Topic: Undercovers
Undercovers
Well, I though that it would be better. The fighting scenes weren't that good, but the characters have potential. And since this is JJ, it might turn great

20 minutes in and I never want to see this crap again. I am going to watch the rest anyway - just because I have nothing else to do. TV.COM has "Think Mr. & Mrs. Smith meets Bourne Identity.", but they missed out "...meets Mr. Bean." Truly awful.

Decided to call it quits 20 mins in as well but I figured I'd watch the rest. Suffice it to say those were 47 minutes I could've spent staring at the sun

That's the thing, he is relying on his name and reputation to carry this forward. Just like Joss Whedon and Dollhouse.

Well, there is a difference. Dollhouse was a good idea, but badly executed. Undercovers is just nothing new.

Re: Undercovers
yeah , my thought exactly - the show isn't like a J.J show , it looks like they just used his name... Oh and the 3rd spy , Alex I think , he's funny , I like his character...

Re: Undercovers
1.6 rating in the second week... worse result already than Chuck Personally I gave up after watching half of the pilot.

Re: Undercovers
I know exactly what is going on here. It's a very American thing. Basically, some junior executive walked into an office somewhere and said, hey, I know how to get the black audience numbers back up. Let's do Alias meets Tyler Perry. But wait, the boss says, we already did Alias, won't we have to think up new ideas? No, no, no, we'll just do some recycling and churn out a show with no effort. As a bunch of crusty white guys we know in our hearts that black people are stupid and can be pandered to easily. We won't have to make any effort. Just make sure there's some hot black people there, and maybe some slang. We'll just watch the money roll in. I know most of the people in these are not American and may not be familiar with this mindset. Trust me, this is pretty what happened. Unfortunately for them, Americans are not so stupid about TV. At least, sometimes. Now, if they were only so critical when voting...
Zoë: Preacher, don't the Bible have some pretty specific things to say about killin'? Book: Quite specific. It is, however, somewhat fuzzier on the subject of kneecaps.

Re: Undercovers
The really sad news is that even LOLA is not a success for NBC (drop from a 3.1 rating to 2.4 in one week!!).

Re: Undercovers
I have to say I'm a little surprised. From what I remember NBC paid big bucks to get this show and I thought it was going to get at least one "quiet" 13-episode season without news of premature cancellation. Guess the horrible ratings pissed off someone important.

Re: Undercovers
although not surprised by the early cancellation, i'll miss this show... it had a TON of potential... but I guess it was just another show that went -> assignment -> completion while some interaction and talk about back life sort of -> pissed off old grumpy dude... I'm sure there would have been a great background story in there somewhere... but bad execution will get you an early cancellation... And seriously... @ all those network execs: HOW THE HELL IS A SHOW EXPECTED TO BUILD A FOLLOWING IF IT GETS CANCELLED AFTER THE FIRST SIGNS OF DROPPING NUMBERS??? I mean seriously: Isn't a devoted - though maybe small - fanbase worth SO much more than just a few more million random watchers? I'm not talking about Undercovers really with this, but about shows like "Jericho", that had a devoted fanbase which was of course kinda small... but we were dedicated goddamnit... And seriously... WHAT DOES NBC have anyways? The only shows worth watching they got are "Chuck", "30 Rock", "Chase", "Community" and i guess "The Event"... 5 Shows... WOW NBC... YOU GO... /me is seriously pissed off at TV execs that don't give Shows a real chance...

And still The Office if you didn't mind it not being so great as in early seasons. It's true that they only have a handful of good shows and to be honest I only really look forward to new Chuck episodes each week.

Simple answer to that: NO! All that counts is big viewer numbers = many people who watch ads = satisfied advertisers who spend much money to bring their products to marked. Yes - it's as simple as that.

So devoted, that it was dropping every week. Don't get me wrong, I do feel sorry for the show, the cast was very likeable, but the premise was weak. With a backstory (that was only briefly introduced in the pilot, so it didn't excisted atm) it would be better. But for a one episode=one case show? Nah.

Re: Undercovers
Undercovers, which is scheduled to air its last regular timeslot episode on December 1, will be pre-empted tonight for a Dateline NBC royal engagement special. http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2010/1 … cial/72431
