Re: Pilots for the 2011-2012 season! Updated!

Yes, i agree with the rest of the posters it was a really good post. Great job, information like this usually is a huge effort to collect on your own. Sadly, there is not many of the pilots that seems interesting to me.

Rookies on CBS could be watchable, wierd though that it seems to be exactly the same as "Rookie Blue" from last year. Yay, imagination. But, that was good and this can probably be good too. Alcatraz on Fox could maybe also be good, but it just as well could be bad. Depends on the details. but, they already ordered it so maybe it stood out as quite good. We shall see about that.

The Crossing on NBC could maybe also be good, who knows. Also Hart of Dixie on The CW could be good, atleast plotwise. On the other hand, it is on The CW. Home of the plastic people targeted at the 14-year-old-girl-demographic. We shall see about that too. smile

As for all the various comedys i will wait until i see them, comedys is impossible to predict if they are good or bad beforehand it is all about the characters and writing. But some of the comedys seems wierd already, like "I Hate my teenage daughter"....how is that plot supposed to be funny? It just seems sad to me. Bullying is a sad topic, bullied mothers is a sad topic, bitchy- bullying girls and their victims are a sad topic and mothers who hate their daughters or vice versa is a sad topic. Everything about it seems sad, i dont see how it could be funny in any way. Also, watching women constantly fighting and bitchin at eachother is sad in itself, not funny either. brr.

Also, "sexy soap" is in the description on atleast two shows. That sounds horrible.

Thanks for the effort.

So far my favorite is...

2. Playboy (Chad Hodge). Set in the 1960s, the drama takes a look at the lives of Playboy bunnies. Stars Amber Heard, David Krumholtz, Eddie Cibrian (drama). NBC must be really desperate lol

Yeah i like this one too smile Amber Heard is gorgeous ! And it's gonna get picked up they just have to deal the whole nudity problems with the The Parents Television Council .

That's typically US paranoia. Nudity is not pornography as they always proclaim.
If you think you like this show, than take a look at the Australian show Satisfaction, which centers around a high-class brothel. While there are obviously many nude sex scenes nobody would consider this show as pornography. It is actually a very decent drama show which ran for three seasons smile

Well if Playboy was on cable tv then it would be no problem , but this is network tv ...

Re: Pilots for the 2011-2012 season! Updated!

Thanks for the list, spydy!  Though I gotta say, the majority of them look like a load of crap!

Hart of Dixie(Leila Gerstein, Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage, Len Goldstein): Culture shock awaits a young New York City doctor after she inherits a medical practice in a small Southern town inhabited by an eclectic and eccentric group of characters in this comedic drama. Cast: Rachel Bilson, Jamie King, Wilson Bethel, Cress Williams

And does this sound like Northern Exposure to anyone else?  Just with a female doctor, and set in the south rather than Alaska.   roll

Indeed - or like Doc Hollywood

Re: Pilots for the 2011-2012 season! Updated!

But sure it could still be good even if it is a recycled idea?

In my opinion rather recycle good ideas, than come up with new bad ideas. Also, atleast Northern Exposure and Doc Hollywood are 20 year old ideas compared to the show "Rookies" i mentioned before which seems to recycle the idea of "Rookie Blue" which premiered last year. smile

I will watch them anyway, or atleast try.

IMHO we have too much recycled ideas. It would be better to risk new ideas. Maybe just produce 6 episodes and do a full season order or try another show one afterwards.
With all this crap around it's hard for good ideas to come though at all. On the other hand - why not doing crappy shows when the demand for crapy reality shows is so high tongue

I would say both yes and no, partly i agree with you there should be more new ideas but then att the same time i still prefer good old ideas to bad new ideas as i said. Its complicated but i think it depends on that the most good ideas already have been had. smile

Many new ideas often seem really stupid. For example i would really prefer another old-school Star Trek show just like the old ones instead of most newer sci-fi-ideas like Dollhouse, Flashforward, The Event and so on.

Schh, dont tell them!
The scary thing is that you are right. They would get the most viewers if every show was some kind of reality-tv-crap. I thought about that the other day, and came to the conclusion that crappy shows thrive while better shows get cancelled not only because of "popular demand" but also because the viewers of better shows are waaay to picky while the viewers of crappy shows are not picky at all. I have never seen comments similar to "omg one of the judges on american idol had a blue shirt on, i will never watch this again" but those kind of comments and attitudes towards more elaborate, scripted shows is really common. Nit-picking its called i believe?

Just the impression i have gotten while reading forums where people watch and bitch and moan over various shows. smile

It is up to us to become just as forgiving on minor flaws as the reality-tv-crowd are with their shows.

Speaking of reality-tv-crap - MTV Announces Two "Jersey Shore" Spinoffs

And the sad thing is people watch this crap :

Another week, another ratings record for Jersey Shore. The red-hot MTV reality phenomenon drew 8.9 million viewers last night, beating last week's record of 8.6 million. In adults 18-49, it averaged a 4.7 rating
