Re: Features/Improvements Requests
TeaAndApathy wrote:I understand what the OP is suggesting and, yes, it would be handy (tick it off on the Home page as each episode airs rather than navigating to another page to do so, right?). However, it's been suggested before and rejected. Perhaps a future user survey of this feature would encourage development.
This seems to be the best answer as it would seem the guys gets it. I know this is a request section, so I requested it since the current feature doesn't do what I want the way I like it. Also for ArniVidar, you're still missing the point. I can understand you trying to argue once, but just trying to shut down my request here because you think you know it better is hilarious. My preferred step by step would be something like that for those who actually care or find themselves thinking the same: Day 1 1. I see 5 new random episodes aired 2. I grab 3 of them, 2 are still unavailable (those 3 have a little + icon, which marks them grabbed or checkmark which marks them watched, all of this on the home screen) Day 2 1. I see 3 new episodes aired today, I grab all 3 but I forgot about the missing 2 from yesterday. Day 3 1. I leave for vacation and I come back in 10 days Day 14 1. I'm back from vacation, there is a ton of stuff I haven't grabbed/watched. 2. I open "calendar" section to see what I have missed 3. Those episodes I easily marked grabbed are now shining in a different color 4. Those I forgot are unmarked and easy to get without busting my balls. For ArniVidar, you will probably find a way how to do this via episodes section. I'm happy for you. My suggestion is different from how you think I want to do this, that's why it is a suggestions section. Thank you for listening!

Re: Features/Improvements Requests
Mark forum posts as read without opening the post Hey santah, would it be possible to add a function in the forum to checkmark posts? This would be really helpfull for shows you don't watch yourself. The thing is, you will always see the orange square on the main forum as well, so you don't really know if a new post has been made unless you go into the forum directly. For example: Currently there are a lot of posts made in the forum for "Slow Horses". I don't watch this show. So unless I actively go into that post and get back out the orange square will always be there. And not just on the subforum but on the "TV Show Discussions" forum as well. My proposal would be to make the orange square clickable and with that action mark the post as read.
Shows that deserved more runtime: Abbys | Dead Like Me | Devs | Firefly | Gangsta. | Jack of all Trades | Kevin (probably) saves the World | Lodge 49 | Mrs. Davis | NYC 22 | Powerless | Roadkill | Special Unit 2 | Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi | Stumptown | Surface | The Brave | The Company You Keep | The Crazy Ones | The Finder | The Middleman | Truth Seekers | Two Weeks to Live | Whiskey Cavalier

Another way would be to ignore topics, if the software has that ability.

Re: Features/Improvements Requests
There is actually no need for this functionality. When a post is marked "new", it means "new since your last visit". The last visit is then updated and (not immediately, but like in 5-10minutes) everything that was "new" - no longer shows as new. So if you're seeing a post regularly coming up as new - it means there is a lot of action in it and indeed there is always something new in it (since your last visit).

Thanks for the info. Guess my impatience never gave me the opportunity to observe this

It's the universe trying to tell you to give https://next-episode.net/slow-horses a chance! I started watching it 'too late' - with the benefit of having more to catch up.

Re: Features/Improvements Requests
Could you overlap the months on the first and last week on the calendar page? Currently, on the first of the month, to see the shows that aired the previous night you have to click back a page to the previous month, instead of just looking to the cell to the left. Most printed calendars do this, as does Google calendar when in Month at a time display. Thank you, this is a great site!

Re: Features/Improvements Requests
I will reassert my petty complaint. I was forced to look at notifications before interacting with the site when I am not ready to read them. Please add an X to CLOSE the notification box or some other way to dismiss it and not get redirected to the page that shows the changes. The red blinky highlight is sufficient to tell me something has been posted and I can click on it when I am ready to read them. I don't mind knowing new things are there, I do mind getting forced to another page when all I want to do is refresh my Episodes page to mark things watched.

Re: Features/Improvements Requests
Hi, is there a calendar view that show just pilot episodes whether I added them to the watchlist or not? With so many shows newly airing all the time it's easy to miss something you may have heard about months ago and you just want to scan the calendar if something sounds interesting.

Re: Features/Improvements Requests
Hi. No there is no way to show only pilot episodes in the calendar right now. It's an interesting feature request.

As long as you wait for that feature, you might want to use the "Discover Other Great Shows" feature on the main page and follow https://forum.next-episode.net/viewforum.php?id=97. You'll hardly ever miss a good show that way (if your taste isn't totally niche).

You can go to Top Charts -> Upcoming -> Under "This Month" go to 1st season, then you can order it by anticipation or premiere date and include or exclude your shows. It's a cumbersome way to do it, but it gets you where you want (if I understand you correctly).

You might also try going to your settings, Today's / Tomorrow's / Yesterday's lists, Include shows not in my watchlist when in their 1st season, Only the pilot episode.

Re: Features/Improvements Requests
Random idea: As it is today, you'll often see some news of upcoming series of things. Stuff like "Has been confirmed for a 5th season, which will be the last" and "Renewed For Season 6 Less Than A Week After Season 4 Finale; season 5 confirmed to be released in 2025" or whatever, and then a link to the relevant news article. All this info is then lost when the new season begins, because it only exists in the spot where the next episode info is. But this info is actually useful to me today for any show. I'd like to know if I'm considering starting season 2, whether currently airing season 4 is the last one or if S5 and S6 are in the works, for example. So I was wondering if that show status could perhaps be boiled down to just one short line somewhere in the show page, that's always shown until a show gets Ended/Cancelled status. Just something like: "Show status: Confirmed season 5 is the last one" or "Show status: Season 6 confirmed" Obviously the field just wouldn't get shown when that info is not available (for most shows), but that's the same for any such status. Any show that you haven't specifically added this news update for doesn't get shown. Oh, and P.S: I reiterate my request that you make your system mark all TV shows that have had the "Returning Series" or "On Hiatus" status for more than (for example) 2 years, as Ended/Cancelled. They can simply be resurrected if they ever get more seasons. The Watchlist at the left of the front-page is just ridiculously long, and makes scrolling to the bottom of the actual stuff you want to see way more difficult than it needs to be. P.P.S: In the dark theme, when I select/highlight some text in this box, the selection is dark blue on a black background. Which basically means I can barely see the selection at all. Any chance to change it to something brighter? Just use the orange from the theme, for example?

Re: Features/Improvements Requests
Currently, less than 1% of all active shows have "rumours" - what we call this field in the backend and it's cleared everytime a show gets a "next episode". So that's any rumour, these that mention if this is the last season or not are a small handful out of these 1%. So in theory, your suggestion makes sense, but in practice - it's too complicated to change multiple mechanisms (how the rumours work and are being stored and also how the show status is being determined and displayed) just to have this tiny benefit for a handful of shows. Also it would be more work on an ongoing basis. Re P.S.1: I don't like that idea as it would be confusing/misleading to users to mark stuff that's not officially cancelled - to cancelled/ended - people rely on that info to know whether there is a chance their show comes back. If your list is super long - I suggest using ctrl+f ? Re P.S.2: I'll look into that!

What would be REALLY helpful for the main page is creating another category that can be collapsed: More (undated) that would sit atop of More (not tracked) More (inactive shows) Then, only the shows with known (dated) upcoming episodes would be visible on the left side. Or maybe even make those shows ALSO collapsable with something like More (dated) at the top (under "Watchlist")?

To piggyback on that idea, how about an option to hide shows that are "on Hiatus" or "in Development" from the Watchlist on the Homepage? When the option is active they could be collapsed down below like the "Canceled/Ended" shows are currently under "More (inactive shows)". Technically these shows are "inactive" as well

That's a lot of "More"s, I'm not a fan. But maybe grouping all not currently running (and active) would be possible? I'll think about it.
