Topic: Season 5 will be last!
Last week came the reports that Syfy had ordered a six episode sixth season of Eureka, but that those would be the final six episodes. Syfy then confirmed the six episodes in a statement but denied they would be the last episodes saying that although it had no commitment beyond the six episodes for season six, it was “hopeful that would not be the end of the franchise.” Four days later and Syfy isn’t hopeful anymore and sadly for Eureka fans, as of tonight Syfy has backed away completely from a sixth season. It was starting to get a bit stale.
However, looking at all the crap that is on TV at the moment, it was a good show.

Actually Eureka was one of my currently running favorites. I knew it was over the minute they had to do a timetravel thingy to save the show, but still. It was a good show. I truly liked the iea of a streetsmart wisecracker like Carter being put in charge fo atown full of nerds. But the drama they had to put in there to keep a story line going just wasn't whole hearted. I'd have been just as happy with less drama and more fun. The concept of a continuing story line in shows that are randomly cancelled just baffles me.... Given that the currently running season likely doesn't have a show-ender, I'll probably choose to NOT watch the last couple of episodes, because I hate when a show ends on a cliffhanger....

Noooo I started to enjoy the new plot and cast (Felcia Day was a nice surprise ^^)

This was bad news. Eureka is quite fun. However, the currently running season is season four, right? So the 13 episode season 5 should be next year, and we still have atleast 5 episodes left this year? And the season 6 that apparently will not be, would have been after season 5. In 2013 then. Or am i missing something?

There is a new holiday episode this December and 12 stellar episodes set to debut next year, marking its fifth season and six memorable years on Syfy. The 2012 episodes are some of the best we’ve seen, and will bring this great series to a satisfying end.

Eureka is one of the best guilt free guilty pleasures I have. I hope they give the show a nice wrapping, and please, do a happy one ... SGU's finale was sooooo melancholic I do hope some executive revives the show in 3 years just to wake the sorry bastarts up and see the show through.

Don't expect a big wrap up since they've already shot season 5 or In the process of shooting the last 2 episodes. They had the current episodes being aired done over a year ago....Syfy really kind of sucked since the name change.

If they end it properly, then I'll at least be ok with it ending, but seriously, if Sci-Fi channel has no sci-fi on it, why not simply rename it to "wrestling tv" already... since thats what they seem to be airing more of than its namesake genre...

The series has been granted one additional episode so that means 19 more episodes total – the five remaining to air from season 4.5, plus the now 14 episodes in season five.

it already did... its SyFy - which doesn't mean anything (which tells alot about the channels content) and no-one knows how it's pronounced (which tells us that the management of the former sci-fi channel are idiots...)
what doesn't kill you - hurts even more...
