There's always other options. Android has some cool tablets. They probably have a torrent app. Sorry, that came out more aggressive than I meant it. My point is, you want a device that Apple simply doesn't make. For me they make a very nicely fitting tablet. I really didn't mean my statement to sound like sour grapes. I have only a few times wished I had flash on my tablet and have never wanted to use torrents on it. I simply meant that once one uses a tablet, one sees that those things really have no place on it. There's no harm in letting people use devices the way they wish, but devices are made a larger group of people than us nerds. And companies like Apple have to make a device that would suit as many people as possible. And the amount of people who want to torrent shows on their tablets is significantly smaller than the bunch that don't. I would love to live in a world where all software was open source and anyone could modify everything, but that's just not feasible. As long as companies need to make money, there will be proprietary software. And the reason why I think open source OSs haven't taken off? Very few people want to work on their systems as opposed to just using them. Why does everyone always have their panties in a twist when it comes to Apple not letting you do things, but no one is complaining that they can't play PS games on their XBOX? Well, other than me.

Re: Apple what have you done???
Phuncz, toidol ... I feel your pain guys. The thing is, you can't explain why the iPhone or the iPad are so much better than any other "competing" product. Or why you would even need the iPad. Not with arguments (as valid as they are). People only seem to "get it" once they use the devices for a while. I was like that too - thought the iPhone was an overpriced gay phone with more restriction than features, and once they unveiled the iPad, I was rather disappointed and couldn't figure out why they would put out such useless crap that no one really needs. I now own 3g, 3gs (current wife's phone), iPhone 4, iPad and iPad 2 (and in my country, there are no official Apple stores, so I have to pay double on the US prices, some times more, unless I wait like 7-8 months which is impossible) and wouldn't trade em for anything else. Not with the current competition. I gave up on trying to convince anybody with words of why they're better. They just are and you'll know it once you had the chance to use em. That is all.

Re: Apple what have you done???
And this is such bullshit niva. I can't help but comment on it. a) apps can't access that history of what it tracked before (years back as you say), it's only used on system level, and it was a bug they left it accessible from the computer b) apps only use location info if you let em (it asks and you can deny it forever per app or overall) c) you spend 2 minutes jailbreaking your device, and you have all the freedom you want, install torrent clients, dos, linux, android, whatever you like. The homebrew community is pretty huge. Don't pull that "but no, it's bad cause Apple restricts it and I gotta jailbreak it" bullshit now. You enjoy your freshly downloaded episode of Firefly even though you had to go through some loops (torrents) to get it and Whedon didn't come by your door to give it to you or just released it out for free? Although my analogy is bad, I still kinda like it. For the record my devices are not jailbroken. I jailbroke em initially, but found out I don't really need/use any of the stuff that this gave me access to - so now I don't do it anymore. But it's there if you want or need it. Cheers

Re: Apple what have you done???
Lol Phuncz chill out, i dont really care one way or the other, its just my opinion every1 can have their own. Im not trying to target Apple but the whole tablet industry (well i kinda did but didnt mean to, to me apple represents tablets and smart phones). I just dont have a need for an Ipad, Im always near my laptop and when in not its becuase im out of the house and even the act of pulling out my phone gets me a lecture from people about being "anti-social" so i wouldnt even use it when im out + i would be constantly worried about damaging/losing/having it stolen. Ive used one in an apple store near my uni like everyday for a month cos i got bored during my breaks and its ok but not somthing i would buy, cos i just dont need it.

We all have our favourites and that is absolutely fine. I know that Apple makes quality products which are userfriendly in the way that they are easy to use and easy to understand. Apple and their marketing is able to create a hysteria for their products so that people who never thought they would want those products, are eager to buy and own them. And i can respect that. On the other hand Apple doesn't give their customers complete freedom, they give them restrictions and quide them in the direction they think is right and not the other way around but it seems to work and many of the customers don't seem to mind and that is ok too. santah wrote: .... and wouldn't trade em for anything else. Two friends of mine have an iphone 4 so i could already test it quite a bit and it is a nice device no question about that but could you also already test some of the newer Android smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S2 or the HTC Sensation? Cause those are also some very nice phones and a strong competition for a good price. (Galaxy S2 ~ 480 €, iphone 4 ~ 630 €)

I change phones when they break. So it usually takes 3 to 5 years. Whoever said you have to change it yearly, you're using it the wrong way.
