Topic: 4x11 (Spoilers)

Hm, interesting choice, finding Hank guilty. I guess I understand that having him walk away scot-free for the nth time is counter-productive, but I don't honestly see the comedy in him being guilty. Also this either ends next week with his sentence being a slap on the wrist, which isn't very shocking or thrilling (and runs counter to the seriousness of the past two episodes, showing the writers don't have the cojones to go through with a serious storyline), or serious jail time, which again I don't see as a setting for next season, so what is the point?

This season definitely had its highlights - 4x04 Monkey Business was one of the funniest, if not the funniest, episodes Californication had - but I'm not really feeling the vibe of the last few episodes. I am all for the court case and the jail time as season-long "big bad," but actually going through is just weird and doesn't fit with the feel of the show.

Re: 4x11 (Spoilers)

I think he will be sentenced for a few years and S05 will start when he walks out on parole.

Re: 4x11 (Spoilers)

yes, monkey ep was the best. Anyway about this episode: for a finale I thought it was rather lame, too few laughs, but overall it was a decent season.

That seems to be the likeliest outcome, but I still don't see what having been in prison would have accomplished. It's not like he'll have trouble finding work - writing is one of the few professions where jail time on your record doesn't in any way affect your ability to get a job - and if it's supposed to change him than why would I tune in? The whole show is about him and his fucked up life. I don't think it's possible to make him worse and making him better would only lead to fewer laughs and crazy situations ...
