Anyone watch it?

I kind of find it sacrilegious...nothing will ever compare to the original...
I'm not really sure about the hosts either...Somehow I just get the feeling I will never be able to get on board with this version.

Re: Top Gear America

Seen a few promos and it looked horrible.

I also quit watching the original Top Gear last year, because they almost entirely forgot that this show is supposed to be about cool tests of fast cars.

Re: Top Gear America

Watched it , it wasn't bad but it wasn't like the real Top Gear...
The hosts aren't that good...

i have to admit that the latest season of original top gear was the best of them all. really if you haven't watched series 15, you should smile it is just legendary...

and for top gear us. the hosts are really bad, they are not funny and seem a bit like stick in mud. why do americans always ruin stuff... if they really wanted their own top gear, they should have taken a look at the autralian version, which is quite good - nowhere near the original, but still decent automotive entertainment  cool

what doesn't kill you - hurts even more...

Re: Top Gear America

Top Gear US still lacks flare. They ruined "Star in a reasonably priced car" by "americanizing" the name into "Big Stars, Small Cars" GAH! That works ok, is quick to remember but the whole idea of being a crapy run of the mill car is lost ... I mean, It could have been an Elise or a Miata with that name, or another pocket rocket like the Mini Cooper John Works which is anything but reasonably priced. Plus, they do not know how to introduce the Stig. Stig should be a driving legend not "our anonymous racing driver" ... there is some team dinamics, you can't beat 14, 15 yars of working together chemistry like the brits have in 3 episodes, but ... they should be having more fun. TopGear is the should to remind us WHY we like cars...

Re: Top Gear America

You've got to place the US show in the US, not compare it to the UK version and expect the same but with American cars. "Reasonably" is probably a word used a lot more in the UK and "cheap" is not a good word a brand wants it's name related to.

The AUS version was very stiff in the beginning too, so I'll guess it may loosen up.

Re: Top Gear America

I agree with herusardo, the americam TG really sucks because it's just lame...

The hosts just have abosultely zip for personality...and they either need to just clone the original or just stop...

The stig intro borders on lame, and the big star small car too is lame....they just need (a) better hosts and (b) someone with flair and imagination and not the crap that's being to people now.

One the other hand the filmography and editing is great

Re: Top Gear America

OK I saw the third episode and it sucked balls. Big juicy donkey balls.

I hope the next one will be better...

Re: Top Gear America

The third episode at least was a challenge. It translated better the fun factor of TopGear. I do hope they get around into better introducing The Stig. The australian version played with the notion that it could be the same stig as the english one. After the Stig Farm joke on topgear.com, however, the simply could have started the american season with a clip of the three presenters going to the Stig Farm and picking one up. Talk about a lost oportunity for a joke! I guess the trouble is that the american topgear crew did not grow up with Monty Python.

Re: Top Gear America

Nope, they grew up with Cadillacs, moonshine and Texas.

Re: Top Gear America

HISTORY today announced that the U.S. version of Top Gear, was given the Green Light for season 2. The critically-acclaimed and popular series attracted the youngest viewers of any series on HISTORY ever.

Re: Top Gear America

It's dead to me at this point.. The hosts continually kill any chance of it being likable.
I would rather watch "the view"

Re: Top Gear America

US top gear was terrible, they need to replace the hosts pronto. It all feels to rehersed and all the jokes are forced.

Re: Top Gear America

The presenters remind me of the opening of a new store: a big idea, unexperienced people who got the job because someone they know is in the management. After a while, management sees the big mistake they made and fire them.
