totally disagree, he's a good doctor imho Has failed his lurker exam and posted
Re: Season 6 TrailerAfter rewatching the first 5episodes I reminded of just how weird the first season really was. There's no one who can replace the 10th doctor. David Tennat did such an amazing job with the character that I don't think Matt Smith can ever surpass him. That said I've gotten used to him and think the show is still good. Donna Noble annoyed the living hell out of me though so Amy being a vast improvement helps. Re: Season 6 TrailerXtazyMike wrote:

I completely disagree. I'd even argue that Moffat's writing made the show darker and more mature, the stories' complexity has gone way up, above what I would expect children can handle. And anyone who thinks the previous seasons were more adult has obviously forgotten about farting and unzipping aliens and similar "highlights." But that is not the point, I think I might have (unsuccessfully) argued the same point on a different post in this very same forum, so whatever. Rwings wrote:
See, for me the best Doctor will be Christopher Eccleston, because neither David Tennant nor Matt Smith have the outlandishness and "alienness" of Eccleston. Tennant was great for the emotional parts of his stories, but there was nothing inhuman or different about him. Matt Smith is trying hard to be alien and he succeeds, sometimes. I liked all three of them, each made the role their own, but asked for who the best Doctor was I have to go with Eccleston. Re: Season 6 TrailerI prefer Tennant because he had some of the best scenes and lines, and I overall liked his version of the Doctor. The line at the end of his first episode about what kind of guy he was after he killed the leader is what sealed it. The Fury of the Time Lord scene was also a really good one. Eccleston I just found hard to relate to him and enjoy him as the doctor. I just finish watching the "Are you my mummy" episode and there's just something about his version of the doctor that I can't relate to. I thought he was great and I was annoyed when I watched it the first time and saw that he was only on a season, but rewatching I'm just waiting for D.T. to become the doctor...it might be that I remembered only my favorite scene's and am basing it on that I will soon see. Matt Smith is just a different new version of the doctor it's hard to really judge him based on a season alone. As I said though it helps that I like his companion the most out of the 3 doctors...Rose being second, and Donna being the one were I wanted to take a shout gun or duct tape to her mouth in all of her scenes. Re: Season 6 TrailerSee, what you dislike about Eccleston is exactly why I think he's the best Doctor. I think it's very easy to forget that the Doctor is not human, especially when he's played by Tennant. I think that each season was great, because it was written for the different "styles" of the Doctor, so Eccleston wouldn't be as good at the emotional stuff Tennant excelled at and vice versa. For Tennant they downplayed the Doctor's alienness and now I think they are trying to bring it back with Smith. What I like about Matt Smith is that even though he's very young, he seems old - he's acting like a 900-year old being and mixes it well with the wackiness required for the Doctor. And as far as the companions go I do like Amy Pond a lot, maybe even best. My favorite has always been Martha though. I wasn't that smitten with Rose and honestly don't understand why people pine after her (the character, not the actress) and yes, Donna was just annoying. But one of the biggest achievements of Doctor Who as a show has been the built up of Donna as this extremely annoying character in her first special and then re-introducing her and making us care for her, so her "rueful fate" was really sad. That took some serious doing Re: Season 6 TrailerI just started watching the second season, and I forgot just how incredibly annoying Rose's family his her mom and Micky made me almost want to skip the episodes they were in. I don't remember hating them as much as I did re-watching it. I think what I was basing my liking of Rose is the ending scene in Turn Left when Donna says a blone women told her to tell the Doctor two words: 'Bad Wolf' and I liked how that scene were the Doctor looks shocked and the realization of what was going on. 'Bad Wolf' was one of my favorite rolled out storyline of season one when they were putting the clues together. Isn't the Doctor suppose to be half human?...I think I read that somewhere but I have no clue were and even if it is true. I get he's suppose to be more alien but I don't know I think maybe it would have grown on me more if he would have been the Doctor for more than one season. With the limit time with him compared to the other it's harder to like him more than the others. I'm curious how the River Song storyline is going to play out this season and the Silence Falls storyline. I like that there making stuff over arching to other season's and episodes. And I've enjoyed the episodes River has been in even though at times I don't care for the actual River character. Posts: 16Forums - Next Episode → Doctor Who → Season 6 Trailer |
